Hi Ray.

The screenshot that @Former user posted as number 2 is from the official Intel Drive Update site, not M$, and his GPU states it is for "HD Graphics", not "UHD". Could that be the reason?

Could well be Jeff. I didn't notice the difference when I looked, I only noticed the update number was wrong.

I wasn't even aware there was an HD only driver. It's definitely the UHD driver that is needed.

The .8476 driver only fixes 2 issue with games, I am currently on 27.20.100.8336 and do not have issues with exporting HEVC from MEP 2020 when it uses the UHD 630 for HWA .

Hi John.

Did you look at my other thread where I show Gids' system working using his Intel graphics card a few months back?

Gids' two images here are only showing 'Mixdown' in the export box of image two. No sign of the (Hardware Encoding) as he had it switched off.

Both my graphics processors show activity on playback and record despite the file format chosen. Only the Intel GPU shows any decoding going on or needs to be used to get (Hardware Encoding) to appear during export.

I have just noticed a missing 'qualifier' to using the UHD 630 in my post above that I will correct.

Hi, I've resolved this, i think. I didn't do anything to the PC apart from try to update driver from the device manager etc, all avenues i tried told me the driver i had was the best or the latest. I tried Intels page several times & got the same message

but i eventually did get this one offered, the 8476 one Ray mentions, don't know why i didn't change anything

I did see this one in Intel's download support page but i was trusting that when I'm being told my drivers are up to date i had the best for my PC,

I tried to install this but

I remember this happening before, a little while ago but i presumed then that it was telling me the truth n it knew better than me,

so i downloaded 8476 from the support page,

it went into my downloads folder as an application,

I clicked on that it did a very quick install & said Setup Is Complete 👍

Everything seems to be up n running at full power again, I've still no idea why this update didn't install as normal, I've been getting updates regularly without a problem

It looks like there's a newer Beta version but i went with the 8476 one Ray mentioned & that intel tried to download,

I'm still puzzled as to why on some of Intel's processor pages it states HD drivers instead of the UHD drivers. Are there two different GPU systems on Intel chips that run 630?

I've no idea but seems odd to me as well.

Anyway, going away to do my second Windows update of the month now. More chances for more to go wrong 😉.

😅😆 yeah, updates all the time, fix one thing n it breaks another, 😣 Still loving the fast export with the internal graphics, I don't know much about HD drivers or UHD drivers so when this problem occurred i was a bit flustered, , glad it's sorted now tho n thanks again for help getting this set up in the past,

In a nutshell, yes and no.

Yes - they are 2 different systems.

No - internally they are more or less the same, however the UHD 630 has tweaks that allow a slightly higher boost speed, with bigger improvements in the texture fill rate and floating-point performance:

No - the performance increase you would see would, at best, be marginal - most likely you would see no difference to the video editing export times as there are other factors at play when rendering.

The performance boost refers to the Turbo boost feature of the iGPU and the increase in performance is about a 4 - 5% increase in the UHD 630 compared to the HD 630 - Intels description of what Turbo boost does is here.

The texture fill rate and floating-point performance increases are about 15% and 24% respectively and are relevant to gaming.

Interesting to note that MEP was not happy with the DH driver though where it seemed previously OK.

As I said in my other thread. I don't think this is a coincidence that it seems to have happened since the last Update notifier update.

Hi Gid.

I only caught the update to update notifier happen because I have a notification pop-up that I noticed last Wednesday. It stays running in the background once MEP is closed until you shut the PC down. Then it stays off until you open MEP again. At least that is what happens at my end.

That does sound about right to me Peter but doesn't explain why MEP suddenly didn't like Gid's previous driver.

How sudden was sudden.....maybe something else like Windows updated something in between? Also I presume HEVC with HWA had been exported previously with this driver?

Your processor is a 7th generation which contains the HD630 GPU, Rays and mine are later generations which contain the UHD 630 - read my reply to @CubeAce here, which you then questioned about changing your processor.

The update to update notifier happened after the Windows update and now there has been a second Windows update after. So I don't know which is possibly responsible. That is why I asked which version of the update notifier people had. All I do know is we have now had two instances of the HD 630 driver not working with MEP where it previously did on older processors that on the Intel site says they should run HD 630, but now Gid has managed to apply it to his version of Windows and MEP appears to be happy with it.

Do you mean the Intel Driver update notifier ie the Intel Driver Assistant?

If so, can you use its full name to avoid confusion with the Magix Update Notifier (previously called Magix Connect, Network Sync).

It is interesting to note that there have been three .Net 3.5 and 4.8 updates since the 28/06/2020 - KB4552925, KB4565627 and yesterdays KB4569745.

I have a suspicion that KB4552925 may have been causing some issues on some devices - it was too much of a coincidence that issues appeared immediately after updating to that patch on my laptop, but not my PC - Bluetooth poor performance, Fn key combinations not working - I uninstalled that patch and after several reboots everything returned to normal. Now seems to be OK with the latest patch installed.

No, I meant the MEP update notifier.

I wouldn't know about wi-fi. I'm hard wired and not much of a short cut man.😉 Slow and sometimes when I get the urge, methodical. The only difference I've noticed between Windows patches is now New Blue Titler Pro 6 loads before then immediately quitting as soon as I touch the interface. I have also played with some programs and the Graphics Performance settings and found Cubase runs better on the High Performance setting.

Yes, there have been a lot of Windows updates lately.
