No, it goes both ways. Apple users can't use common message apps to relatives with phones on other platforms. They couldn't use a normal charger for their iPhones or tablets. I know people who have genuine grudges the other way but that's off topic and I'll leave it there. But you are correct that Magix has the habit with VPX and MEP not to pay out for the needed additional wrappers that other companies sell. In this instance though it appears there is no way to obtain or pay for that wrapper and if one wants it from Magix you have go go the Vegas route.

Ray, first-world problems. Can't communicate? Get on the same system. Simple. Irrational to blame anybody or anything else or force a company to change. As for connectors, the only constant has been the lightning cable. The rest has been a shambolic dog's breakfast for decades. Cameras, phones, boom boxes, all different. I have my reasons for not being on Apple but gee, I was envious of that Lightning cable. I'll leave the topic there.

As for ProRes AAC audio, Magix can read it, we just have to work out how/why.

I do and cannot download the video file, either from the initial player screen, nor when logged in, tried in Opera, Firefox, Chrome and Edge.

I found this about the webpage.

It looks like a permissions problem but I am probably wrong.

I also checked the full set of Prores video test files I have and none of them would import into Vegas 19 - no video, no audio.

@johnebaker  Hi, ?... I convert my mp4 files to .mov ProRes because they work better in Vegas. ? You have to turn on Quicktime in Preferences - Depreciated Features.

To double check, I used Vegas Pro 19 to create new test files Prores 422, PCM encoded audio - no AAC audio encoding option, AFAICS to match @sksoon's video file is AAC encoded.

If it is hidden where is it? 🙏

I used Voukoder in Vegas to create this, it's close to the OP's,,, I think.

Audio is fine, as with all my .mov's in MMS the video stutters, it plays a few seconds then freeze frames for 3-4frames then continues, repeating this every few seconds ..

The new PCM encoded test files do not import the audio portion only the video with MMS 2024, in VP19 they import fine.

Not sure about this, I assume you're ref to pcm won't load on your MMS, my pic earlier clearly shows my .mov with pcm audio loading & playing in my MMS? ..

Hi Gid.

One of my cameras records to 16 bit 48kHz PCM audio within a mov file but it's an older version of mov and there are no problems with the audio tracks in MEP or VPX. This I think is down to however Apple decided to sync the audio to a variable frame rate. I notice in some other options within the recorder there are also options to produce a SMPT track.

The set of Prores 422 and 444 PCM encoded test files I had, as I mentioned previously, would not import into Vegas Pro, this made me suspect that they were 'iffy'.

Using Vegas I created a 'new' set of Prores 422 and 444 PCM encoded test files for testing - the 'new' refers to these new files.

The MediaInfo data shows that the trfc.mov file is AAC encoded audio which is the same as @sksoon original file which will not load.

I have now managed to download sksoon's original file with the AAC encoded audio to test with and will look into Voukoder - thanks again.

The link sksoon provided has extra parameters which are not needed. I downloaded the file using this URL It will not play in the browser, and the download does work.

@johnebaker You're looking at the wrong pic, i changed my comment from 'above' to 'earlier' because i thought it wasn't clear. maybe while you were typing as your quote is pre-edited. I used Voukoder to create the AAC as that is what you were asking about 👍

PS, 422 & 444 play fine in Vegas, 422 loads into MMS (all pics above/earlier are 422) but 444 loads with white thumbnails

@sksoon That file from @johnebaker's link plays fine (for me like all .mov it stutters) in MMS2024 (& Vegas it plays fine).

This video file is imported into VDL 2022 (MEP 2022) without audio.
When playing, the playback stutters slightly.

The file with image and sound is imported into CAPCUT.
Everything runs smoothly, no jerking during playback.

The video imports with no audio in MMS 2024 and VPX 15, but is fine in Vegas Pro and MEP 2016 - I tried this out of curiosity.

The file imported with no problems at all into MEP 2022 and VPX 14. Volume level is extremely low at around -12dbm maximum as is. I don't know if anyone checked but the programs used Magix QTM Reader. Seen in both the Windows volume mixer and in Task Manager. Ignore the BBC PPM meter reading. I have it set to a custom setting for workflow between applications and only gives the levels within the Windows mixer array.

@CubeAce Which appp(s) are you referring to? My family group has no problems with WhatsApp and Skype and my offspring all have iPhones and I'm using ancient Android devices & Windows pc.

@AAProds Al, I don't know what you've got installed to your 'pooter (sorry, the grandpeoples are here) but the file does not open with audio on mine with MS2024

@sksoon What I have found is when I extract the audio as a direct copy (I use https://www.pazera-software.com/products/audio-extractor/ using the "try extract original audio stream" but other audio extractors are availble) and then add it your file imported into MS2024 (which only shows the video obviously) then all plays well without any re-encoding involved.

It's not an answer as to why MS doesn't like Prores files but it is a quick and simple workround to make them work.

ps for obvious reasons I don't know if the audio stays in sync as the video progresses especially as Mediainfo shows the file as variable frame rate.

Hi Andy.

That's a neat little program. It could be useful for those with MMS that also need to extract audio from game play recordings and have multiple audio channels.

It is odd you are not getting audio though. I wonder if other programs that others may be using on their computers has made a difference? I know that my copies of MEP, VPX, and Vegas share some but not all of their third party effects between each other and possibly other less noticeable bits? I also have a couple of DAWS loaded that may have an additional codec buried in the system somewhere.

I also don't know if running Windows Home, Pro, or Enterprise would make a difference or need an additional service pack of some kind.

Are you seeing that copy of Magix QTM Reader in the Windows sound mixer I showed in my last reply? It only opens when I've imported that Pro Res file and doesn't shut down when the editor is shut down. It does disappear from the Windows sound mixer but still shows up as running in Task Manager. I'd never noticed it previously.

Hi.

Looking through my applications list I did download ProRes RAW for Windows. I'd forgotten about it. It's free from either the Microsoft play store or the Google play-store. I can't remember but the Microsoft store seems the most likely. It's only 1.33MBs.

I haven't installed any codecs etc.. except Quicktime & Microsoft HEVC codec. The only thing I can think of is that I have the Boris full suite & I had/have Adobe AE/Premiere installed (subscription lapsed), Boris are very friendly with Adobe, AE is their no'1 choice of host for their plugins in their vids. So maybe as mentioned something could've come from another program that allows video & audio playback with MMS

As a precaution, I made a complete data backup today.

Because I didn't know to what extent the following might have a negative impact.

I then installed the KLITE CODEC PACK MEGA to test it.

So far I haven't found any other problems with this.
My Magix version behaves as always.

But now with ProRes the audio data is imported.

Without Klite Codec Pack no import of the audio track.
Import video and audio with Klite Codec Pack.

+1 for the K-Lite Codec pack, however, from previous experience with it, I did not keep it installed.

I would suspect that the few other 'All in one' codec packs would behave similarly.
