Hi,

New Zoom Feature - Scroll down to item 2 in this advert. It looks like it is zooming the Preview window which is something that we have always had.

"Zoom in with the mouse and use the tracker to work more precisely in the preview monitor and view details better."

I don't see anything about this in the manual and it's possible that it doesn't work - does it?.

What is meant by "tracker."

moving the program window to another monitor can be a chore / spooky behavior. Export codec loads cpu & gpu vastly differently depending on codec chosen, AV1 vs MPEG4 vs HEVC. Still too much border/ wasted space around windows, which cuts into the timeline. Text is an improvement. no crashes, seems very stable. does act laggy and or glitchy at times when scrubbing timeline, I have a powerful system. 13900k intel cpu Asus pro art z790, samsung 980 drives, windows 11 w 64gb. edit: So editing 2.7 k or even 4k should not be a problem (but it is) . Despite any issues what matters is the final product. How does the export footage look ? Working with it in timeline proxy or not is one thing (poor image can be tolerated to some degree) but please show me something that looks good. I have played with all the settings on export and was just unimpressed. My old 1080 footage looks the same as the 4k stuff. The software cannot even handle 5k in the editor without proxy, reducing all the playback settings. + On a hunch I went to another program/editor just to see what things look like on this new hardware. Sadly I have to tell you guys. The only reason I will open X15 is to finish up some long time projects I have been working on. I suggest you guys take a look at your competition because things are just night & day. I really did not want to learn a new editor but the results have me no choice. Stability for x15 is great and a few times it recovered itself after locking up. In closing even my cpu runs 30 to 40 degrees cooler on the other software. 90f export, compared to 58f export. same footage, same export settings etc. Thanks guys its been fun but it's time for me to move on.

It keeps crashing. I drag a video file to the timeline and within two seconds of playing it, the video monitor in the program goes black. Then the program crashes. I've sent the crashlog

SP. wrote on 6/28/2023, 6:42 PM

@Felix-Wright I don't think that sending a crash report will do anything.

Better open a technical support ticket. Click on the SUPPORT link at top of this page and then select your product. On the next page scroll down until you can click on Contact Support and create your ticket.

You can send technical support also your video file that crashes the program.

@Felix-Wright

Hello Felix,

If you send an error message via a Magix program, you will never get a personal reply / feedback from it. However, such error messages are stored in a database, which Magix programmers can later analyse and improve their programmes.

What you could try is to reset Pro X15 to its default values. To do this, go to: File / Settings / Reset programme settings to default values. If this action does not solve your problem, send an e-mail to: infoservice@magix.net and explain your problem there.

Good luck,
Rob

Felix-Wright wrote on 7/1/2023, 8:39 AM

@Bol @SP. Thanks, guys. I uninstalled the program, reinstalled it, and now I no longer have issues with the program. Thanks again.

Bug? It appears the Social Media Vertical 9:16 Instagram Stories format does not work.

I started a new project with the Instagram movie profile and the export settings follow the vertical Instagram story ratio of 9:16 as set by the movie profile.

The video that is being processed has been shot in portrait mode. Windows Explorer states that width is 1080, height is 1920p.

Exported video's don't follow the 9:16 ratio but instead it is 1:1.

Confirmed for VPX 15 both h.264 and h.265 encoding formats. AVI exports and plays correctly.

MediaInfo also indicates AR and resolution is correct, players - Films & TV, Media player, VLC and Windows Media Player (Legacy) - are all interpreting the AR/resolution incorrectly

Colleague @marcusdeman is right. After exporting to HEVC and uploading to YouTube, TikTok or Facebook, the video is distorted. Wrong aspect ratio. PotPlayer on PC plays correctly. Interesting.
I'm going back to the X13 version for now, export to HEVC works fine.

@Weilburg-TV

The only requirement is that you have 64bit Windows 10 or 11.

The rest are minimum recommendations. Given you were OK on VPX 14, I'll bet it's a bug.

I still run Movie Studio (similar recommendations as VPX) on an i5-750 (yes, THE original from 2011?) with no graphics card at all to speak of.

If it is intentional, then Magix needs a rocket for not stating the minimum component requirements.

I'd at least lodge a Support request. In the meantime, if nothing's changed, you can get your money back within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Hello @Weilburg-TV,

My answer was meant to get you started as soon as possible, so you can finish ongoing projects. Later, you can always decide whether you want to keep Pro X15 or not. Whether it makes sense to apply for support seems unnecessary, as your PC is more than five years old. A computer does last more than 10 years, but the economic lifespan of a PC is between three and five years.  As far as I can find out, you cannot upgrade your PC to Windows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11 version 22H2. However, I did find out that your GeForce GTX 760 graphics card is still supported by Nvidia. Microsoft does not automatically update these graphics cards. Check if you have the latest drivers installed for this? See: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

You could check if your Intel drivers are still up to date. See: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support.html

Good luck,
Rob

Sorry to keep on about this, but I can't agree. A computer will last as long as it serves it's purpose. Just because a computer is 5yo does not invalidate contacting Support (I'm sure they won't come back and say "you need a new computer, otherwise we're not going to help you").

Wellburg's VPX 14 ran fine, by the sounds of it. I see no reason in the "recommendations" why 15 wouldn't also, especially given the very first statement on the Magix site:

All MAGIX programs are developed with user-friendliness in mind so that all the basic features run smoothly and can be fully controlled, even on low-performance computers.

Many thanks for your nice comment. I've been a Magix Video user for 2 decades - so far backwards compatibility has always been guaranteed... I won't be buying a new PC. I simply switched off the old Nvidia graphics card in the settings - now everything works again. Thanks very much!

I don't see that VPX15 contains Newblue TotalFX Magix Edition. This seems like a significant downgrade compared with VPX14.
