How do I solve the above problem? I've reloaded Movie two times and keep getting the same error. Or is it the third time is the charm?

Hi

Open Cl errors are usually a result of a graphics driver issue - are the drivers up to date?

We need more information about your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required and please quote the processor and graphics card/chipset make/model in full.

Hi bob

At what point does the crash occur - on startup, loading a project, adding an effect etc or when?

If:

  1. on loading a project, does starting a new project cause a crash, and if so was this when adding image/video/audio to the timeline?

    and/or

  2. adding an effect, or title, if so which one?

Can you post a screen shot of program settings, Device options tab.

Hi Bob.

As an experiment please try opening MEP. Do not load anything from the popup menu. Not even the project you have labeled EMPTY.

Go to the program settings and select Microsoft WARP for all of the Device Options settings and then save and close.

Then open MEP again and try opening another project. It may react slow and clunky but does it cause a failure?

CubeAce, I made the change to MS WARP and MEP still failed.

Footnote. This MEP failure began after I reloaded all my software because of a Windows failure. My guess is the computer was not entirely "cleaned" with the reload of Windows.

Hi Bob.

That seems more than a reasonable assumption.

It's always a pain to have to load an operating system from scratch but often the best way when things really go pair shaped with Windows.

Take one more try but make the settings CPU, CPU, CPU. If that fails then I think you are correct. It is however still possible your system is no longer coping. Are you running DDR3 or DDR4 system ram? The Intel site says it can be run with both types. One assumes dependent on the motherboards ram slots.

What resolution of files are you using?

I'm asking purely because I think John EB and myself are making notes on which systems (component wise) seem to be having what problems at what video resolutions. That in turn is because I at least, no longer have confidence with the accuracy of the specifications page for MEP 2022 on the Magix website.

Tried CPU settings; MEP still failed.

RAM speed is 2133 MHz suggesting RAM is DDR4.

Unable to run any files in MEP.

The option selected for re-install of Windows was rebuild while retaining my documents and programs. After Windows re-install was completed, programs had to be re-installed.

There is one Magix program not re-installed--MAGIX Photo Designer 7 (silver). Does this program share any bits with MEP that might prevent MEP from working if undefined? Photo Designer is a trial version thus the lack of interest in re-installing.

Hi Bob

. . . . The option selected for re-install of Windows was rebuild while retaining my documents and programs. After Windows re-install was completed, programs had to be re-installed. . . . .

A bit of a contradiction there, if you had to re-install the programs something must have gone wrong with the rebuild, or the error/fault that occurred in the first place to necessitate the rebuild is still there, ie as you commented the computer was not entirely "cleaned".

You need to do some checking of the Windows system, see this tutorial and carry out steps 3 - 11.

. . . . MAGIX Photo Designer 7 (silver). Does this program share any bits with MEP that might prevent MEP from working if undefined? . . . .

Assuming you are getting the 'undefined error' on trying to start Photo Designer 7, which is unlikely to run on Windows 10, then it may be that a file has been overwritten with an older version that is common to both programs. If Photo Designer is still installed I would suggest your remove it using Revo Free Uninstaller, launch the uninstall from within Revo and when complete let Revo cleanup the files and registry fragments.

John, we may not be on the same page.

Photo Designer 7 was not re-installed after the W10 rebuild. Only MEP was re-installed. Again, Photo Designer is presently not installed, and never has been installed since the W10 rebuild.

Revo cannot find Photo Designer since it was not installed.

I commonly run DISM tool followed by the SCF tool to help minimize the disk active time, which affects computer response time. The tools have been used numerous times since the rebuild and as recent as last night. The MEP failure is unaffected. Windows Updates and Restarts both increase disk active time to 100%. DISM/SCF knock it down below 10%.

Hi

. . . we may not be on the same page. Photo Designer 7 was not re-installed  . . .

We are, sort of, just not on the same paragraph, as Designer 7 was installed prior to the crash, parts may still have been left behind.

. . . . .  run DISM tool followed by the SCF tool to help minimize the disk active time . . .

Running the DISM and SFC checks have nothing to do with disk active time - they are for checking the health of the Windows system for file mismatches and issues, particularly after a Windows update issue and do not need to be run regularly.

Disk optimisation (defragging) is used to minimise the search times of the disk, however you do not need to run this manually, by default in Windows 10 this is done weekly on the drives specified in the Optimise Drives feature of Windows 10 - below is my setup, I cannot remember if I added the 2 data drives and SSD manually.

Thanks John. I'm not by any means a hardware or software expert. A decrease in disk active time is real. I have no technical explanation, just a result that is very repeatable on my computer.

Uninstalled MEP using Revo and re-installed MEP after restart. Unfortunately, it failed.

During installation, MEP installer noted "Magix Video Delux Plus (ProcessID: 6168) needs to be closed. Problem is the program is not installed on my computer. I selected RETRY several times then selected INGNORE.

MEP continued to install until it gave me the following message "Magix Video Delux Plus (ProcessID 6960, 9552, 18868, and 6168). Selected RETRY with no progress, but INGORE allowed installed to continue.

Troubleshooting screen is attached.

The Error Report failed to send to Magix, suggesting connectivity issue. I'm connected.

Looks like MEP is a failure for me unless Magix has another suggestion to try.

@Bob-Shepard

Hi Bob

This is beginning to sound like the Windows installation and/or the registry is messed up, and you have 'ghost' process running that cannot be stopped.

Try opening the Resource Monitor - press the Windows key and type resource the app should appear top of the list. Run the installer and when it pops up the error message, in the Resource Monitor, CPU tab look for the process ID it gives you and try to stop it - right click and select End Process and see if the Download Manager continues.

If that fails, I then, IMHO, the best course of action is to wipe the c: drive and re-install Windows and programs from a clean start - backing up all your documents etc before hand.

Used Revo to uninstall MEP and then reinstalled MEP.

No messages this time about stopping running systems. Totally installed without intervention.

Unfortunately, the error in module "opencl.dll" continues to prevent MEP from running. MEP closes no matter the button selection.

Still can't send crash report.
