EDIT: NewBlue Transitions don't work in Video Pro X. That's /sadface, because I think the Transitions are the best part of that TotalFX bundle - outside of Titler Pro 7,.

@Former user The same is true for the Stabilizer in the NewBlue Essentials package. All of these work in VEGAS Pro 19 though, fwiw.

From NBFX website:

MAGIX Video Pro X*, MAGIX Video Deluxe*, MAGIX Movie Studio 18+*
*Video Pro X, Video Deluxe, and Movie Studio 18+ are not supported for Stabilizer and Transitions.

I don't know "why" those NBFX addons don't work, yet work in all other OFX editors, but Titler Pro 7 doesn't work either. Oh, it will show up, and the Editor will open, but try playing anything back on the timeline.... then reach for Task Manager to kill VPX/MEP/MS.

Noticed Stabilizer, but Mercalli is there so it’s not a factor. Will test Titler Pro when I get back home.

VPX won’t enable hardware acceleration with my AMD card, citing drive incompatibility. All the drivers are up to date.

Titler Pro 7 works better on my machine than 6 ever did but it is sllloooowwww and you have to keep an eye on the processing time indicator to finish between each change or it will crash. So for me, close to, but not utterly useless. It has never caused my machine to freeze.

IMO, it's Magix that should provide the key when a valid serial number is registered. Their own installer says that it's included with the program, so...

Humble Bundle copies and pastes marketing blurbs. Even the video is copypasta. This doesn't come with VPX12 Humble Bundle and MAGIX should feel no obligation to bleed money to give it away.

We've already had these discussions at least 3x in the past. That stuff is only included in Upgrades or Extensions for the Update Program.

It's pretty common knowledge at this point. It was settled a good 2-3 years ago.

I am not sure why people are demanding a $300 product for spending $25 on HB, when it's been widely known that they copy-paste marketing blurbs and MAGIX does not bundle those value adds with bundled stuff.

Same issue with past Sound Forge Pro bundles. People runnign here asking for free iZotope plug-ins, etc.

The MAGIX installer says this because under normal circumstances, people acquiring the programming will be doing so via means that include the bundle - Purchases, Upgrades, or Extensions to the Upgrade Program (if they still have that).

VPX would see it, it would just error out saying the GPU was incompatible.

Miraculously, and quite ironically (given the timing), ASUS issued a GPU driver update for my machine, which seems to have fixed it.

@Former user Thanks for your feedback! It's all true, but some of us (myself included) didn't know that this type of thing was settled 2-3 years ago...so thanks again. It seems like HB, and sometimes even MAGIX bundles themselves, are "Caveat Emptor" offerings given that they change frequently and can potentially have strings attached that are less than clear (like bundled plugins being MAGIX version limited, for example).

So called Common knowledge or not, they are lucky this was not advertised in this manner in Australia.

If it was, then the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) would jump on them so fast for what they would deem as false advertising. HB would be made to correct it and remove the reference to prodad mercalli 5 or be heavily fined.

From now on I will take anything that is on the HB website with a grain of salt the size of the rock of Gibraltar.

The Humble Bundle is expiring in 5 days and they are still advertising proDAD Mercalli V5 Suite to be included. In the meantime we are all still waiting more than 2 weeks for our support tickets that the issue with the missing Mercalli V5 Suite will be resolved. As Mercalli V5 Suite was my main reason to buy this bundle it really makes me mad. It´s really kind of false advertising.

CubeAce wrote on 3/18/2022, 6:29 AM

@Daniel-Kehl

Hi Daniel.

I wouldn't feel too bad about it. The offering from Magix was not for a full licence but a time limited one.

That's why I am convinced it is Humble Bundle's mistake. That plugin was offered just under a year back. They would not be able to give a new user the two years or use. The offer had ended before then.

I have 14 months left on mine. Then it's gone. The weird thing is I've never used it.

Beware of any offered third party plugins that you don't buy outright as some of them can and have gone missing over time and old projects will need to be reworked anyway.

Personally, I bought it because it supports AMD graphics.

@Reyfox

Hi,

I doubt that you would get your money back. For some of the stuff, like Soundpools, once you've downloaded them, you can't return them; they are yours.

@Daniel-Kehl

Basically, it's a gift and one should not look a gift-horse in the mouth. If you don't want or need VPX12 or anything else, save your money. Mercalli would be a huge extra but should not be the main reason to get VPX12.

@Photo_G

Nothing was resolved 2-3 years ago except that there were those who complained about not getting the plugins that Magix was offering with the version available from Magix.com and that you were not gettting the Update Service so you could not upgrade for free to the latest version; something that should be obvious to all. Anything that was in the offering, we got.

This time round, Mercalli V5 Suite shows up as included as I showed in the screen shot on the first page of this thread, so one would expect to get it. If not, they should have quickly removed that line, but it is still there, even after all of the questions about it to both HB and Magix.

