Hi, it's been a while since i used MEP Premium but preview rendered this 4k project to help it play better but it's ignored the crossfades, Is this expected?
MEP/VPX uses track 5 for audio effects that come with certain templates, and Audio tab files (songs and soundFX purchase through the Store). They will automatically be placed on track 5.
Thus, since a collage requires several tracks but needs to avoid track 5, they are set up to start with track 6 and beyond, except for the master_object which goes on track 1.
I have some collages that I made for different series of photos (up to 26) taken with a particular aspect ratio, using page turning transition effects, amongst others. They seem to have gotten lost in the change to the new computer. Time to look for them.

Hi
I do not have the Geometry collages for some reason (?), however I have been working on a project for some time creating something similar and used for testing with and without effects such as the Video level and Artistic blur, you have applied to some of your video objects. The effects make a big difference to the smoothness of playback.
Hi, Video level and Artistic blur is built in to the effect, the only thing i've added is the Skewed fx itself, but that's a good point, a closer look reveals more going on than just size, position & masking,..
Earlier I said that ME 2021 didn't have any trouble with using Design Elements- Simple Geometry / Skewed so I loaded it into 6 4K clips into VPX 11 (Not MEP I know but same vintage). I did have to do a pre-render but loaded the clips without using proxy files.
The result. Sorry about the lack of a soundtrack but I probably would have got a copyright strike.
I think I will hang on to my copy of VPX 11 as updating MEP also allows VPX 11 access to the additional third party effects.

Yeah interesting how it plays well,🤷♂️🤔
I don't put music in my videos on YT that are Public, I monetise & earn from, but I've had a few notifications of copyright when i share others projects with music in, i don't think it's a problem if the video isn't Public & not monetised, they always say 'This is not a copyright strike. This claim does not affect your account status'
I just leave them as Unlisted like yours is, monetisation is off when uploaded & I delete not long after. I've no strikes to date & had a few of these notifications.
All videos uploaded to YouTube now go through a copyright check regardless of how they are listed. Like you I have had a few de-monetised but not take-down notices to date.
What fascinated me about doing the experiment in VPX 11 was the really big difference in the processing chain. It is next to nothing compared to MEP 2022. So the newer Infusion Engine is faster at rendering (If your computer specs are up to it.) but has it been worth the tradeoff of easier functionality and processing? Considering the power requirements for newer graphics cards and the additional cost of running one I'm not sure.
As a side note did anyone notice because I didn't use any sound tracks there are no gaps in the tracks?

Just tried that skewed with no sound track & it still created gaps, I also tried the one that is just is called 'Collage' I did about a dozen, n i can only describe them as bollocks, none loaded or played right, I don't use these collages tho 🤷♂️🕺
Some of them work in MEP 2022 at lower resolutions and frame rates but at 4K they tend to be useless.
Anchor in Popular Shapes is one that seems to work OK in HD at frame rates up to 30fps. I'm not sure if using long clips hinders more than using shorter clips as I assume it has to just use the frames selected so involves selecting a section of the whole file as it is non destructive editing. The files also have to be copied to the working folder for best results.
. . . . Considering the power requirements for newer graphics cards and the additional cost of running one I'm not sure. . . . .
You should find that when the processor and RTX is not rendering their power consumption drops to near 'idle' and if you have a silent 'eco' power pack then it too will shut down its fan when power consumption is below a threshold.
. . . . Just tried that skewed with no sound track & it still created gaps . . .
Do you mean gaps, as in tracks 18 - 29 as shown in the image below or track1 and then the next occupied track is track 6?
If as above between objects, many collages create gaps for the effect to work correctly, see clip below, the object on track 1 called COLLAGE is an image file which acts as a spacer so there are no gaps on track 1 around the collage.
If you mean leaving tracks 2 - 5 empty this is by design as some effects and masks are attached to objects and need the track directly underneath the clip they are attached free.
As a side note did anyone notice because I didn't use any sound tracks there are no gaps in the tracks?

@johnebaker in his vid 2,3, 4 is filled but with no sound mine still created gaps

Weird tho how just now it seems to play perfectly well today, same project of 6 clips on the top track that i saved, applied Skewed, apart from removing the sound track that was part of the first clip i haven't changed anything, 🙃🤷♂️👍🤦♂️🤣
I was referring to the power output of such a graphics card under a hard load compared to a lesser card drawing less power but over a longer period for say rendering a project or while playing one. I don't have an app or a mains device for watching current draw of the total system so it's difficult for me to say one way or the other. Also I'm questioning my own decisions about whether a faster render time is worth giving up what was previously better playback performance on more complex projects. I think in the past I have upgraded purely to keep some third party effects and add new ones rather than performance gains which is fine with a new system but an experience of diminishing returns performance wise thereafter.
I also wonder what the power requirement is between using MEP 2022 and VPX 11 as the latter seems much less resource hungry.
Not that I'm complaining but more observing the increasing amount of complaints from users who do not understand the implications of upgrading and this last one was a big upgrade and with (IMO) serious problems even with up to date components. Not that the competition is any better but I maybe think the industry as a whole is now out of step with the consumer. I think stability and getting what you pay for all working as advertised from the start is now more important than new feature sets. With the current state of affairs I think a lot of people either can't or won't upgrade due to the increasing costs and general inflation means funds are being spent elsewhere.
Sorry I got a bit soap boxy there 😇.
I was referring to the gaps in tracks 2-5 which mine didn't do with no accompanying sound tracks in VPX11.
I haven't made any collages as I tend to use the size positioning instead for one offs I don't think I've used the same sequences twice ever for different projects.
You should turn your mic off when screen recording, I can hear how loud your computer is 🤣🤣🤣.

@CubeAce yep no proxy turned on either, they're still in the file folder from before i think but i don't know if they work if the lightning symbol isn't highlighted,
Yeah my PC is right next to my ear, it's a gentle fan noise here, & it warms the room up, the mic could be in a better place, it's just as well i wasn't coughing n farting in the background, been there done that 🤣🤦♂️👴
Proxies should only be enabled if ticked in the lightning box and active. My case is at ear height as well but mic disconnected unless needed, same goes for my camera.🤣👍
