Hi Jayessarr.

I think I will roll back to the previous version. Yes if you right click the icon you do get a 'roll back to previous version' option. The problem is, when you click it, it can't find a previous version :-). Thanks for the thought though.

@CubeAce - No problem thought it was worth suggesting. Well, v.209 is working like a dream for me now - spent another couple of hours on my project today and I have had NO problems. It's a complex tutorial project, 16 minutes long with TONS of text boxes, fadeouts/ins, loads of arrows which I have rotated with ease ... I've copied/pasted objects hundreds of times ... and MEP has been fantastic - fast and reliable. Screenshot of my project:

That's a heavy project alright :-) Nice going.

I'm not sure what the last update was about. All I could see was new effects to buy at their shop. Now that you have rolled back, can you see the new transition effects on sale at the shop? I'm quite interested in those.

Hi @CubeAce, I'm quite new to MEP so I'm not sure what the new transition effects are, but I'm guessing not, because the transitions appearing in the store are:

Smooth, Zoom collection, Ink spill and water, Triangles, Hexagons, Transition Mix, and Stripes.

Actually I'm glad your post caused me to look in the store, because I noticed there's a Black Friday deal today, they were just 1.04 GBP each collection - so I've just purchased all of them (except Stripes) . Thanks! J

@Jayessarr

Glad to see that you're back in business.

Impressive project, just over 16 minutes. That must have taken you about an hour so far, right? 😀

Or more likely 40 hours and counting.

Hi Jayessarr.

Although I've taken a few videos over the past couple of years it was only around August this year I thought I might give editing a go. So I purchased MEP and here I am. I must be spending around 40 hours a week on MEP myself. The Newest effects had the word 'NEW' against them but aparrently no longer:-)

I've just had a look and tried to buy four of the new design elements. Complex Geometry, Simple Geometry, Collage, and Popular shapes but the last download froze the program again. Ahrg! .....

Just restarted program and download completed. Phew!

Now I'm off to see if I can reload the earlier version of MEP.

Ps. You seem to have a better idea of how to post here than me as I can't figure out the @Jayessarr thing.

[EDIT] where did that come from? All the time I've been here I've never had that link come up before.

I'm going away for a lie down :-)

OK. So I've rolled back to the previous version and it seems stable. But, and this is a big BUT! I've lost the last four plugins I bought at the MAGIX shop on line mentioned in my previous post and they now don't appear in my shop window to re-download so part of the last update must have been for those effects as well. Now what? I've tried looking for a contact email address. I don't mind not having the effects but I'm bummed I paid for them and possibly won't get them back. OK, they weren't expensive but I was looking forward to using them.

@Jayessarr

Maybe it depends on how much you spend. The total spend for me was less than £10:00 I thought I had lost my paid for codec as well but that seems to be working OK. The problem with the last update would seem to be you can't use two separate 3D title effects within one project. For some reason one or more of the effects will then dispay exactly the same graphics and text as the other. Even on different tracks. You also can't stretch a3D effect or duplicate it side by side without the program freezing. This is using Win7 64bit Pro.

@CubeAce

Interesting! Can I ask how you know this - did you find out by trial and error? My project that kept freezing had lots of title objects (copied and pasted) but no 3D titles (I think). It seemed to freeze when I stretched on object (but not a 3D object), which ties in with your observations.

I wonder if the guys at Magix know about these issues and whether they are planning to put out an update to the update ? There must be others out there with these issues but who are not reporting to this forum.

Also, I also found the email address support@magix.com - maybe you could try that for your lost plugin issue?

Hi Guys,

@CubeAce

Raise a ticket. Try to put together something to properly demonstrate the problem, like a short video. Also, add the issue to this thread:

https://www.magix.info/us/forum/feedback-how-do-you-like-version-18-0-1-207--1213216/

I didn't notice a newer one.

As for the effects that you bought, they should be under your documents folder for Magix, MEP, something like:

B:\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\ShopManager_Videodeluxe25_premium\GAjlqUaDRhClUSiJpqMvtA

This particular one is one of the folders of a collage that I just purchased through MEP. Once there, they can be copied and saved away. Check to see what you have under the ShopManager.

I was going to add them to VPX as my collages, but, it showed up under Templates in VPX to be downloaded. I did so. That reminds, I had better back up my collages as they are under ProgramData and may be wiped out in an upgrade or a reinstall.

For the 3D titles, if you have Xara 3D Maker 7 installed, adding a 3D title opens it and you can modify it as you wish, even making it completely different. See my tutorial on 3D Maker. Try installing the trial version to see. It may just keep working for you after the trial period. I purchased it through Humble Bundle for 1$ recently.

@browj2

Hi John.

Thanks for the useful suggestion. I found Documents \ MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium \ ShopManager_Videodelxe_Premium, along with 56 folders. None of which held the new effects. They are sadly not title effects but transitions. (Although I noticed all the folders held transitions) It'll be dfficult for me to show what was happening now I've rolled back but the program did twice send an error report back to MAGIX before it was shut down by me using Task Manager. I will try to bring this thread up on the feedback thread though. Thanks for thinking of that. I can make 3D title templates that will work in MAGIX with my old copy of an old Adobe website design package that I have. I know how to make my own layers and automate them if need be. It maybe more time consuming than using a dedicated program but I don't need that many custom titles. I've already created a simple one using an old copy of Photoshop.

@Jayessarr

Wierdly all my basic titles behaved OK but I didn't need to add or alter any. There was definitely a problem with stretching any title effect in the timeline though. I never really got beyond that though so there may have been additional problems I didn't see. What version of Windows are you using and is your processor an Ivy Bridge core or a Sandy Bridge? Maybe there is a problem there. Mine is an Ivy Bridge using Win 7 64 bit Pro.

@CubeAce

Did you look at my tutorial on 3D Maker? I doubt that you can do what it does using your old Adobe website design package. With 3D Maker, you can change the speed, shape, font, colours, size, and much more.

As I mentioned, install the trial version. According to some users, it keeps working with MEP after the trial period.

Hi @CubeAce

You said you have rolled back to a previous version of MEP but did you do this by rolling back to an earlier Windows restore point as I suggested earlier? If the plugins were installed after the restore point (date) you picked then they will no longer appear and will need to be installed again. Is there an .exe in your MyDocuments Magix Downloads folder for the plugins that you can run?

@Scenestealer

Hi Peter.

No I didn't roll back but used the MAGIX trial version which uninstalled the then present version. As the other effects I had bought prior to the new update are still there (and I can find their sub-folders) I'm assuming the update itself is needed somehow for the newer effects to be loaded. That is because those effects no longer show up in the 'Shop Window', nor does the few I didn't buy, whereas all the previous ones I bought before the update do show up in MEP but also don't show in the shop window. The only conclusion I can make from that is that until another update arrives or I try again to use the present new version of MEP, then those effects are not going to show. It was the same when I updated from the 2018 to the 2019 version of MEP. The 2018 version is no longer on my hard drive even though the folder exists. That I don't mind as long as whichever version I have works. I don't need hard drive space used up on something I probably wouldn't use. I've over eight terabytes of still images I've taken since 2009 and I expect to have a lot more in video files over the next two years as I've been handed a new project to do over the next eighteen months recording possible film locations for production houses. That will be mainly stills work but possibly a little bit of video as well.