No expiry limit is indicated for Mercalli V5 on HB. This is similar to the VPX offerings that we have had over the years. There was no expiry if you got it with VPX (usually), but there was a two-year limit with MEP.

@browj2 Thanks for your additional insight! Mercalli was a big driver in my decision to jump on the deal too. I didn't need another NLE, but I have found that I really like VPX. In that regard, the HB model seems to work pretty well for the companies that participate, since I'll probably end up upgrading it some day.

@Daniel-Kehl If, like me, Mercalli was behind your decision to pick up the bundle, it might not hurt to reach out to proDAD directly and ask about a discounted upgrade (from v2). I did, and they were very responsive and kind. At this point, it appears pretty unlikely that HB will be providing an activation key...but, they could prove me wrong.

@Reyfox

Hi.

Not because you asked but because I had temporary need to disable my Intel GPU from my system and can share my limited experience of just having an nvidia 1650 Super running MEP and VPX.

NB Titler Pro 7 ran faster but not supper fast I noticed there was much more 'disc' use and access times to the project 'disc' went up by a good 30-40%.

MEP and VPX playback and export seemed around the same as before but I lost all project settings with any titles used or visual fx except size position. (Not that I use that many.) Some portions of the video project went completely blank and some 3D titling went completely missing even though the objects were in the timeline. Some plugins just had very wrong settings and overlayed video lost its Chroma key settings completely.

When I returned my system to its usual state, the project still had exactly the same corruptions and I had to delete the project and replace it with another backup copy. Disc usage has gone back to tick-over and tasks within MEP and VPX have gone back to sharing tasks across the two GPUs. Render times are normal but it uses a lot less power than when just using the nvidia card. NB TP 7 has gone back to slowing down but still usable. My CPU during all of this ticked over at its normal pace, with or without the Intel GPU at work.

I also tried using a headless ghost in the Intel GPU output but it still had the same effect as not having the GPU in as much as it lost the same fx settings.

I didn't have time to see if a new project would have the same problems as I needed my system back up and running.

@browj2 I am not asking for a refund, so won't be following up if nothing happens. I did send them an email about the inclusion of Mercalli, then received an "automated" reply, but really do not expect to get anything from it. I already have Mercalli V5 Suite for Magix. With VPX11, in the advertised text (IIRC) it stated (or maybe that was with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum?) that the plugins when originally offered, are not included.

As for refunds, you can apply, and maybe they will prorate your purchase price.

I have more than enough plugins....

@CubeAce, TP7 is something I will not be using because of it's unresponsiveness in VPX/MEP. It's good to hear that it is usable for some, but for me, it is not. In Vegas and Resolve, it's easy. I also have BCC Title Studio, another 3rd party editor that on my computer, struggles with Magix, but with Vegas, Resolve and Hitfilm Pro, no issues. I use the title software mainly for animated lower 3rds... why re-invent the wheel so to speak.

Most other times... basic text.

CubeAce wrote on 3/18/2022, 11:45 AM

@Reyfox

Hi.

Differences in workflows I guess.

I have never used a Title Editor, TP7 or BCC TS without customising a base template to alter its look. I also tend to use them in stand alone mode more than in MEP or VPX and export results as a video clip along with a file to reload into the program as a new setting. I find BCC slightly faster the TP7 but more crucially more intuitive in use and easier to edit with. That is where I waste most time, finding and creating textures at the correct resolutions, setting up the speed or alteration of movement. I suppose I'm also one of those people who just dive right in rather than look at the manual so the feel of a program is more important to me than speed in use.

The main thing that slows down both editors I find is the resolution and frame rate I work at. Both are more responsive at 1080p and 25 fps. Not so much at 4K 50fps.

@CubeAce I don't think I've read a manual in ages!! Each title editor has something different to offer. I find TP7 easier to use. But both Boris and TP7 get the job done. I like the title editor to work as a plugin since it's easier to make adjustments as needed.

I mainly work in 4K with some 1080 50P if the job doesn't demand 4K. I've had not much trouble working in Vegas/Resolve, but VPX/MEP2022 has been for me, a failure in trying to use either title editor as a plugin.

My ticket at Humble Bundle is still in progress and I am still waiting 3 1/2 weeks for a solution as they keep telling that the Humble Bundle operations team needs to find a solution with Magix. In the meantime they are still advertising since weeks that Mercalli V5 Suite is included. This is really ridiculous in my opinion.

Reyfox wrote on 3/28/2022, 2:59 AM

The bundle is extended another 10 days as of this post. Over 3600 bundles sold at a ridiculously low price. And that's just this particular bundle. Add up all the thousands of bundles sold of all types of software, in addition to the possible thousands of possible emails, I really don't expect a reply except the canned automated one I received. If I were really dissatisfied, I'd get my money back... but I am quite happy to have VPX12. The other "stuff" I will give so some people I know.
