Audio Issue-MTS Files

Well, the issue was I was attempting to download the patch whilst MEP was open. Once I closed MEP and downloaded the patch success. Thanks for the help!

The fix that includes "Standard DVD PAL AC3" corrected the no sound while previewing "mts" format files, but it failed to correct the lack of sound visualization (waveform graph). Here's a screen capture of what I mean. The "mp4" format file (top)displays the waveform and the "mts" one (bottom) is blank. I looked for the "Create wave form" option from "Audio function" menu and this option was not listed, nor did the "Shift + E" create a wave form for the "mts" file.

Anybody know if this has been reported and/or is a fix coming?

Export WAV and drag it back in till its fixed.

@jameskidwellguitarist

If you are having the issue ie

. . . . no “create waveform” option at top of drop down menu . . . .

This generally means the waveform has been created, however I have found that if the audio is relatively low volume then you may not see the waveform depending on the track height or zoom level of the timeline.

Does the waveform appear if you zoom both horizontally and vertically the timeline keeping the audio object visible?

The patch worked great for getting audio back (thanks!!!), but like a previous poster, I have no option to create a waveform either. I did try John EB's suggestion of zooming in both horizontally and vertically to see if it's just tiny, but no luck. I then exported the audio as an MP3 and brought it back in... no problem with generating a waveform on that imported audio track. Appears clear as day while still nothing on the original audio track, so not a zoom issue in this case.

At least exporting/importing offers a workaround, but is a timesink with the size of the videos I'm working with. Here's hoping for a "perfect" fix. ;-)

It's not working for me. my computer won't let me run it

papadewey wrote on 6/25/2018, 1:41 PM

I agree, I now can hear the audio but the show wave form is not working. I display the video on 2 tracks( video and audio) but I don't have the option to display wave form, and none is visible even when zoomed . The patch fixed part of the problem, the lack of display of wave form remains broken.

Papadewey is running Movie Edit Pro Premium 2018 Version 17.0.3.183, which is the newest update posted on the Magix site. Its running on windows 10. Hope you have some tricks up your sleeve, John, because this is really disaappointing for having the Premium version.

johnebaker wrote on 6/25/2018, 3:53 PM

@papadewey

Thanks for the info, that is the same version as mine which works correctly.

What format video file(s) are are showing this issue, a MediaInfo analysis may also help to see if there is any difference?

If you have a short clip that exhibits this problem in MEP that is not confidential can you upload it to somewhere like Dropbox, do not post in the forum,on Youtube, Vimeo etc as they will convert the file - we need the original to test with.

Thanks

John I sent you a PM with the link to dropbox of the video that I can't view the waveform.

johnebaker wrote on 6/26/2018, 3:34 AM

@papadewey

Thanks for the clip.

As you can see from the images below I have no issue with the waveform display, with or without using proxy files.

Import no proxy file

Import using proxy file

There is nothing odd about the audio either - in fact the video is exactly the same format as my Sony XR520EV.

Have you tried resetting the program back to defaults - File, Settings, Reset . . . ?

In the Program setting, Video/audio tab, is the option to Automatically create waveform on import checked or unchecked?

Try closing the program then go to the folder where the clip is stored and see if there is an .HO file with the corresponding clip number. If there is one delete it and reopen the project and see if the create waveform option has appeared.

May we hope for an update from Magix?

The official program update to deal with this issue in the current Movie Edit Pro generation (i.e. 2018) is coming out any day now, probably no later than tomorrow. We will then consider potential follow-up patches for slightly older product versions. If you're using any such older version, also feel free to get in touch with support to work out a solution for you.

Regarding the missing waveform display: Scenestealer nailed the solution in his post above. Deleting the *.H0 files shold do the trick.

papadewey wrote on 6/26/2018, 9:12 AM

Here is Magix support solution to the problem. Thank you John, Scenestealer and Ralftaro for all your help and support trying to get things to work properly. I will follow Ralftaro advice on the *.HO file and hopefully my problems with be a thing of the past.. papadewey

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your message.

This issue is related to a Windows update, which has caused our software problems with the decoding of Dolby Digital (AC3) audio. Please use the following procedure in the program to force the activation of the necessary Dolby Digital codec:

1. Start the program and create an empty project. Import any video or photo file.
2. Click on the "File" menu => "Export movie" sub menu => "Video as MPEG video" option. (NOT MPEG4!)
3. Select the preset "Standard DVD PAL AC3" from the list, and start the export process.
4. When you're prompted to download the Dolby Digital audio extension pack, please do so.

Once you have unlocked the Dolby Digital support via this procedure, you should now also be able to import video material (e.g. AVCHD) using Dolby Digital audio without any problems.

I hope this helps.

worthlessvideos wrote on 6/26/2018, 10:12 AM

I can confirm Scenestealer suggestion to delete the file extension ".HO" for files you do not have the "Create wave form display" for. I had the video clip "20180606163127.mts" in a project with no waveform, nor the option to "Create wave form display". I closed the project and deleted the file "20180606163127.mts.HO" from the source folder, opened the project again, and now the "Create wave form display" option is active. Clicking on it created the wave form display under the thumbnails. Note this was done after activating the Dolby Audio codec.

papadewey wrote on 6/26/2018, 11:31 AM

I also can confirm that deleting the .HO file solves the waveform issue. We have some really great people on this forum helping us to solve these technical issues. I cannot say thank you enough.

Once the update is issued hopefully these work arounds will not be needed.

I found the solution myself. For those interested in film how to do it. It is a waste of time to answer from Magix.

This worked for me!

This fix worked for me. When I went to burn even the smallest of video it prompted me to install an add on package. No problem since!

I worked on a small video I was doing for youtube last night using VPX with MTS files,everything was excellent.This morning the 1803 Update went through,now no audio.

emmrecs wrote on 1/17/2019, 3:28 PM

Dan, if you mean the 1803 update, for me it certainly didn't produce the problem of loss of audio in .mts files.

However, the 1809 update has been known to cause all sorts of problems for some users, not just for video/audio but general data files as well! (One of the main reasons I'm holding off installing it for as long as possible.)
