Endless Stream of Vegas posters

RogerGunkel wrote on 2/27/2020, 9:54 AM

In view of the regular postings here by Vegas users I wondered if it would be helpful to add to the existing heading at the top of the forum to make it a little clearer for Vegas users. A suggestion would be changing 'VEGAS PRODUCTS FORUM' to THIS IS NOT A VEGAS PRODUCTS FORUM

@RogerGunkel

Hi Roger.

I sympathise with and understand your suggestion. It is certainly true that I seem to spend more time closing Vegas posts than actually attempting to help users of non-Vegas products at the moment! 😡

Unfortunately, much as I might wish to stop such posts being made at all, I suspect that this is one battle we are not going to be able to win! I've just had to close a second post from a Vegas user who had already been directed to the Vegas forum but then reposted his original question here!! 😭

Your suggestion to change the formatting from Capitals to Bold Capitals will only last until the user has visited the opening page once, after which the Bold formatting is lost! And I don't think there is any way by which Post Topics can be underlined.

"These things are sent to try us".

Much as I am also baffled by the people persistently posting in the wrong place, it has to be said that it makes no sense that Vegas has a completely separate form from this one (that works and looks the same mind you). It would make a little more sense if Vegas, ACID and Sound Forge had their own forums, but even then, they're all MAGIX products now, so what's the point?

And don't get me started about the Samplitude forum that requires a login, even though there's a filter here for Samplitude (where people will just end up telling someone to go over and make an account at the real secret Samplitude forum).

It's all a bit nuts, but somehow very MAGIX. I guess you only get it if you get it.

browj2 wrote on 2/27/2020, 3:39 PM

I just posted on Vegas forum asking if there is not a link to the Vegas Forum under Help in Vegas. I have been wondering why so many Vegas users have ended up in this forum.

@toddbooster

I guess it's a legacy thing. The Samplitude/Sequoia forum has always been separate as a forum for professionals. They don't even want to discuss Samplitude Music Studio over there.

When Magix purchased Vegas, the Vegas users didn't like the format of this forum that existed at the time and wanted their own forum. They also wanted the existing threads to be included. A new format was developed for Vegas and this forum was also modified so that the two forums look alike.

There is also the TalkGraphics forum for Xara that has existed for a very long time.

I think that it would be useful if Magix would add links from one forum to the other making it very obvious which forum is for what. At the top of this forum, they could add big buttons for VEGAS, SAMPLITUDE and XARA.

Vegas users (I have Vegas 15, not 16 or 17) have confirmed that there is a link to the Vegas forum under Help in Vegas 16 and 17.

Perhaps it's because there is no link to the Vegas Community on the Magix.com site, at the very bottom under Portals. There is Magix Community and Vegas Software, so new users may think that they should use Magix Community. We should ask Magix to add a Vegas Community link on the Magix.com site.

Failing that, maybe we should ask people who post how it is that they ended up here.

Greetings people in magix.info forum. I'm one of volunteer moderator from www.vegascreativesoftware.info forum.

Indeed, we heard from Madison staff who are responsible for VEGAS products line developments and supports, that some users are going to wrong forum (here in magix.info) and getting disappointed of not having an expected answers.

I have posted the suggestion to web staff handling vegas forum to include the 'bridge link' between the forums. Hope they can make it.

As for forum link accessible from the software itself: Since Vegas Pro 16, the link has been added in Help menu

but for previous versions, you can go to Help>VEGAS Pro home page

and go to Support>Community from that website

Roger's suggestion in the initial post has merit. Perhaps READ HERE FOR VEGAS FORUM LINK.

Hi everyone

I have changed the sticky title to make it more clear what the sticky post is about - hopefully it may reduce the number of Vegas posts in this forum and added it copy to the Video ProX section - it does mean that there are no 2 sticky posts at the top as I can see no way of making the posts pan Video forum.

@johnebaker

Hi John,

Could you please change the text? I think that people are looking at it and thinking that they should post here, not understanding that they should click on the link to go to the other forum.

Maybe something like, "There is a separate forum for Vegas Products. Please click here to go to the Vegas Forum and post your question there." Make the link a little longer as I underlined.

Nope. Another one just posted under Movie Edit Pro without even mentioning the name of the program. His new installation can't read "VEG" files. The words "Movie Edit Pro" are not close to either Vegas Pro or Vegas Movie Studio. Does he not read or understand what is written on the screen?

The Magix.com site opens the Vegas site when you want to look at or purchase Vegas products. There is no link back to Magix.com and no link to Magix.info. In the Vegas programs, there are links to the Vegas forum and web site, none to Magix.info. So it seems to me that those who post here have to work extra hard to get to the wrong forum.

. . . . So it seems to me that those who post here have to work extra hard to get to the wrong forum . . . .

It is easier than you think and is a result of a common mind set - 'Google knows everything'.

Search Google for 'Magix forum' - currently the first 5 items all land you here.

But, searching for "Vegas forum" brings up 5 or 6 for Las Vegas and then Vegascreativesoftware. Why would someone search for Magix forum and not Vegas forum?

As well, many of these posters seem to think that they have Sony Vegas (14 to 18). I have pointed out to some of them that there is no such thing and to not mention the word "Sony" when they post on the Vegas forum. They then go to the Vegas forum and write that they have "Sony Vegas 18."
