No, this is a bug with Magix Movie Edit Pro's software. This error occurs everytime I import then export any file (regardless of the format).
Ultimately I will yet again have to uninstall then reinstall Magix, to see if that fixes this issue! :|
But I strongly do advise anyone else who's considering buying any Magix product to stop, pause, and research alternative brands before making your decision... As Magix software constantly has multiple issues & bugs (as evident by the 1,000s of other threads in the forum about various bugs) such as this one!
This is not a bug. MEP creates temporary files to help make playback go better. When you are finished the project, you can delete them. If you delete them before, when you next open the project they will be created again.

Sorry but if it was a planned feature of MEP that everytime you export a video file you will ALSO get a 2nd file created on your computer (alongside the saved video) then this would: a. Be the case for EVERY user of this software. b. Be mentioned clearly on their website as a feature, that every export will create 2 files (your mp4 video + a .HDP sounds file) c. Would of always happened, not only started happening a few days ago.
HDP files are temporary files created when a video clip with audio is imported. The HDP part is the audio. I have more than 30k on my computer including backups. When you are finished with a project, just delete them.
H0 files, I believe, are the waveform that is created if you have show waveforms on. Otherwise, MEP would have to create the waveform every time you opened the project, slowing down the opening.
This feature has been part of MEP for over 20 years.
. . . .export a video file you will ALSO get a 2nd file created on your computer (alongside the saved video) . . . .
You don't as as has been said before the are created on import. MEP also create proxy file if you have these turned on in the project settings - these are the largest files it cretes
. . . . . Be the case for EVERY user of this software. . .
It is - many other programs create temporary files that you never normally see as they are delete on close, eg Microsoft Word.
However MEP does not delete them because they are used every time you open the project they relate to.
This is a screenshot of the current project I am working on there are currently 457 temporary files in total
With the exception of Proxy files the H0 and HDP files are very small in size - there are 457 in the above project.
. . . . Would of always happened, not only started happening a few days ago. . . . .
You have always had at least one of them - the H0 file, AFAIK this is the small preview image used on the video object itself when on the timeline. The HDP file is associated with the audio part of the video and any audio files used in the project.
Hopefully this and what @browj2 has clears the misconception this is a bug.
….everytime you export a video file you will ALSO get a 2nd file created on your computer (alongside the saved video)
You do not. You are probably looking at one created when if you brought the exported file back into the timeline as in your recent tests to do with colour shifts!
Please stop calling everything that happens that you don't understand, a bug.
What I'd like is for those HDP files to be stored in a folder separate from the underlying file. When I'm looking at the video folder or folders, I'd like a clean folder with only my mp4 files.
If you use the Media Pool Import tab, you do not see the temporary files. Don't use Windows Explorer, use MEP Media Pool.
Are you aware that you can create links for Folders in the Import tab? This creates a virtual folder on the list so that you can quickly access the folders that you are using. Navigate to the folder, click on the parameter gear at the top of the Import window, Create link to folder. You can remove the link the same way once done.
I am aware that Magix creates a seperate sub-folder (called Temp Audio) in My Documents where these have been getting creates & stored for the past months.... ect (I don't mind that as I never look in that folder, and it doesn't invade my screen area)
However for the past week when I have my video file on Desktop (or any folder), Import it into Magix, Then Export it... One of these .HDP files is created on my Desktop now alongside the exported MP4 file.
I can and do ofcourse delete them yes, however when I'm processing 60+ videos over 2 days it's pretty irritating that Magix software does this! :|

Ok I will test it with a video file that's never been processed through Magix before, and see if when I export that it also creates a 2nd file next to the exported MP4... (or if this only happens when you re-import/re-export a video which has previously already been processed through Magix.
Please, Magix is the company, not a product. Use the product name. And, so as not to confuse those who try to answer, indicate that you are using the basic version, not Plus or Premium.
If this was Free software it would be understandable for there to be multiple issues... However this is expensive pricey software, but yet still has numerous errors.
Hence why I said anyone who is considering buying a Magix product should Stop • Pause • And review other brands before making any purchase.
I have just tested with a fresh video (never processed through MEP before)....
Put the video on my desktop, uploaded it into MEP, exported the video back to my desktop | However alongside the video mp4 file is a 2nd file (a .HDP file called ''Magix Sounds'').
If this wasn't a bug, and instead every time you export a video you will have 2 files created side-by-side, then this would be the case for everyone... However other users in ths thread have already confirmed that this does not happen to them.
Moreover this only started happening 1-2 weeks ago | Never happened for the previous months | So very clearly is a bug.
I will just have to uninstall then reinstall this software, and see if that fixes it. Is extremely annoying though that you pay so much money for a video editor, only for it to have multiple bugs & errors, resulting in you needing to uninstall & reinstall it regularly to fix them!
See this thread and my last question from April 1 of this year. You never answered. You insisted that a feature that I use almost everyday does not exist and that "Sorry but no what I have explained does not work for you, as magix software is simply too sub-standard to offer the function which I have stated."
You wrote that other users ... have already confirmed that this does not happen to them but then went on to say very clearly is a bug.
By any definition, a problem which affects only one user cannot be described as a bug. "Bugs" are reproducible on multiple systems by multiple users; what you are seeing is an anomaly unique to your system.
Please do not flame the software or the manufacturer for "errors" or "problems" that are not reproducible by other users.

Hello, my dad died the following day (from the virus) hence why I didn't come on here for 2-weeks after that, and haven't yet revisited that thread.
I will upload a video today of my screen in regards to that issue.

Do not use the desktop to put any files! Use a folder like you are supposed to do.
When you imported the file into MEP, the HDP file was created with the name of the file. Do this again but use a folder with the source file in it like in the image below and nothing else, not the desktop. Import the file into MEP. What do you see in the folder - the HDP file with the name of the file!
Create a new folder. Export the file from MEP with a DIFFERENT FILENAME into this new folder. There will not be an HDP file created in this folder and no HDP file will be created in the Source Folder with the name of the exported file.

I have already done exactly that | However a HDP file is still created in the source folder.
Yes, the HDP file is created in the source folder for the source file, not for the exported file. This is what we have been telling you.
Was an HDP written for the exported file? If your exported and source files have the same name, do not confuse the fact that an HDP file was created with the same name - it was created for the source file, not the exported file.
In the above, there is the MP4 file created, the MVP because I have the same name, but there is no HDP file created.
