Analog Synths files cannot be found

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/12/2021, 4:45 PM

I have asked about this before. All previous answers and the original issue can be found here: https://www.magix.info/us/forum/analog-synths-not-working--1222240/

I have had extensive issues with getting the Vita virtual instrument "Analog Synths" to work in MAGIX Music Maker. As shown above, this is an issue I have been dealing with for a while. All previous answers anyone gave were unhelpful, and even after a MAGIX employee gave some suggestions, I was left nowhere near a solution. I even submitted a support ticket on the company's website, which was answered by the same employee who spoke to me in the original thread and resulted in more head scratching because it too was unhelpful.

What is happening?

I am unable to use Analog Synths in projects inside the MAGIX Music Maker program. I cannot see or select the VST from the "Instruments" tab, however, I can select it by clicking the "+" button on an empty track.

For some reason, it doesn't have an icon like the other MAGIX instruments, and when I try to choose a preset, this happens.

I have no idea where this would even be on my computer. After closing these boxes, this is what I get.

The track this appears for produces no sound whatsoever when I try to use it for MIDI. I have not had this issue with any other instruments purchased from the Music Maker Store. And yes, I did purchase it and it is authorized, because there is no lock on it when viewed in the store (again, this doesn't show up under the Instruments tab).

I am constantly having to redownload it and install it, just to have it repeat this same process.

I am at my wits end with this thing, and wish I could make use of this instrument because looking at the presets, it seems like a really useful VST, but I absolutely cannot get it to work!

@ParadoxMM

Hi

I can see from the images, you are running Music Maker 2021 (v29.0.x.xx).

Did you pay for the upgrade to this version of MMM 2021 and activate it with the new serial number you would have received, or is it running with the old version serial number?

I paid to upgrade to Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition. I purchased Analog Synths with one of the instrument coupons provided from purchasing Music Maker 2018 Premium Edition.

@ParadoxMM Have you ever completely uninstalled Analog Synth via the Magix Content and Soundpools uninstallation?

What is happening?

The copy protection is failing and this means the instrument doesn't want to load. This could be caused by a broken or uncompleted installation.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/12/2021, 5:54 PM

I haven't tried that. I was unaware that was even there, and you're definitely the first to suggest it. I'll uninstall it and post again later once I have it reinstalled.

@ParadoxMM

Hi,

I have a few instruments that do something like that. Try clicking on the + then on the icon to the left of where it says Analog Synths. It might open the synth and then you can use the menu in the synth to change the patch.

I already addressed that it doesn't work doing that.

The problem isn't that I can't change the preset, the problem is I can choose any preset and the instrument just doesn't work.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/12/2021, 9:56 PM

@SP. So I tried your suggestion and uninstalled it. I reinstalled it and found no change. I hoped this would be the solution, but seems there is something else going wrong.

SP. wrote on 4/13/2021, 2:54 AM

@ParadoxMM What is the file version if you look in the file properties of the installer?

Is it version 2.4.0.78 or is it version 2.4.0.95?

Maybe your version of the installer is too old?

@ParadoxMM

Hi

. . . . I paid to upgrade to Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition.  . . . .

That only answers half my question - did you get and activate with the new serial number or is it running using the old serial number?

. . . . Maybe your version of the installer is too old . . . .

@SP. may be on to something here:-

If you activated with the new serial number, did you download and install all the Extra Content again - if not this you must do to update the instruments and features to the latest version.

Yes, I am using the 2021 serial number. As far as the installer, I don't see how the installer would affect it, but I guess I'll give it a shot.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/13/2021, 10:58 AM

@johnebaker Tried using the 2021 version of the installer with the 2021 serial number, redownloaded Analog Synths, and no change.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/13/2021, 11:02 AM

@ParadoxMM What is the file version if you look in the file properties of the installer?

I misunderstood, I guess. I thought you meant the installer for Music Maker. I don't have an installer for the Analog Synths.

This is what I could find.

@ParadoxMM Thanks for the information. I have sent you a private message.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/13/2021, 8:31 PM

I replied to your message and tried what you suggested. The issue still persists.

SP. wrote on 4/14/2021, 4:37 AM

@ParadoxMM That's a bummer that it didn't help. Maybe it is a problem with the store cache? You could try the following. Uninstall Analog Synths, then open Music Maker and go into the program settings and click on the button to clean up the store. This will delete the old cache and rebuilt it from scratch. Then go into the store and download and install Analog Synths.

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/14/2021, 10:32 AM

@SP. Tried it this morning. Tried installing it from the store and from the install file after clearing the store cache, and there is no change.

I have noticed that even after uninstalling Analog Synths, it still shows up in my instrument list. Is it supposed to do that?

SP. wrote on 4/14/2021, 10:50 AM

@ParadoxMM

No, as far as I know, it should not be visible after uninstalling. Maybe there is some registry garbage left on your system. That could also explain why it doesn't work. So, maybe your system registry needs to be cleaned from old entries of Analog Synths.

On my system there are entries in

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\Folders

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\MAGIX\Vita_Analog_Synths

Maybe you have incorrect folder path listed there?

ParadoxMM wrote on 4/14/2021, 10:57 AM

How should I go about doing that?

Oh, I just realized I hadn't finished reading. My bad.

SP. wrote on 4/14/2021, 11:10 AM

@ParadoxMM Some people here recommend Revo Uninstaller for a complete uninstallation and cleaning the registry of leftover entries. But I never used it. But it could be worth a try.

PATIENT-X wrote on 4/14/2021, 11:39 AM

@ParadoxMM

Hello, Welcome

As @SP. Mentioned.

I have used Revo, but when it comes to registry entries make sure you double check the registry entries which are being removed in case you have other Magix products.

So yes in general I have recommended Revo in the forum and users have had their problems resolved.

@PATIENT-X Yes, but what am I supposed to be uninstalling? In my list of programs, there isn't just "Vita Analog Synths" listed. The closest thing I have is MAGIX Content and Soundpools. Is that what I'm supposed to uninstall, then?

PATIENT-X wrote on 4/15/2021, 10:39 AM

@ParadoxMM

Uninstall Analog synth as per @SP. advice including the registry entries using Revo.
