@DanM. Did you install all updates and is the version you have currently installed at version number 32? If yes, you have already Music Maker 2024 installed. There is no need to buy an upgrade, except you want the paid new features.

The version without loops unlimited can be found here: https://www.magix.com/int/music/music-maker/premium/

If it helps to know, the current 2021 Premium version I have says that it's 64 bit. When I try to install the 31 patch update, it tries to install and then quits at step 7 of 9.

If I end up needing to purchase the 2024 Premium upgrade, should I purchase from within my program or my account?

If I purchase and install the 2024 Premium upgrade, will I have any problems with VST's, soundpools of anything else I've previously purchased?

SP. wrote on 12/3/2023, 1:38 PM

@DanM. Usually there shouldn't be any problems. But I recommend to finish your projects before updating. I don't know why the uninstallation fails. You might try to install Music Maker 2024 Free Edition directly from Magix.com. This will also replace your current version 2021.

I'm trying to decide by the end of today (12/3) if I should purchase the upgrade to MMM 2024 Premium from my current MMM 2021 Premium version. My current version is 30.0.4.44, I've tried downloading and installing the 31.0.1.13 without success. I keeps saying that a program is open, but I don't have any others open. If I purchase MMM 2024 Premium, I'm looking for the best method, from within my MMM, my account, or the Magix website? I don't want to screw anything up with my VST's, soundpools or other already purchased items. Any help is appreciated.

DanM. wrote on 12/3/2023, 1:55 PM

Can I update my MMM 2021 Premium to 2024 Premium without purchasing an upgrade, since I'm more than 2 patch updates behind?

If I end up installing MMM 2024 Free Edition from Magix.com, will I potentially lose any projects, VST's, projects or any other items I've already purchased.

SP. wrote on 12/3/2023, 2:04 PM

@DanM. Yes, you don't need to buy Music Maker 2024. You won't get the new paid features. Your old features should transfer fine. But I recommend you finish your projects first in version 2021.

DanM. wrote on 12/3/2023, 3:02 PM

After I download patch 31.0.1.13, is it stored somewhere so I don't have to keep downloading it?

When I start installing this patch, it says, "There is already another version of the product available on your PC, The following version will be replaced: Music Maker (64-Bit)"

Is this correct? Am I safe to proceed?

DanM. wrote on 12/3/2023, 3:40 PM

I went to my account at Magix and noticed under My Products that I have 2 registrations of Music Maker, one is dated 2/28/2021 and the other was on 12/22/2021. There is no other information for these 2 registrations, except the date. I was going to look for my serial number and check for all update downloads available, but there is no serial number listed for either date, or any other information. All the other programs I've purchased have a serial numbers and downloads for "Installation program" and "Instructions". How can I find out more about the 2 Music Maker registrations I have?

SP. wrote on 12/3/2023, 5:30 PM

@DanM. I believe the update is stored temporarily as C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp\MxUpdate.exe. You need to copy the file to a different location.

Yes, you need to replace Music Maker (64-Bit).

If I remember it correctly, there won't be any serial number if you buy the Music Maker Premium Edition through the in-app-store. It will be simply activated for your user account. In case you bought it from Magix.con you should get a serial number. If you buy it from another vendor you usually get a voucher code.

DanM. wrote on 12/3/2023, 6:01 PM

Thanks SP.

Even though it's not necessary, I think I'm going to purchase the MMM 2024 Premium on Magix.com. I really want to have a registered product with a serial number.

What would be the best method to do this?

Should I download and install the free version of 2024 Premium first, then purchase the upgrade? Please let me know what you think would be the easiest and least problematic way.

Thank you for your time, advice and help in answering my questions, I sincerely appreciate it.

SP. wrote on 12/3/2023, 7:14 PM

@DanM. The advantage of iinstalling the free edition of Music Maker 2024 first is that you can test out how it runs on your computer. If everything works fine you can still get it the upgrade from Magix.com. This will unlock some additional VST instruments and effects from Native Instruments and iZotope.

DanM. wrote on 12/3/2023, 7:52 PM

Thanks. If I download the free 2024 version, will it automatically replace the version I'm currently using? Will it keep all my VST's and projects?

Hi browj2,

Thank you.

Do you think that the new or upgrade version of MMM 2024 Premium would work for me instead of the free version?

I know that Magix has sales often, but if I could purchase at the current promo price, it would be great to be done.

browj2 wrote on 12/4/2023, 7:09 AM

@DanM.

Hi,

You don't seem to be catching on. There is no Premium version. There is only 1 version of Music Maker and it's free. Any Edition, like Premium EDITION, is not the program. It's just gives you more stuff. If you have a previous Premium Edition, like 2023, you already have almost everything. The only thing that you get with 2024 Premium Edition is whatever is new - see Magix.com site for what is new with the Premium Edition. If you don't need the new stuff, then there is no reason to purchase it. Wait for the next Edition.

Watch this video. It's for Music Maker 2023 but the same applied to 2022 and for 2024.

Hi John,

Thanks, I got it, sorry I was on the run and didn't read everything over well.

I have 2021 Premium, so by installing the patch updates up to version 32 means everything is current, correct?

Thanks for the video.

DanM. wrote on 12/4/2023, 7:08 PM

Sorry to ask some last question about updating from 2021 to 2024.

Would there be any differences in installing update patches in my current program or installing the 2024 Free Version?

Is there a list of update patches available so I know how many I'll need to install from 30.0.4.44 to 32.0.1.8?

Thanks to all for your help and patience.

SP. wrote on 12/5/2023, 3:35 AM

@DanM. No, there wouldn't be any differences. After installing all available updates, one after another, you also will have the newest version of Music Maker 2024.

DanM. wrote on 12/5/2023, 4:43 AM

Thanks Again. I sincerely appreciate it.

After downloading update patch 31.0.1.13, I tried installing and get this message. I did this 3x and the same message appears. Does anyone know how to resolve?

emmrecs wrote on 12/5/2023, 11:20 AM

@DanM.

It would appear, from the error message and the screen behind, that you are trying to install Music Maker whilst also having a version of the program open and running. Is that true? If so, try closing the version that is open and then retry the patch update. (You may need to check in Task Manager whether any version of MM is running. I have found it does not always close as rapidly as one might wish!)

Thanks Jeff, I tried closing the screen behind the error message, but it closes down the ongoing update as well, when I try closing MMM from the task manager, it also closes the update. I'm still getting the same Files in Use message when trying to install the downloaded updates, any ideas? I see that SP. had a similar conversation with Eleyan on 5/27/23 and 5/28/23, but I don't know if the problem I'm having is related to updating Windows, nor do I know how to update Windows

Hi,

if i will uprgade my MMM 2023 premium to 2024 premium, do i get 3 VST’s for free to downoload? Thanks.

emmrecs wrote on 12/6/2023, 11:17 AM

@DanM.

nor do I know how to update Windows

That is a potentially very serious problem, although Windows will normally update itself "automatically".

To check on the status of your Windows updates do the following:

  • Right-click on the Start icon, bottom left corner of your screen.
  • From the menu that opens, choose Settings.
  • On the next screen choose Update & Security.
  • Then choose Windows Update.

What does that screen show for you?
