I have installed Movie Studio 2022 successfully except for the 2 NewBlue Essentials 5 Ultimate and NewBlue Stylisers 5 Ultimate effects.
I start the program; it tells me that these are ready for download (individually), which I do and it then installs then successfully (?).
I restart the program each time, but the download invitation has not disappeared in either case. Have I missed a step somewhere (it does not ask for any codes during the process). Any help appreciated.
Could somebody confirm that "bumping" an object with the arrow keys when using S/P/R effect no longer works? All I get, even though the monitor window is active, is stepping of the Play marker (with no response when I tap the up or down arrows).
For S/P/R I left click and hold down the left mouse button and then drag to the left or right or type a value directly into the box.
Frame advance is the left and right arrow keys in 2022 not up or down and I must click the mouse somewhere within the preview monitor before it will activate.
. . . . "bumping" an object with the arrow keys when using S/P/R effect no longer works . . .
It works, however, like previous versions of MEP, it is the Up/Down arrows and you must click into the appropriate option field to adjust the parameter using the up.down keys.
Gents, sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear. In earlier versions, one could click in the selection box in the monitor (white ants, yellow corners, ala the current Section crop box) and accurately position the box with the four arrows. That feature, which I find far more intuitive than clicking in the number tumblers, one at a time, to activate arrow bumping of the selection box (or titles, for that matter). Pity. It appears the nerds have taken over: now this, after the loss of the zoom slider. The program is getting harder to use as time goes on.
IIRC correctly that method disappeared when the new combined S, P & R feature/interface was introduced.

Try the method using the Up/Down keys as I described - no need for clicking the tumbler buttons.
You can also make more rapid changes, as @CubeAce described, using the drag method in the tumblers - this is a little more refined then dragging the object on the preview monitor.
It is also still possible to drag the corners of the SPR using a mouse and repositioning the frame in the screen. Just reduce the monitors resolution to 50 % to start and keep away from the red circle when dragging around the screen.

John, I meant one has to click in the number boxes (not specifically the buttons themselves) to activate the arrow control. And I note the up/down arrows control left/right motion. Huh?
using the drag method in the tumblers
And you run out of space against the top of the screen when dragging up. It can be done, but why make it harder than it was before? The Magix developers should have a play with object control/positioning in Xara Phot and Graphic Designer; all four arrows bump (as MEP used to), ALT fine-bumps.

Funny you should mention that, Ray. In 15 years, I have never (needed to) zoomed out just to set up a zoom with SP (and now R), apart from one tacky effect of an aeroplane flying across the screen years ago. I always used Section; no need to muck around deliberately demagnifying the preview monitor just to see outside the edges, only to have to zoom back in to 100% when finished. That's why I have been harping on about the bugs in the Section effect, because it was such a great feature.
Technically you don't have to reduce the monitor down to 50% and can still grab the corners of the clip but I reduce the view in the monitor for two reasons. I can see the outline of the clip and also judge how much I have expanded the image percentage wise. Also grabbing the edge of the frame across the program I can run out of real estate to drag to. I just find it easier to reduce the monitors' view and worry about dragging the image off centre.
I do agree the changes are not overly welcome but combining the rotation with the size adjustment does make some things easier to perform. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

Looking at this in a different way - the Up/Down keys increase/decrease the value of the option you are adjusting whether it is horizontal, vertical or rotation.
It's the same with everything John. My current car does not drive in exactly the same manor as my first car (thankfully) and I doubt anyone that had the first version of this program would even recognize today's version.
The only problem is the rate of acceleration of change applies to everything.
Also I just got conformation on my Video graphics card that is the problem now.
Assuming my copy of MEP 2022 hasn't changed, what has changed in Windows 10?

But Ray, the opposite is applying with Magix. It is removing good features, not putting them in.
Is a flappy paddle gearbox taking away the ability to change gear or or a different method? Some would argue it is worse with less control while others know no better. Early attempts at the technology are harsh due to the relative crudeness of the technology but eventually gets better than the average persons ability but possibly still not better than a skilled driver. Magix has changed how SPR works. It adds functionality not available before without greater effort but has also for now at least cost some users more work and not less. Eventually the programmers may be able to please both users but for now they may just not know how or maybe it is to be more in line with other products so when you use one plugin the controls to the next are relatively the same. (I have no idea.) On the other hand they may not repair something they don't see as broken but simply changed. A lot will depend on how they see their market and end user develop.
The problem may also lie with us. Always wanting the newer, more shiny version when the old tools were already doing what we wanted. It is always a balance. It's one reason I'm not always in a hurry to upgrade.
Analogue AVI handling doesn't work properly. MMS 2023 incorrectly interprets the file aspect ratio, even for it's own MXVs. When an AVI is imported (eg 720x576 capture), it displays incorrectly in the Preview monitor as 5:4 instead of 4:3. This results in black pillarbox bars. However, when "Original Size" is clicked, the image widens to the correct aspect. SPR will then work OK, but Section and Camera/Zoomshot don't because the "Original Size" option does not exist for them.
This makes editing of analogue AVIs very difficult.
John, no I hadn't, but now have. Not sure of it's relevance? All these articles are of dubious value. The Resolution one was confusing and misleading. And the one you linked to..."After you've encoded your work, your computer will probably ask you for the container format." Really?
Ray, with respect, HUFF and LAGS are still widely used by the video fraternity for SD video capture and read by every other video program I have used, an area you are obviously not involved in. In any case, those two codecs are not Main Concept codecs anyway.
Frankly, I wouldn't believe a word in those info-grams. They are, in parts, misleading and inaccurate and therefore have little credibility IMO.
I didn't say the codecs had gone. I said their development has seemingly ceased. Legacy products can often still be used but support will be sparse and possibly only acted upon through the volume of complaints by those affected should the given function err, especially when it was working before in a previous version.
You are correct, this particular problem doesn't affect me, I have no use for those formats but I wonder why alternative codecs are not acceptable for use. If the reason is trying to not to lose information then there are alternatives. Maybe some of the alternatives will show the screen ratios correctly. Sadly I have no interlaced AVI clips to experiment with.
I do agree that if a website states a file type is supported then the file type should be implemented correctly or it should not be on the list.
I do sympathise. I often curse when opening an old project in a new version of the program or even the version it was created in to find it has corrupted in some way or a function has ceased. It has happened more times than I care to remember.
Why do I open older projects again?
Because I have either found a better way to improve the footage or I made a spelling mistake that I now want to correct.
One function I would love to have in the program would be a spell checker. I lose count of the times I've hit a wrong key or not pressed a key hard enough and not noticed.
Trial Version 2023 Platinum user here. I am super impressed with the output to device quality. It matches the quality of the original device source perfectly. I am super impressed with the mixdown speed. I am also so happy to have a working MP4 editor.
Here are the two samples that I made just testing some features out. Like and subscribe.
Bug: In the Camera/Zoomshot effect, the keyframe control panel (with the create, copy paste buttons) does not activate when the effect is clicked. The panel can only be activated by clicking on Size Posn Rot first, then going to Camera/Zoomshot.
As soon as the object is de-highlighted, the camera/Zoomshot panel is dimmed and will not re-activate when the object is re-highlighted until SPR is clicked first.
