Did you try the File, Manage project, Export movie, as MVD, fix and re-import this in to a new project?

Alternatively this could be you need to reset MEP to its default settings.

Have tried both.

Nothing is working.

All projects save, but don't show up in the import startup menu when MEP 2022 is reactivated, and project MVP or MVD files have to be imported manually if the program does not shut down with the project.

I have just tested my older Tech Tips project I gave out to a few people here some time back and that too is also taking longer on my system to export than it did in MEP 2021 by about 20%, so if anyone has retained that project to test in either MEP 2022 or VPX 13 I would like to know if their system is that project exporting faster or slower please.

Time time difference between exporting an MP4 file and an HEVC encoded one is now around one second, so for me the HEVC export would be faster than it had been previously if both export times were now quicker. Hence my interest in whether a higher performing nvidia card or newer Intel IGPU would make a difference.

I am getting other one off oddities as well.

Last night ProDAD Mercalli V5 Suite went into trial mode and would not let me reactivate it until had rebooted the system. Then after getting it to work again it would not allow me to remove the watermark until I rebooted the system a second time.

It is impossible to change any graphics setting within the project settings with a project loaded without tripping the program up in some way.

mp3 export is broken and yes I have the latest Windows Media Player installed. Verified by another user.

Size / position will not allow a key frame to be added until a rotation handle is used, even if it is then set back to zero. Verified by several users.

Clicking on the 'Cloud Import' button has not worked since install of MEP 2022. No problem for me personally as I don't use any cloud storage but if there are any settings in there or it is running in the background, I can't access it.

Program will not close on completion of some projects. Have yet to determine why this is so random. Random as in if a given project will not allow the program to close it never allows that while a project that does allow the program to close always allows it to close.

All my projects have copies of the relevant files needed within. Even backups.

Playback on average is smoother and needs more tracks, and effects added than before to affect that.

Exports on my system are slower all round than with MEP 2021 although the export time gap between exporting HEVC and MP4 now seem equal at any given resolution or frame rate.

I have only had limited use of some of the functions so far.

I do like what improvements there are, it's just buggy on my system.

I concur that Audio Export to MP3 is broken and it isn't just that it doesn't work, Each time I've tried to export audio to MP3 (after rebooting the system) with Normalize checked it has crashed and informed me that Hardware acceleration has been disabled - see below.

I agree that keyframes cannot be added with Size / postition until a box it checked. However I always click in the position / horizontal box - just once without any adjustement. It is a faff most certainly but I've quickly got use to it.

Refering to my post earlier in this topic regarding manually creating a slideshow and the added photos can take up to 15 minutes - to be analysed possibly - slowing the program and indeed the whole system to a crawl.

I've now attempted several different slideshows with varying sizes, chroma subsampling and colour depth and they all, to varying degrees, take a long time to initialise and become usable.

Also, if I create several new movies within the current project, every time i switch from one to another the whole lag process start again. It's terrible and never happened in any preious version of MEP I've owned.

What is your average amount of system ram in use during working within multiple movies?

Have you ticked the following settings?

I have found MEP 2022 much more dynamic in its ability to grab and release system memory as needed.

Then again it could be your DDR3 memory is now a bit slow at 1066/1333 MHz for releasing and grabbing large chunks of data. There is a good chance stills are not going through your nvidia card.

MAGIX need to put out a patch for MEPP 2022 super-pronto. MEPP 2021 had a dearth of updates last year, It couldn't have been more than 3, followed by 9 or 8 months of zero updates before the 2022 release. They can't have that happen again this year.

I think I have solved my old projects 'not shutting the program down' problem.

So when I shut down the program it the project closes but there is a ghost copy lurking somewhere within the program or the updater and when the project closes I am left with this.

So I ended up shutting down the program each time with Task Manger. I was opening projects by either clicking directly on to an MVP file in it's folder or from the Import section from within MEP and the whole process would roll around again.

So I changed tack.

I tried opening an MVP file from the File / Last opened disc project and selecting the same project I closed.

It is the same project as the Ghost copy. That triggered this warning

I chose 'Add new project' and this was the result.

Just one movie in the project timeline.And it saved OK and the program closed as well.

Then the project appeared as it should at the opening of MEP.

On loading the project I now only get these running.

Instead of what I was seeing when running or closing a project that did not close the program.

