Hello, Welcome

Try and temporarily disable Windows firewall, anti virus software including windows defender and try again.

There could be an interruption in your Internet connection, the download server could have gone offline, did you try again?

update !

I installed Movie Edit pro16 Plus I bought 5-6 years ago...and everything works OK, and - honestly - I didn't find any big differences ( if any) from 2022 Suite. So my question is : Do I really need Suite 2022?

CubeAce wrote on 11/20/2022, 3:04 PM

@Greg123

Short answer is no IMO, you don't need it if it is working and you are happy with it.

Changing programs often leads to compatibility problems with older projects and runs the risk a new program may not run as well on an older machine.

Sometimes upgrades are needed to keep pace with newer camera developments or something in the current program never got the fixed bug you were after. But other than that what is actually that much newer that becomes a must have?

Hi

To determine what was causing the crashing of MMS 2022 Suite, without the hassle of trying to pulll apart the log file, run the Windows Reliability Monitor - it is available by several routes

  • Inside the Windows Control Panel under System and Security, Security and Maintenance

    OR

  • Click the Windows menu button and with start menu showing, type reliability

Look for entries similar to those shown below, when you select a date, for Movie Studio 2022 - this is from windows 11, Windows 10 should be similar.

Double clicking one of the fault notifications, the dialog in the red box opens and details what the Faulting Module was.

Post a screenshot of that dialogue, along with the version number of MMS 2022 as found under Help, About.

. . . . in Security and Maintenance I don't have a window like your screenshot. Am i missing something . . . .

Yes, Microsofts inconsistent naming the feature, they call it Windows Reliability Monitor, however to get to see the results you have to select View Reliabilty History. - I should have mentioned that, my apologies

Another quick way to get to it is to press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog, then type in perfmon /rel and click OK.

Interesting, maybe, normal definitely.

Click the red circle, when there is one, in the Application failure row of a date column. Warning: this is a 'down the 🐰🐰🐰 hole' feature.

Hi.

To get to the control panel I simply type Control Panel into the Windows search box but really I have a desktop icon for that.

From the Control Panel, select the following.

Then

@johnebaker

Hi John.

I just never realised those files ever got updated.

I used this function some time back when I had my mouse problem. It didn't really help solve the issue.

I also have a God Mode Icon on my desktop to get to all the old tools easily.

To make that, just simply make a new folder on the desktop and rename it with the complete following text underneath.

.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Including the full stop at the beginning and both brackets. Press enter and the folder should get the Control Panel icon. Open the folder and

OK, I found it, this is a screenshot...

For my understanding, the only difference being OK on my previous PC is Windows. Worked OK on Win10 Home, cannot open on Win10 Pro. Also , my previous version of Magix - Movie Edit 2016 Plus works OK on my new PC with Win10Pro.

Can you solve this problem?

@Greg123

Hi

Thanks for that:

The line: Fault Module Name:    OpenCL.dll indicates that the issue is with the graphics card drivers.

Update the Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers to the latest version - 31.0.101.3790 / 31.0.101.2114 - available from here. - you need the Windows DCH driver (top one).

Do you have an AMD graphics card in the PC as well as the Intel® HD Graphics 530 ?

If so update its drivers to the latest version as well.

Hi

Can you post a screenshot of Windows, Device Manager, with the Display adapters option open as shown below

Also while in Device Manager, double click the Intel GPU and in the Properties window that opens,select the Driver tab - what is the Driver version shown there - I do not trust driver update managers of any form.
