Hi Fellow Music Lovers:

"The Sidewinder" is a song composed by the extremely talented and prolific American Jazz trumpeter, Lee Morgan back in 1964.

Morgan recorded the original track with tenor saxophonist, Joe Henderson, pianist, Barry Harris, double bassist, Bob Cranshaw and drummer, Billy Higgins.  It was released as part of Lee Morgan's album, "The Sidewinder", as well as on both sides of a single.  The single entered Billboard's Hot 100 chart at No. 93 on December 19, 1964 and eventually rose to number 25.

Lee Morgan, the fiery-hot, extremely talented jazz trumpet player, died much too soon. His skyrocketing career was sadly cut short, at the very young age of 33.

I've played this song many times in the past, but it has been a long while...  In any event, here is my rendition of this catchy, fast-paced tune.

Hope you like it.

Griff

Griff

Hey Griff

Now first off, you were much too kind in your evaluation of my Dusty rendition of  "Dust..."

But let's get to your song.  I absoslutely loved it and couldn't help but play along (E flat right?) unless my keyboard needs tuning ( haha bad joke).  Very catchy tune it was and I wished it was longer just because I enjoyed it so much.  People who say they do not care for jazz .....well, I would bet they would like this rendition you put on here and if not, there is definitely something wrong in the auricular department!

I read with great attention your presentation that gave me new knowledge about the history of music.
I do not know the original song, but I must say that your arrangement clearly feels that is more modern, flowing fast and nice, and for a piece of pure jazz is very diffcult. your talent is clearly high in music
