I bought a program update from you Magix Movie Edit Pro premium 2022 yesterday i bought new license and update program. Every now and then the program freezes. It jams every time.
I think he has just left off a 7 as in i-7-7700 as that processor has a base clock speed matching the rest of the processor spec and has an Intel HD630 GPU which would sort of match with the age of the nvidia card.
My guess would be not updating the rest of the system drivers and Windows or C: drive space is now getting a bit full if everything else is equal and the program was running before.
However I'm not sure which version of MEP is being used. Last time I looked @Zaza_from_Johor was using MEP 19.0.2.58.
In your signature the processor is identified as an i7-700 - it looks like there is a digit and 1 or 2 characters at the end missing - can you clarify the Intel processor number in full please.
When you say 'freezing' do you mean the Preview playback stutters, or the program locks up/crashes and you have to stop it using Task Manager?
What format and resolution video are you working with - a MediaInfo analysis may help, IIRC you already have this installed.
Can you post a screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab
John EB
To give you a a few examples: I drop a file from the monitor to the time line after trimming. Then I click to the next file and the program stalls. totally frozen. Or I play one file to preview then click on another one to preview and program freezes.
Files are from a Gopro

On previous posts we have seen problems with Go-Pro generated video clips.
The data from yours seems somewhat different to ones I have seen in the past.
I have never seen this section before.

Is it possibly GPS data? That may be what is throwing a spanner in the works. The reason you possibly haven't had a reply is it is possible no-one knows for sure. The rest of the file looks normal to me. You may have to look at the files in Handbrake and convert them.
When you say you never had a problem before, do you mean with the same clip?
If not, then compare the data from the clips that work to those that don't. See if there is a difference. If there is no difference it could be a newly introduced bug and you should tell magix here or raise a ticket.

Ray.
What I mean is I could edit those Gopro files without any issues with the previous version I used.
Please be aware these are user to user forums, not a contact for any Magix staff and it is not our software!
Personally, I find almost no problems running Video Pro X 13 and MEP Premium 2022 - my computer hardware is listed in my signature - but I fully accept that your experience is totally different.
If you wish to request help with a Magix product, these are the forums to do so; to post merely to state that you no longer use Magix software is really of little value since we, ordinary users, are not, in any way, responsible for how and whether a specific product "works".
My previous comment was deleted probably because it was negative......but I still think this is terrible software. But as a last resort. Try these steps to stop the freezing. 1) Open MEP 2022 2) Click on FILES in the upper left corner 3) Scroll down to SETTINGS and them PROGRAM 4) Click on the DEVICE OPTIONS tab 5) Look under HARDWARE ACCELERATION and set Import, Processing and Export to CPU 6) Click OK 7) Exit the program back to the desk top and re-open the program...proceed normally.
I did this is and the program IMMEDIATELY stopped freezing every 20 seconds.
What is your computer specification and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Are the graphics card drivers up to date?
What format and resolution are the source video clips?
A MediaInfo analysis would help - download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.
This did the trick! Thank you. I suspect that these settings were changed when one of the software updates was installed without our knowing it.

This is not possible patches and/or upgrades from one version to another require you to take at least 3 actions for them to install, they do not install of there own accord.
It is most likely that the 'update' was the upgrade to MEP 2022 which has more features than the earlier versions in that you can select which GPU(s) and/or the CPU are used for for Importing, Processing and Export.
Unfortunately the upgrade dialog for MEP 2022, was not clearly worded and has 3 options:
Install later - this will upgrade when you close the program.
Install now - this closes the program and installs the upgrade.
Close the upgrade dialog window - the upgrade is not installed.
program MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO Premium 2021 freezes when I try to load an mp4 file.
When I bring the program up, all the menus and modes appear to work fine. I can click on any .mp4 file in my Import tab. But the play, [], down arrow buttons do not work. When I click and drag to the timeline any mp4 file, there is a small rectangular box on the lower right part of my cursor, showing it has connected to the file. This box disappears when my cursor is over the timeline, and nothing is entered into the timeline. But then when I move the cursor anywhere else, the small rectangular box returns and the program is frozen. The only thing I have found that I can do is to kill the program using the Program Manager (Control, alt, delete).
When I start Movie Edit Pro Premium, a message box comes up saying “In this full version you can download all additional program content.” When I click OK and allow Installation Manager, it shows a list of programs faded out where each says it was installed today but nothing works. They were installed yesterday, not today. These were installed when I installed the program, but the program does not seem to know this. I had the same problem when installing on my major desktop, but the program works fine on the desktop.
The computer where Movie Edit Pro is freezing is a high-end laptop:
Ideally you should have opened a new topic thread for yourself rather than tagging on to another topic.
That said, you only mention one drive. That is not ideal for video editing if the source video files reside on the same drive. No matter how fast a modern SSD is, it is going to put huge strain on the data flow. If the files are placed on the desktop which is a protected area, that would make the problem worse. While SSDs are fast they do not handle large files well, especially when dealing with multiple parallel running tracks. Ideally you need to have your source video files on a separate drive. if your laptop does not have a second SSD slot then an external USB3 drive should suffice.
Have you registered the plugins with the appropriate 3rd party vendors?
While they may well have been downloaded to your computers, have you installed them into the program?
Your laptop is far more powerful than my desktop so it should be working with that one exception of a lack of a second acceptable or even third drive.

