Check that you do not have a pending Windows update that is blocking the installation - restart the computer - Windows button, Power, Restart not a Shutdown.
If by that do you mean if you download the program from the website again or your user account, would you get the latest version without the need to update, then the answer would be no.
If you scroll down to the bottom of this page to the grey area and click on the word Imprint, it should take you directly to the Magic contact form to file a request for tech help from the Magix staff. They may take a couple of days to reply.
[Update] That link appears to have gone. You should get that option in your Magix account instead.
It might but it would need an uninstall and then a clean of the registry to remove any sections of the program that would have been left behind as some components often are with a program uninstall. As to your question about ftu apps, as I have no idea what they are, I cannot advise. Even then it could be a port problem. or even components of Windows missing. Which version of Windows are you on?
i have windows 11 home(i think.surely not pro). i did uninstall the ftu apps topaz ai video enhance 3.1.10, davinci resolve studio 18 and luminar. then i did a cleaning with wise disc cleaner, wise registry cleaner and topped off by privazer. still no update. so i just turned it off not to show again. if magix can give me a download link, i would appreciate it. thx
Looking at the ftu apps website I mediately got a malware block from my antivirus. You may have an infected system. In which case I have no idea what to advise.
ok. yes. kaspersky tried to prevent my installing an ftu app. the developer at the site says it is a false positive. so i tried it. maybe that's probably why it won't update. thx
hi. yes i've registered. thx. i have now downloaded and reinstalled an image of windows and your application. this time there are no ftu apps but still it won't update. the problem seems to be on your side now.
Please remember these are user to user forums so Movie Studio is not ours and the problem not on our side.
Prior to any attempt at reinstalling MS did you first ensure that everything connected with the previous installation was removed? Even reinstalling Windows cannot guarantee that the previous installation of MS was completely removed.
Also, you say you reinstalled an image of Windows. Was this a backup image which could contain elements of the previous installation of MS rather than a completely new installation of the OS?
Hence my initial welcome and sorry if you thought you were talking to a Magix staff member.
No-one here, including the moderators are Magix staff. To communicate with them you must use the contact support form to get Magix staff support.
On the other hand, the people replying to most topic threads here are running the Magix programs with no problems with the updating procedure, so unlikely to be a problem with the program. We have seen people who have not been able to download the program and often it is rectified by them contacting Magix and Magix giving them a direct download link, hence my suggestion to contact them. It may be possible that a direct download link to the update is possible. That I don't know as your problem is the first I have seen on the forum.
hi i'm sorry if i upset you.the image backup installed was from a previous version with no ftu apps included. but i have yet to apply the 'fixes' of making sure that win updates is not updating and disabling my av. will report to you if i have any luck.ty
sorry. no such luck. i'm already exasperated. i just turned the update to not show again. it maybe that your update itself acts like a virus. for why do you want me to disable my av?
I was just trying to explain that no-one here has access to things like direct download links. That has to come directly from the Magix servers.
There is a problem which is known about and in the support archive that because the way the downloads from Magix do a computer 'handshake' to the host computer to validate the download is going to a subscribed user that any antivirus or firewall may block the download thinking it is suspicious activity. Disabling such programs during download negates that activity.
Some of us, because of this problem have added all the Magix folders to the exceptions 'not to scan folders'.
Here are some of my excluded from scanning folders.
Since adding those folders I do not suffer this problem. I think other users here may also have done the same but may not have if they have not suffered this problem. It seems to depend on which version of windows they use and any additional protective measures their systems may have. I am running Win 10 Enterprise with Avast.
