Hi John

That is odd!

It cannot be the GPU that is driving the particular monitor as the other buttons appear to be working?

Did you try resetting VPX 13 to its default settings?

John CB

John,

I just tested on my primary pc. The Paste Mode button IS working for me as expected, just as you show on v.12. I'm running the same version as you. V.13.0.1.107.

Like a prior commenter (Don?), IF you press the Range select bracket ([) prior to pressing STOP on the Source Screen, VPX13 crashes. However, if I do it as you show: Press play from the Browser, Press Stop in the Source Monitor. Select the IN-Point Bracket (and Out-Point Bracket), and press the Paste button (which is not grayed out for me), then the clip shows up on the Timeline as expected.

Thanks for checking the Edit Wave Externally.

Did you try adding Samplitude as the external audio editor? It should open in wave edit view allowing you to use the C&R suite tools.

YES!

I just tested it with Samplitude ProX5. It works as expected here. So that's good news!

Hi Magix redaction.

After seeing the last update mention that some aspects of the program now require Direct X 12 which I have suspected for some time now even with MEP2021 that the minimum system specs page should now reflect this?

It will have a big impact on the additional graphics cards that can now be used.

Ray.

Hi @CubeAce,

Thanks for the headsup. Direct X 12 is necessary to get full control of all GPUs but is not available on all computers.

Computers running on Windows 8 or older usually use the "first" GPU. However, if Direct X12 is available, it is used by Video Pro X13 automatically.

Best wishes,

Yes, but there are a lot of older GPUs (nvidia) that accept Direct X 12 but can only access feature sets within Direct X 11 that have the required amount of ram. Or am I missing something?

Hi

Is it me or has there something changed with the way the playback markers are working. I have just upgraded to .117 I noticed this straight away. I'm used to having the marker (with arrow on top) move inline with the video, now how ever a new line roll along with the video leaving the arrowed marker in place. When I stop the video playing this new marker disappears. Any ideas?

Hi

Sorry to say the cursor behaviour is not new - it has been around for at least 7 years in MEP and VPX

I no longer have an older version of VPX installed however this is it in MEP 2015 - I am using the Spacebar to stop/start - it is the same if you click the play button.

Don - you should find that when the cursor disappears it is back at the beginning of the timeline if you have the option Ray indicated above turned off.

Okay, so Video Pro X13 | Version 19.0.1.117 is out now.

First impressions:

- I was able to work on a short project without any problems! (My feature usage was admittedly quite small).

- In starting the project with the opening dialogue, I was unable to assign my desired folder location. (Folder was grayed out).

- For Hardware Encoding -- when assigned to GPU (in the Export options) in combination with Intel GPU (for processing) and Radeon GPU (for export), they are doing the Heavy Lifting as revealed by Task Manager (75% Intel 630, primarily 3D) and 40% Radeon RX 580, primarily Video Encode 2). Interestingly, the CPU is only running 5-10%! Only 3 cores doing much (7 doing a bit, and 6 virtually sleeping). A 7-minute video took 7:40 to process. With Video assignments swapped (i.e. Radeon for Processing and Intel for Export -- via Program Settings>Device Options), it took about 9:15 for the same 7-minute export.

Is anyone getting sub 1:00 minute processing per minute of video with any combination?

I would think that rendering time would depend on the type of video and what was done to it on the timeline.

You would I think, have to be more specific in what type of video you are working on and what editing you did with it, to what format was it exported.

johnebaker wrote on 8/5/2021, 4:54 AM

@Craigster

Hi

. . . . Is anyone getting sub 1:00 minute processing per minute of video with any combination? . . . .

Yes, however there are a lot of if/and/or conditions from the multitude of combinations from the following variables:

  • Export resolution.
  • Export codec/format
  • Source video resolution
  • Mix of video and images
  • Transitions applied
  • Titles
  • Effects applied

The fastest, however of very limited use option, is to use Smart copy, however 'in the real world of editing' this is not the best reference figure.

What you get as the fastest real world export time is not the same as I would get due, to the above variables and hardware combinations.

It is interesting that you get the Radeon RX 580, primarily Video Encode 2 for encoding, in my combination of hardware the UHD 630 is doing the encoding with the RTX 2060 supporting.with other processing ie acceleration some effects and plugins eg Neat Video De-noiser.

Just isolated a bug that was filling the VPX error log on a larger project, and can now reproduce it at will:

Display settings of NV, NV, NV (works OK with Intel, Intel, Intel)
Movie settings Ultra HD TV 16:9 (3840x2160) 25fps
Any JPEG image (possibly any image file) in the timeline, even if it is the only thing in the video
Apply Size/Position/Rotation effect to resize the image (larger or smaller)

Now export to HEVC (using "MP4 Ultra HD 3840x2160" 25 preset).

When the resulting output file is played, it is black where the resized image should be. There are (in my test case) 125 identical error messages in the log, which is one per frame of output, since the image is 5 seconds long. The message is:

[VideoEngine]: d:\Jenkins\workspace\Release\Video_Pro_X\mumaeasy\Source\Videoengine\Video1.cpp(1957) Video Engine Mix FAILED

There is no d:\Jenkins\ directory on my computer (and never has been!); VPX is installed on the C: drive and D: is used purely for data.

By the way, exporting as HEVC HD works OK. My NVidia driver is the latest Studio version.

Can anyone else reproduce this?

Sev.

Added: using VPX13 version 19.0.1.117