For this issue which occurs for some users see this solution.
. . . . NVIDIA RTX A3000 GPU . . . .
Are the drivers up to date - the latest version is: R525 U2 527.27 (31.0.15.2727 in the Windows versioning system if they follow other Nvidia drivers versioning syntax)
. . . . drag to the timeline any mp4 file, there is a small rectangular box on the lower right part of my cursor, showing it has connected to the file. This box disappears when my cursor is over the timeline, and nothing is entered into the timeline. . . .
MP4 is a container file format which can contain video and audio encoded with a variety of different codecs, some of which may not be supported natively by Movie Edit Pro 2021.
In order to determine if this is the cause, download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips causing the issue and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip to get all the data required in the correct format.
. . . . The project movie settings . . . . 4 tracks, . . . .
I would suggest you increase the number of tracks back to the default of 32 - MEP will use tracks higher than 4 for some effects and for audio. Empty tracks do not take extra storage space in your saved project files.
Project files only contain information on the video/image/audio clips used, what effects are applied to them the track layouts etc as references. The original source Video, Images and Audio files used in a project are not stored within the project as discrete objects, nor are they changed / edited by the program - it is a non destructive editor.
I read all these files just fine in Magix on my desktop computer. So, the problem seems to be in the environment on my laptop, which is relatively new. When installing Magix it said I had to install QuickTime. Which I did, but now I discover that QuickTime does not work correctly. It gets hung. So, I just installed VLC and it said it did not support this file type. Similarly for PowerDVD.
So it seems I need to load something like K-Lite or Media Player.
What do you suggest?
Thank you for your help.
So here is the output of MediaInfo:
General
Complete name : E:\BARKER-VIDEO-TAPES\Video\Hoot-0055-1994-03-14.mp4

Do not install any 'all-in-one' codec packs - they are known to cause issues with the Magix codecs and are not necessary.
MMS 2023 should not ask you to install Quicktime when being installed - do you mean it asked for QT when you first added the video clip to the timeline?
From the MediaInfo analysis, the video file encoding is standard AVC (h.264) with AAC audio so should not have been asking to install Quicktime, MMS 2023 has the native decoders for this encoding format.
The length of the video is also well within the capabilities of MMS 2023 which at this frame can take video up to approx 9.5 hrs runtime.
. . . . I read all these files just fine in Magix on my desktop computer. . . .
This, plus PowerDVD and VLC not playing this file is very puzzling, the latter plays just about every format going, and would suggest there is an issue with the video file.
On the laptop, try deleting the video file and the .HDP and .H0 files in the same folderand copy the MP4 file only from the PC to the laptop, then import to a new project.
Last night, after 30 minutes of excellent technical support from Dell, we discovered that the 1TB USB Thumb Drives were corrupting my large video files (3 to 4 hours).
When plugged in, the Thumb drive was loose. Sometimes I had to wiggle it for the system to see the drive. The bottom line: using Magix or any video program such as VLC, Quick Time, etc. on desktop or laptop failed if the data was on the Thumb Drive or copied from the Thumb Drive. If the data had never been on the thumb drive, everything worked fine.
In 20-20 hindsight, when it was clear that Magix was hanging when going to display any video from any direction, I should have tried accessing video from outside of Magix. It did not work.
