Just purchased 2022 version Movie Studio Platinum and it freezes every time I start using it. Older version is still on the computer and works fine. New Version 21.0.2.1389(UDP3) What should I do, Uninstall and reinstall ? No error codes
Exactly what are you saying ? What else do you need to know ? How can I get a ticket # to get some help ? I have been a customer of Magix for many years and never had such issues with getting help. What happened to your company ?

@HomeMovieMaker This is a user based forum, not the Magix help desk, there are many people here willing to help but they are people just like you n me, they're offering their help for free, but first a little bit of info about your PC & media your using is needed because all that is known right now is Magix freezes when you try to use it, so please read the link @CubeAce posted & share as much as possible 👍👍
Full name of your CPU (processor), your GPU (graphics card) & the amount of RAM (memory), you stated which Magix program you're using but can you inc which Windows version,
In that link there is mention of MediaInfo, download it, it's free https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo After downloading, right click on the media in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here, 👍

The support system has changed over the years to a ticket based system which you can access through the Support link at the top of every forum page. There is also a Support 'help sheet' on how to contact support and raise a ticket here.

The processor model that @PATIENT-X copied over from a previous post - the i7-930 has no integrated graphics chip which is why you have been asked to provide details of the graphics card make and model.
Additionally what format and resolution video are you working with?
This information is essential, it is likely that Movie Studio is either not set up correctly for the computer/source video resolution or, worst case scenario, that the computer is not capable of running the program smoothly with the video resolution being imported. The hardware requirements combined with high resolution source video are much higher than for the software you previously had.
Thank you for the information provided so far. We can rule out Windows not being up to date but we also need the Intel processors complete ID. For instance I am running an Intel i9-9900K. That information should be able to be found in Windows Settings \ System \About.
There are hundreds of i7 processors out there, all with different specifications. I'm also not sure what the 930 is but if it is referring to an nvidia card it would be nice to know that model as well. At present I am guessing it is an nvidia GTX 939m in which case you are running a laptop due to the fact you are also quoting 12GB of memory which is unusual for a desktop but more commonly found on laptops, correct?
If so I would recommend going to the program settings in Movie Studio and in the Device manager settings change the Import, Processing, and Export settings to all Microsoft WARP. This may slow you machine further but may also stop any freezing from occurring.
There may need to be other alterations needed as well but for now see if that works.
Also. What is your last version of the program that works?
I'm assuming it is a Vegas version of Movie Studio rather than a Magix one.
I used the correct format of the processor name based on what @HomeMovieMaker posted in the other topic that @PATIENT-X copied the data from, in my post above.
I don't think it will matter either way. There is also an nvidia TX930m and I'm intrigued by the gap between the i7 and that number and the 12GB of ram. Also I think the version of MS that works will be older than MS 18.
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, It is a desk top, I increased the RAM to 12 . My other Magix program I still have installed is Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus HD and it works fine. In fact I created a movie on the old one opened it on Movie Studio 2022 Platinum was fine up until I tried to save it. Then the program stopped responding. My Motherboard is an Intel Desktop Board D850GB
Are the drivers for this up to date - the latest version is 512.59 (30.0.15.1259) ? If not update the drivers from here.
If they are up to date or the update does not fix the issue, in the Program settings, Device options tab, the Import, Processing and Export options you may need to try different combinations in, particular the Processing option may need changing to an alternate option. The 3 options are probably set to the GTX 1060,
If none of the above make any difference what is the video format and resolution you are working with? Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.
I do not have older versions of Movie Edit Pro on my machine. Do you?
I ask because if I open any old project created with Movie Edit Pro 2018 (The oldest version I have ever had) I run into all sorts of problems. The problems range from missing content, either missing effects or files such as background images, up to certain parameters either not being read correctly by the program or ignored.
One that frequently has to be readjusted is the frame rate of the project and I do not have the movie setting option set to 'Use Settings as presets for new movies' ticked. So often the sound track does not stay in sync until I manually set the frame speed to the correct one. Luckily on a given project I don't mix file types or frame speeds unless I have recorded some Slow motion footage.
Is it even a good idea to create a new project in an old version and expect it to run on a newer version of the program?
What does that mean? It freezes when you open the program before being able to do anything? Or it freezes when you do something? If the latter, then doing what? Please be precise and give details; we can't see what you see.
It freezes when I go to save my work ! I have Movie edit pro 16 still on the computer it works fine. I even started a movie on it then opened it up on Movie Studio 2022 Platinum and was fine until I went to save it. Also I tried the other program when I wasn't getting anywhere with the new one just to see what would happen. I just updated my video card driver, have not checked it out yet.

@HomeMovieMaker Hi, just because MEP16 is on your pc & it works fine doesn't mean MS2022 will, there's been quite a few changes to the program since then, so i would dismiss that train of thought,
Can you share a photo like this showing the CPU, expand the window so it includes the GPU, , right click on the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen - Taskmanager - Performance, you can use Sipping Tool that is in the Start menu - Windows Accessories to capture the image, then use the arrow button next to the smiley button at the top of a new comment to add that photo on here, ,
Also as John mentioned we can't see your screen so please provide the MediaInfo, download it, it's quick & it's free https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo After downloading, right click on the media in your Windows folder, open MediaInfo, choose Text from the View option, select all, copy & paste in a comment here, 👍
This might all seem like a pain but if you were to get in touch with Magix they would ask the same questions, only difference here is you don't have to wait for a day or two for an email reply, & the people here aren't getting paid, they're doing this because they actually want to help you 👍
I have been looking into your computer specs a bit more and your processor \ motherboard has only access to PCI express 2 while your Graphics card uses PCIe 3.
That combination is backwards compatible but will reduce the output processing speed of the graphics card by half. Whether this will have a negative effect on the program or not I can't say as I have no experience.
I am also concerned about the 12GBs of ram which would seem to indicate you are using three sticks of ram or two sticks of ram of varying capacity which could also be problematic.
I wish I could find more detail on the motherboard but it is discontinued and I can't find any relevant information on it's layout.

@CubeAce 👍 yep, i had a look but all the info on that board says released 2000 & ended support about 2003 but the GPU is 2016, , that's why i asked for Taskmanager view to see if we can work out what's what. 🤷♂️👍
I could not find the specs for the motherboard (Thanks Stephen) and got the performance figures from working backwards from the CPU specs via TechPowerUp and CPU World. (I started with CPU world).
I think there are 2 later motherboards with the same number but with a different suffix that would work with that CPU and it is possible that Windows may not be reporting the motherboard series correctly.
I think that must be the case as an AGP card slot would not be able to accommodate that nvidia card.
Either way that card is not performing as it should. The motherboard ram may also not be working to peak performance depending on what is actually in those memory slots.
By screenshot Stephen is asking you to use the print screen key on your keyboard and open Paint or snip and sketch and paste the image and then save as jpeg. Then upload that image. You also need to open up the Task Manager to extend lower to show all the drives and graphics card.
This is the best I can enhance your present image.
