Would recording electric guitar using a usb microphone work?

I have a midi keyboard and have so far been using that to record music. But I have an electric guitar and am getting a usb microphone soon. I want to continue using my midi keyboard to record but also add my electric guitar in. How would that work with my microphone? Or should I just wait until I get a usb guitar cable to connect it? I'm wondering if the microphone over my tracks in the song will interfere using a microphone too...

Here's a link to what I've done so far using magix music maker 2014 if anyone's interested. :)

Hi

. . . . Would recording electric guitar using a usb microphone work? . . . .

It will if you play the guitar through the amplifier however the quality may be dubious..

Assuming you mean both at the same time then you cannot do this directly - Music Maker can only record one track at a time:-

If the keyboard is controlling one of the instruments then you have to record in two sessions.  You will also need to install Asio4All drivers to reduce latency when recording if you have not already done so.

If the keyboard is outputting an audio signal and you are recording this then if you have a USB audio mixer it is possible to mix the analogue audio and the guitar and record live from the mixer with Music Maker - note without a little trickery you will not be able to adjust the individual sound level or add effects to the recording in MMM.

The trick is to make the mixer record guitar on one channel and the keyboard on the other channel of the stereo audio - this may require modification of oee or both audio cable to the mixer - you can then seperate these within the program and then treat them individually and use the track balance control to adjust the positioning on the sound stage.
