The same version but it definitely updated just a short while ago. No idea what the previous version number was as I only noticed the pop-up box when it installed.

So maybe a Windows update then. Difficult to know when I haven't had any problems beyond the normal ones.

I would also like to know the nerve of any company turning an open source code into a copyrighted program 😉.

But then my car is full of it. It took me longer to read the loaded software in my car than to read the car's manual.

I'm lost here. What is now at 3.0.0.50? I don't see an update for MEP. And even if there were, or for the Intel drivers, they both start with numbers much higher than 3.

Hi Mike. We are talking about the MEP updater program. The one that loads when MEP is initialised and pops up in the task bar. Background services.

Just found you saying this in another thread. I didn't know there was an Updater program.

I haven't been running MEP for a while now. Perhaps I'll let my firewall keep blocking MEP until this settles down. (I suppose I had better make an image of my OS drive before running MEP in case I have problems too.)

Which open source code are you referring to?

It is perfectly legal and quite common, depending on the Open Source licencing conditions.

We are referring to the Magix Update Notifier - previously known as Magix Connect, Connect and Network Sync.

Hi Mike. I haven't personally had any problems, but people running 7th generation processors seem to have had a few problems lately involving the Intel 630 HD driver (not to be confused with the 630 UHD driver.)

Thanks that's what i was begininning to realise the more i looked into it & saw in the Device manager it reads Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 👍

I did get a Magix update program updated last wk but nothing in Magix Edit program changed so i ignored it until i realised i couldn't export in HEVC & then created this post

Did you look at my other thread where I show Gids' system working using his Intel graphics card a few months back?

Something screwy here:- That screenshot in your other thread shows @Former user was on a late driver .8336 months ago but in his opening comment of this post his screenshot shows he is/was on an earlier one .7262! Something appears to have rolled back his driver.

Also his SS three posts up from here shows his Update Notifier version is not the latest - 3.0.0.1 - instead of 3.0.0.5 despite the fact that he said he updated it recently!

I believe the problem was with the Intel DCH driver update issue I linked to and the Update Notifier issue is not related!

This is the last vid i posted on that post i think Peter is ref to where everything was still working well a couple of mths later 7/2/2020, it's got 8336 driver now

& this one is what i posted on this post at the start 8/12/2020 is back to 7262

I did pay for Renew Update Service – 1 year Movie Edit Pro Plus on the 1st of July 1/7/2020

but you can see from the second pic in this comment everything was working fine & it was working fine after until a wk or so ago, I haven't done much editing recently, the last vid i put on Youtube was on the 15 Jul 2020 but i have been exporting stuff

I have a suspicion that KB4552925 may have been causing some issues on some devices - it was too much of a coincidence that issues appeared immediately after updating to that patch on my laptop, but not my PC - Bluetooth poor performance, Fn key combinations not working - I uninstalled that patch and after several reboots everything returned to normal. Now seems to be OK with the latest patch installed.

Me too! My Surface Pro 3 went wonky probably around that time - very slow to boot after shutdown (or sleep) touch screen would react on some touches but not others, mouse pointer would take a long time to appear after boot. The latest patch installed at present is KB4565627 and it came right after that.

Nope sorry Peter i can't 🤷‍♂️ Things worked after i renewed the Magix service on the 1st July because i uploaded that vid to YT but i didn't notice or know when the driver had changed back to 7262, the pic in the middle of the comment above is Jo's Pergola, that was uploaded to YT on the 7th, i normally upload pretty much as soon as it's exported & i've had time to watch it when done, with the fast export i can now watch after exporting the same night, so i prob exported on the 6th, I uploaded another different vid to YT on the 15th July & I was exporting vids with HEVC last wk but no idea what driver was on/in. The only things i can think have happened recently/later last wk are the Intel update bouncing like i showed in my first pics on this post & getting a magix updater update, I don't know what that was, i clicked ok & was waiting for some kind of request to update Magix Movie but nothing happened, the program hasn't changed so i just accepted it was a background process updating itself,

@johnebaker Now that you gave me the old name of the Updater, I realized that had I removed it immediately after installing MEP. Don't want no stinkin' Network Connects on my PC. (Remember the old days of MEP's SQL Server?)

Have just solved the mystery of the rolled back Intel GPU driver as it has just happened to me!

My desktop was on .8336 and in the last couple of days it updated to Win 10 V2004....fine working well. Next minute I see Win Update has installed a new Intel HD530 graphics driver.....Version xxx.7990🙁.

Win update has never automatically installed new graphics drivers and if I think back I believe I set something that told it not to. Win 2004 must have reset this setting to allow auto driver updates but why it chose that much earlier one I am not sure. The solution is to use gpedit.msc to enable a switch that says "do not allow automatic driver updates". After that I used Intel Driver Support Assistant to update to xxx.8476 - all good!

I think you mean Firebird SQL Server - Magix Edition, and yes I do - if you remember I said 'delete or disable it and you will 'cripple' MEP.

The Firebird SQL Server records everything necessary for editing a project eg all objects used, position on timeline, effects applied edit decisions etc - when you load a project you are transferring all this information back into the database, when you save a project you are exporting the data.

Unfortunately this is not available on Windows 10 Home.

Windows 10 2004 is a complete new install - it did not pick up any of my previous settings, in the end I did a complete re-install on my PC and laptop to clear out all the legacy junk left behind upgrading from 7 through to Windows 10 1903.

The performance difference is amazing on my laptop, PC is another story - bank protection software 😡😡😡

I've uninstalled the MEP updater then as I have no use for it.

As for Windows 10. It's getting like Android with Google. There is so much I don't want it to run but one setting alteration seems to sometimes disable another feature I do want. I can understand those wanting to switch to a Linux based model.

In any event, I had removed it and, for what I did, MEP seemed to work okay. But perhaps it would have worked better? (I had thought that Firebird SQL was about getting news and/or sending projects up to Magix.)

See this topic - I did not remember saying MEP is not using it since 2015.

I check with MEP 2020 - it did not start Firebird SQL server however it did appear to start FABS the helping agent for Magix media database once on first start of the day.

FABS say it 'Watches filechanges, does automatic backups and configuration stuff.'

Tested and found the only Magix program I have still using the Firebird SQL Server is Photo Manager, I cannot test older versions of MEP as I no longer have them installed due computer rebuild - new Windows and software installation.

Hmm... I checked Task Manager with a start of MEP 2020. (Haven't run it in a month.) To my surprise, Updater is running. (Along with the Main application, and the ol' Bridge32.)

However, I do not see Updater in the Windows' Uninstall or Change Program list.

Seems the only way to stop updater is to change the name of the exe?

It should show up in the uninstaller Mike. It showed up in mine. It is somewhat further down in the list than MEP.
