I didn't really understand the changes in size/position rotation (and still don't!) or that horizon levelling had become orientation until I read your comment above. Some things are a*** about face compared to whats gone before. For what it's worth I've attached the screenshots I think you mean but I can only assume that the layout is virtually the same as VPX. Sorry if I misled or confused you.

The rotation and orientation work as you say it does in VPX13 without rotation handles in the preview screen but with anchor points. And as for Sequence of rotations I wonder if Magix knows what they do , as the online help and the downloaded manual have no mention.

I must say though, that for the first time in 2 maybe 3 years (and versions) I'm actually enjoying working with MEP 2022. I hope it lasts.

Has the mouse-stealing backup been fixed? Every time the auto backup fires here in MEP 2021, it grabs my mouse and puts it in the centre of the timeline. Very annoying.

I have never seen that happen. Ever.

For my main problem with the program please read the top Magix announcement where I have stated my main concern to Magix redaction. That could be worrying for a lot of you if you experience similar problems. On the plus side it may well be a lot kinder on a wider range of machine capabilities if the program is set up correctly for the individual machine. Once that is done it seems extremely stable in use and smoother and has an odd result I did not expect. Namely on my machine at least, exports at resolutions of less than 1080 x 1920 have sped up a lot whereas at 4K and above they have slowed down quite a bit. Changing monitors and hence for me which graphics card ends up doing what within MEP is also making a huge difference between how it behaves and export times favoring the monitor using the more powerful GPU.

I will post more comprehensive findings this evening when I have more time.

I use a wireless mouse and keyboard and on occasion with 2021 my mouse froze for a few seconds when auto backup starts. I plugged in a wired mouse for a few days and it didn't happen. I just lived with it before 2022. As for 2022 it's not happened yet but it's early days.

Strangly, sometimes when I audio clean or set volume that sort of thing within MEP 2021 the preview screen goes black and will only come back by changing the card in the settings or opening another window within the project, Irritating but not worth a ticket yet I don't think, I'll see how often it happens.

The whole program has also, once or twice, hung for about 30 seconds but comes back without any problem. Again I'll wait to see if it deserves a support ticket.

Both of these could be me confusing the program as siz, zoom etc have me confused until I've done a bit more playing.

Just a suggestion to all, maybe we should have a dedicated topic for 2022 "problems" or maybe we should all use the sticky in important posts - this one may actually be read by a Magix person if not Stefan himself.

Any ideas is it possible to use Prodad Mercalli plugin in this new version 2022. Earlier version had it and it's great.

That plugin is now missing from the new program.

Any old project that used it now brings up this warning.

Opening such a project always for me ends up with MEP 2022 not saving the project at the end of a session and crashing MEP 2022 which then refuses to close and thinks it still has the last project loaded when it is not.

Look at the top bar of the program and see there is no project loaded below and no timeline view.

I am quite miffed about it as there is no 'Current project' to close.

That Mercalli thing was big suprise for me, because new program should open ealier version projects. Now I reinstall 2020-2021 version to another computer and try to work with that somehow.

Having read all of the above and getting somewhat confused, is it worth installing MEP Pro 2022, which I assume I can download free because my activation service is current until 27/04/2022.

It appears that installing 2022 will remove 2021, is that correct, so a full system backup should be carried out before installation, just in case of issues. Most of my work is mp4 so if the mp4 codec is no longer available in 2022, how do we get around it.

are there other possible issues that we should be aware of, ie. not able to open projects created in previous versions, (had that issue with another NLE) because filters etc used are no longer included in the latest version.

I was just finishing one quite big project and used Mercalli stabilization most handheld shots. Then I upgraded this new version and boom - 2021 version disappeared and no more stabilization for those shots. Really weird development step, I think. Now I try to reinstall 2021 version to another computer, but mp4-codec is missing and not yet reply from Magix. Work in progress....few more days. Where is engineer who developed train toilet 😄

Hi Robert.

Yes 2022 will replace 2021. All my work is with H264 so is still supported. It is the mainstay still of video editing.

It is possible projects will find non compliant effects are missing but the projects will open without them with the effect missing. It could be replaced with a newer effect. I am finding that shutting down a project using MercalliV2 stabilization which is now missing is causing problems not allowing me to shut down MEP 2022 after and resetting the program each time after a forced shutdown. Even if I save the project first with supposedly the alteration accounting for the missing plugin the next time that project is loaded with the alterations the same shutdown problem of the program remains. The project itself though seems fine. Not sure what to make of that.

where did you get those (Prodad Rt etc.) In 2022 premium I have only VEGAS video stabilization which seems to be quite useless = "click, luck and see what you get."

Thanks for responding Ray, I do have those proDAD filters in MEP 2021 Premium, but amzoom appears to indicate that they are not included in 2022.

I learnt a long time ago never to use the included Stabilizer programs, as they seem to change versions every time a new NLE version is released. I use proDAD Mercalli 5 standalone then import into the video editor after stabilization.

the blurb for MEP 2022 Premium states that it includes New Blue Stylizers 5 Ultimate, yet the download file selection does not include any New Blue effects, unlike 2021 which did, also there does not appear to be any proDAD filters in the download package, those filters would require an activation key, so could you explain how they would be successfully installed.

Hi Robert.

Those additional ProDad plugins I already had from previous MEP upgrades as included third party plugins. When the program updated they were already installed and did not need additional activation. The shots above were taken just before I replied in readiness. The only plugin I am missing is the what I thought was the basic Mecalli V2

I hope the reply above answers your questions. I tend to upgrade each time my 'subscription' is about to lapse but in the past the offered plugins have tended to vary every few months or so, so maybe I was just lucky at some point to acquire those.

I agree it is somewhat confusing, to say the least!

However, my understanding is that if a user buys the upgrade to MEPP 2022, that purchase includes those additional effects; OTOH if, because your Update Service is still current, you merely update MEPP 2021 to MEPP 2022 those additional effects are NOT included.

Seems that I bought last update 24.4.2020 to Premium version and i think it was automatically updated then to 2021 version. So I didnt get that Mercalli v5 as a bundle. Now while updating to 2022 version, Mercalli stabilizations was erased. Maybe i should look for 2021 bundle, if available somewhere.
