Hi 👍 One prob i am trying to resolve & the final & main reason why i bought this graphics card, is if i place a couple of pics in magix, zoom out, reduce the preview, then try move the pics outside the aspect/image, the program crashes, if i don't move the pic totally off & leave a small bit overlapping it's fine, if i set it on compatibility mode it allows me to move them completely beyond the image area boundary, is that what you mean about disabling it? if so that's not fair 😢, i bought this to try improve Magix usability, I had this before i got this new card After installing it in when i was going through trying out the different settings for exporting, turning the internal graphics from enabled, disabled & auto, i tried this each time & it till crashed on all occasions, ?😖🤔 The card has 2 drivers, a game ready & studio, neither made this work.

Hi Gid.

I have no idea what you are on about taking images outside of the boundary making MEP crash. Any clip should not be going on beyond an edge point of a frame. It would not surprise me if MEP crashed if you placed it further. I have no idea what the point would be in doing that.

But Congratulations.

Whatever there is for you to set up wrong, you have managed it 👍😉 so well done.

No, to using Game drivers,

No, to using compatibility mode for Windows,

No, to using alternative rendering mode 2.

Make sure you are using the latest UHD drivers for both the Intel GPU and graphics card.

Make sure Magix Video deluxe Plus is selected in your Intel graphics settings as a classic app to be run in Power Saving Mode.

Do not disable your graphics card.

Make sure you have all the latest drivers and updates as well as at latest Direct-X 11. Preferably Direct-X12.

Set up MEP in the video section as follows obviously choosing your own graphics card or selecting the Intel GPU for both settings if the alternative doesn't work.

Then if needed you can fine tune the rest of the system.

Ray.

Hi

I can replicate the apparent 'crash' you are having with MEP using your method - the program does appear to freeze when you acknowledge the HWA dialog it is a bug - please file a bug report.

AFAICS the dialog does not close and holds the focus preventing further mouse input not allowing the focus to return to the main program interface, however pressing the ESC returns the program to normal and you can continue editing.

Assuming what you are trying to do is have the 3 images off screen and you are going to keyframe animate them to fly in there is an alternative way to doing this with no need to preview screen size - use the Effects, Size & Position dialog and enter values for Top and Left, pressing the Enter key after entering a value.

If you look at your video clip you can see these values changing as the images are moved.

Hi Gid.

Sorry, but until John mentioned it, I missed the video. It was the only image I didn't click on thinking it was large enough to make out. Sorry for some of my earlier comments. I can almost feel oyur frustration.

I do similar things all the time but never take the complete frame I'm moving beyond the edge of the main frame. Just far enough to be out of sight. It's never resulted in a crash or had the need to change the settings in the program / display options box. You should still get the same movement as long as the angles remain the same. If you need the delay at the beginning just move the tracks back to the desired start point.

Hi Ray, No prob n Thanks yes i have it as you mention, NVIDIA is in Studio driver & graphics settings is set to classic app in Power Saving Mode 👍 It doesn't matter how far i zoom out of the preview frame, it's when the image leaves the edge,

I don't do this very often but if I'm using a sliding alpha mask or i as John said to keyframe animate them to fly in, in the vid i posted i was using png's that are transparent except the writing, but with a full pic/jpeg I have to have the image totally off screen or that little part would be seen on the edge,

John thanks the Esc does allow the program to continue, pressing Esc turns the settings to compatibility mode but even if i reset the image back in the centre or undo all so that it's back to how it was when i first imported the image i can't then turn compatibility mode off & use Standard mode & NVIDIA, when i do i get the same error msg,

Sorry i don't know how to file a bug report?

Hi Gid.

I'm not completely sure as your motherboard may have something to do with this, but my Intel Graphics drivers seem to be a newer release than yours.

But as John said it seems to be a bug. I haven't tested it but John seems pretty sure.

Just use the support button above at the top of this page and give a description of what is happening to you and say another member who is an administrator of the forum can confirm your findings.

I don't know if that will carry more weight or not. You could also provide a link to this thread.

I use jpg and bitmap images.

Hi, yes i noticed that, I'd checked all drivers i could find, windows update & device manager update driver on the intel graphics, but i looked at support on the Intel Graphics Command Center, clicked Download graphics driver, that took me to Intel driver & support assistant that told me there was an update, i downloaded that & it now reads as yours 27.20.100 Thanks, 👍

I've had a play with the display options in Magix Program, not found a configuration that works yet without it returning to compatibility mode, I'll keep trying & I'll look into the support button for the bug report 👍 I'm thankful for the esc key mention John, i don't do this kind of thing very often, i just cut & edit vids for YT but at least i can leave it Standard mode with the Nvidia graphics, then if i do play around dragging things outside the area & it does give that error i can carry on without closing the program 👍

Hi. Gid.

