Xara Web Designer Questions

John222 wrote on 6/22/2016, 9:41 PM

I just got an offer from Magix for a discounted prce on Web Designer Premium, and I have a few questions.... I t reads that  it includes a year of web hosting..  Here are my questions;

1. Does it have built in SEO - Search Engine Optimization?

2. Does it include SSL certificate

3. Does it allow you to add Alt text to images?

Hi

1. Does it have built in SEO - Search Engine Optimization?

This is something you must do in designing and creating the website by including appropriate keywords/tags and structure of the site Web Designer does support the use of keyword/tags.

I would suggest you read up on search engine optimisation. Note most search engines are aware of the practice of 'stuffing' websites with keywords and tags.

2. Does it include SSL certificate

This is a function provided by the ISP host - in the case of the Xara free web hosting there is no mention that this is available. I would suggest you contact Xara directly.

3. Does it allow you to add Alt text to images?

This is part of the HTML standards and Xara Web Designer follows the standards in this respect- it is something you add when putting images into a web page during creation in WD.

See here for a comparison of the features provided by the different versions of WD.

Xara Web Designer does have options to allow you to change content and affect title tags and canonical links etc, have done a number of websites using Xana and have achieved some decent results on google and other search engines

Just bought Xara Web Designer Premium. How do I publish to my website that I use with Xara Web Designer 9?

wesviking wrote on 12/26/2017, 6:23 PM

Getting errors when trying to Publish with both Web Designer 9 & Xara Web Designer Premium> spurious internal error. I can't publish anymore. What to do?

@wesviking

You have asked a question about web site publishing problems using Xara Web designer. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with the original question in this thread, which is about features and facilities offered by the program.

I would strongly urge you to start a new thread with your question and a lot more detail  about your computer, version of Windows, version of Xara etc., etc. and what, exactly, you have tried, what specific problems you are seeing, including any error messages you receive.

Without that level of detail it is highly unlikely anyone can offer you any sort of advice.

@arthur-welsh

Hi

. . . . error message "unable to find the filter to import that file" . . . .

Did you resolve this issue back in June 2018 ?

Also try running Web Designer as Administrator to see if this helps.

Running as Admin still gets the same message. And no, I have never been able to get this damned thing to work! I have sent countless messages to Magix and received ZERO response. It just looks like I wasted $70+ dollars for a piece of crap! As you can tell, I am not happy with this program. Does anyone know how to really contact Magix? I'd love to see if they have an answer, or at least I could tell them my thoughts on their program and absolute lack of customer service!

@arthur-welsh

Hi

Try these possible solutions here - without an error log it is difficult to determine what is going wrong.

I don't get an error message with a specific file that is missing and I don't see anyway to find an error log, so how do I know which DLL to try to fix? Also, do you think a program deletetion and a re-innstall might help. And, somone told me I should choose what browser I want to use to preview, but I can't find any way to do that either. Thoughts please.

OK, it's been three weeks since I asked the above questions! Will someone at MAGIX wake up and please respond. Thanks.

These are user to user forums, not a contact for Magix support.

Please use the Contact button in the footer of every forum page to raise a Support Ticket since I suspect no fellow-user can actually help you.
