Video replay speed faster than original loaded video

Hi Ray,

Further to the above, here is the video showing what I did. Same thing in MS2023 and same thing if I make the project 25fps. It works every time. Export settings are the default that I always use.

Yup, that's half the length of the sound file playing at half speed but correct pitch.

Notice you are missing the second verse with the cord change.

I have to agree with Ray. Looking at your video from 32 seconds, when you change the fps, the audio does not move; it is still at 12 seconds.

Compare your final 30 second audio

with my 12 second audio

and the full 32 second audio

Ok Ray. I listened to it using WMP and heard the audio right through. WMP gives an error message near the beginning stating that "We can't play the video for P1020363 because its encoding settings aren't supported. You can still listen to the audio."

Andy, no. In VPX when I put the video on the timeline, I hear exactly the same audio speeded (sped?) up as I got by changing the speed to 10fps. I don't hear the chord change and the ending is identical to the modified speed version, just slower. What is missing is part of the song.

I tried the video in a few different video editors to see what would happen:

Vegas Edit Pro 18 - clip came onto the timeline but only on an audio track but with no sound - or image. Playing back showed the counter moving but not the playback marker. Maybe someone with Vegas 20 can test this.
Vegas MS 2016 - got full video and audio at the right speed on the timeline!
Pinnacle Studio 23U - got full video and audio at the right speed on the timeline!
Corel VideoStudio Pro 2021 - got full video and audio at the right speed on the timeline!

I now understand the problem, but would likely never have noticed unless there was some dialogue that was mismatched or someone pointed it out.

Looks like one for Magix to figure out.

Vegas 18 Pro audio import only. Playback marker does not move on playback. Output volume meter shows continuous overload with a DC output until around 13 seconds of play into the file. Then soundtrack starts, meters register properly, track only plays half way through then goes quiet again with the meters returning to show overload of a DC output until end of track. At no time does the playback marker move. Sound quality surprisingly good.

@CubeAce Something happened between 18 & 19 then, @browj2 mentioned almost the same thing but for me 19 & 20 are fine. I have VP18 download but don't really want to install it, might have to do out of curiosity tho 😒

@CubeAce 👍 Yeah but what if it works differently on my machine, what if it's something to with my different codecs & plugins, I think I might have to reinstall VP18 or else I'll have to go through the rest of my life not knowing, I won't be able to sleep or concentrate on things, my life would just fall to bits if i don't 🤔😒🤣🤣

The only Odd thing I see here is older Vegas doesn't cope whereas new Vegas does and old MEP is working and new MMS / VPX isn't.

I'm putting my money of the programs playing musical chairs at this point.

MEP 2022 played and exported normally.

VPX same result as other file but full audio track at double speed as far as I can tell. When stretched both stretched together. slower pitched audio

Vegas Pro 20. No video. No audio as far as I can see within the file showing. Still audio section imported only. Running time reported over five hours. Again solid meter showing DC output only but this time the file length of the audio section displayed as over 5 hours and the play marker moved.

Vegas Studio 16. Would not import saying QuickTime was not on my computer. It is and the program imports other mov files.

Please no-one else puts files like this up for test. I'm not keen on the DC offset signal going through my preamps. It's giving an very audible thump when started or stopped.

VP19 was the same as VP20

Ray I do not get any DC Offset thump when starting/stopping, the DC offset measures at -28dB is this what you are seeing?

Hi John.

I possibly used the term DC offset for that maxing out of the meters you see in my images while the file runs for the want of a better term. I agree what seems measurable is small but whatever is making those meters go off the scale is much larger. (See the Vegas 16 image) When that starts or stops I'm getting a massive thump around 25 to 30Hz from my speakers which means for whatever reason the speaker cones are being held in (or out) for the duration of the playback while those meters show the overload. That's not good for the voice coils or any component parts between.

Where the audio plays slow or fast it is not a problem.

It may be a Windows thing because MEP 2021 is also saying QT isn't installed here, but it is (v779, as well as QT Lite).

Import issue solved with Vegas Pro (14) - it requires the QT player to be installed - I only had Essentials installed.

The audio is also OK in VP14

I do not normally install the Player.

Hi John.

I remember you saying the player was not needed some time back so never bothered to install it.

With the QT player. VPX 14 is as it was before, as is Vegas Pro 18 but the thump is now a lighter sounding click.

Playback in Vegas Movie Studio 16 is now correct.