Although John has stated it's a bug I'm worried that because you are going outside of the area you specified as your resolution for the project, that this is what is tripping the system up. Just getting the text out of sight works for me. Speed of text re-entry can be dealt with in key frame editor along the time line along with when it appears.

Why the need to drag them so far?

Hi, the png text with transparent background was a bad example, if i use a jpg pic, i can't drag it far enough without the edge showing, the resolution is 1080 x 1920 wide, if i drag the picture to to the right, off screen, 1921 from the left it crashes, If i only drag it 1919 from the left it is ok but when exporting it leaves that 0001 on the edge of the screen. But i want to just drag it without controlling exactly that 1919 i don't want a error msg popping up just because i've gone a bit beyond, when in compatibility mode I can drag it as far as i like, This example i mention here is dragging it 0º vertically to the left, if i want the picture to go up right 45º i def would have to drag it beyond 1080 x 1920. Magix includes the Zoom feature so you can work outside the area, I understand it's a bug, As i say if it works in compatibility mode why can't i get it to work with the NVIDIA card (that isn't a question as such 😉 more a query )

on here i have a pic where i put a white pic on top because it shows well what i'm trying to say & i have dragged it about 50% to the right

here I've dragged it to 1919, all's fine & i export it

the resulting picture has a white line down the right hand side

If i drag the white pic just beyond to 1921 so it is def off screen i get the error msg,

I'm not trying to export images or videos with the pic outside the visible area as i show here but before it's (alpha mask, jpg, bmp, png or whatever) moved into or out of shot i want it completely outside the screen, Imagine i was working on a vid clip, i put a pic on top with an alpha mask, with keyframes i slide the alpha screen off to the right beyond the 1920 so it reveals the pic, while editing if i accidentally move the alpha screen beyond 1921 the error msg pops up, the program won't let me turn the display options back to nvidia from compatibility mode even if i move the alpha screen back within the 1920. i can either carry on in compatibility mode or close the program then reset display options to nvidia n try not to go outside the 1920.

To conform after further testing ithe crashing occurs when the NVidia card when it is set as the GPU in the Settings, in the Video mode as shown below

Switching the GPU to the Intel iGPU there is no crashing.

Yes, the top box should always be the Intel GPU.

If putting the nvidia card in the bottom box still makes the pc crash then, use the Intel GPU in both boxes.

I can also confirm your findings. Two instances work but a third trips the program and freezes it for a while during what I would call my normal configuration.

👍 I have no choice on the top box monitor1 intel, i think that stopped having the option of nvidia when i went back to the bios intergrated graphics i set for the faster export, I've been playing with it & as long as i set the second box down to intel when i import & then drag out to the side, i can return the second box down to nvidia & it will play, i think, Do you have to close the program to fix these changes or are they changing as i change them with the program open?

Good question. Bad answer. Sometimes they stick. Other times it's best to change the settings and close down and reopen. Normally I find if the Intel GPU is not in the top box it doesn't stick changes don't stick. Your system may behave differently. I have always used ASUS motherboards so not familiar with your one.

Trying to change from the default setting in bios seems to make MEP less stable and not faster with the short experiments I made. Maybe you are better at overclocking but it's not my forte.

Hi

. . . . I have no choice on the top box monitor1 intel . . . .

This option is for displaying the preview on an additional monitor - however you get no transport controls as shown below - this is on a dual monitor setup. By default the setting has no effect as it is unchecked.

Leave the second box selected on the Intel - this will stop the crashing when set to the NVidia which will occur when you move the 3rd object off the screen, no matter which method you use or zoom level of the preview window.

This does have a big effect, a performance hit, if it is checked however as it is designed to output full Res. RGB to the second monitor.

Hi, just thought i'd share this, still loving the fast export, in one of the first vids i posted in this thread the Intel GPU was working at about 20%, I've notice it's working harder/more in the past few exports I've done, I haven't changed any settings, I get very regular Intel updates, I don't know if that has had anything to do with it but it still exports in about ½ the movie length, this one is 22min exported in 12mins 👍👍😁😁 Thanks again for the help on this one i still appreciate it 👍

@Former user

Hi Gid.

I have had about three Intel GPU updates in the last four to six weeks and to be truthful I haven't found any difference in the export times although the amount it's working does seem to have been increased. Mine is maxing out to 100% a lot with graphics processing on exporting. I suspect If I have a bottleneck in my system it is somewhere else.

Ray.
