Working with Collages

Can-Dive wrote on 2/27/2025, 6:03 PM

I've been using the Slideshow Wizard to quickly generate a photo slideshow which I then refine with additional editing. The Wizard will apply different transitions and collages etc.

  1. Is there a way to quickly identify what collage has been applied to the photo(s) without searching through the Template menu?
  2. When a collage is applied, it's easy to replace it with another collage or use the undo key (Ctrl Z) to reverse your action. But once a project is established (as in using the Slideshow Wizard), is there anyway of undoing a specific collage without deleting the group and re-importing the photos again to the timeline?

Hi

. . . . Is there a way to quickly identify what collage has been applied . . .

None that I knw of - when using the Magix collages I keep notes of which one I have used, you could also rename the spacer image each time you add/change the collage:

. . . . is it easy to replace it with another collage . . . .

Yes, select the 'Collage' spacer on track 1 and drag the new collage onto to it, you will get this message:

Hi @johnebaker

Thanks for the answer to my first question. I probably didn't word my second question properly.

I know it's easy to replace a collage with another collage or to "delete" a collage using the "undo" (Ctrl Z) function.

But, for example, you applied a collage and saved the project and close the program. You start the program and reopen the project. Is there a way to delete the collage (undo) similar to undoing/deleting an effect on an object(s) without deleting the object(s) as well?

This can be done - select the Collage spacer, usually on track 1, then press Ctrl + Alt + - (minus key next to =) or right click Video effects, Reset video effects, do note this will also delete all effects applied to the images in the collage.

The edit history, like most Windows programs, is lost on closing the program, and unless you have changed it in the program settings, is, IIRC, 10 steps - I always set mine to 20 steps.