It seems to have removed the 'ghost copy' hanging around.

Cloud Import still doesn't work and I have no idea why doing the above works to restore a project to behave as it should and is a long winded fix, but at least a fix.

I hope all this is giving someone a clue as to what is going on.

This is sounding similar to an issue that has been seen before with an earlier version of MEP - the MagixOfa Helper Module did not shut down correctly - check if this is still running after trying to close MEP

Have you uninstalled Update Notifier - if not do so, and in the program settings check the Hide news option if not already done.

I have never seen that listed ever while running this version of MEP nor had I noticed it running in the past within Task Manager.

I have searched all the folders under Users / Public / Public Documents / MAGIX / Common / Videocontent / Movie Edit Pro Premium and can't find it in any folder there. Is it in another folder somewhere?

All I see is Updater that appears when a working project is open. If I ask Task Manager to open the location of the file I get this.

Actually I think that is the problem.

I have just found two third party effects packages from HitFilm that have not been reinstalled with MEP 2022.

If a project contains the use of one of those two packages it brings up the script shown in the first image and refuses to close.

Now the question remains, have they been removed by MEP 2022 or should I attempt to re-install them?

I hate this type of thing. If it doesn't work it leaves an untidy registry.

You need to uninstall it - Windows settings, Apps - on my system it is call Magix Cloud Import, yet the window header is as seen below - this feature has had so many name changes since it was introduced 😡.

That is why I use Revo Uninstaller Pro - initiate the install with it the changes made to the system are recorded, uninstalling then is much easier as it cleans up afterwards.

These are the only Magix apps I can find.

Cloud import is not working within MEP either.

Thanks for that.

Although I know that is there and didn't uninstall it in 2021 the settings, I made then to mainly disable most of it's functions and that seems to have carried across to the new install.

Personally I think it is the missing two plugins causing that 'Node-js. Server-side Java Script' that is causing the problem. I have found one activation code in my old emails and am looking for the next one. If that clears things up I will leave MAGIX Cloud import alone. If it doesn't work then I'll take it out and see if that cures it.

I will let you know my findings.

The problem remains after all. The program can still hang and not close on opening and editing (or not editing) of an old project. The solution in such cases seems to be to save the project with 'Save As' and give the project a new name.. That project will then allow MEP 2022 to close and remember the project.

I love the software but the new update has impacted the editing template part of my software. I can only use the 15 second versions. No longer do I have an option of using 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 120 seconds version of the templates that I have purchased. The button for changing the length is there but it doesn't offer any other option other than 15 seconds.

Your first solution, "creates a new movie within the active project", doesn't work for me. However, the second one does.

There's also a bug with the zooming in on the timeline. Sometimes when I click either to zoom in or out, vertically or horizontally, the window comes up like I right clicked on it. It's very annoying.

Also, none of the transition templates work in the playback. Only fading works. Any other transition template I use, does not show in the playback. It just jumps from one clip to the other.

I am shocked at just how bad this version is. I've been using Movie Edit pro for years now and have had at least four versions and it's never been like this.

I'm thinking about going back to 2021 version.

I am feeling the same way. I wonder how does one roll back to a prior version?

1: I can no longer find this setting that allows for the quality of proxy files to be set.

2: Even if I delete a project within MEP 2022 (including first deleting all clips etc within the project) and try to load a new one it still thinks a project is loaded. It asks if you want to delete the prior project (The one I though I had asked MEP to delete) or add it to the project. Adding the new project to the (deleted) old project opens the new project on its own.

3: The deleted project still comes up within MEP under File / 'Last opened disk project', and opens fully, including all previous deleted files.

I don't this think this has been commented on and I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread for this bit of good news but I decided to put it here.

Over the past few months there have been many posts about screen recording with variable frame rates desyncing(?) the audio when trying to edit in MEP 2021. The workround was to red-encode the file in Handbrake or Avidemux then edit in MEP.

Today I've spent some time looking at this with MEP 2022 and it appears to work fine I tried 4 different videos that MEP 2021 had trouble with and the audio is perfectly in sync and edits without a problem. Below is the MedaInfo for one of the files I used -

I'm interested to know if I've been lucky so far. Has anyone else had this result?

I haven't got any of those types of file to try at present but if you can cut and re-order those clips without losing sync I would think that's a win.
