Winterwonderland Template, audio voiceover gets cut

perriced wrote on 9/10/2012, 5:47 PM

HI, using Winterwonderland Template in MEP Pro latest version.  When I add audio voiceover, it is cut off between 47 and 48 seconds.  Is this a quirk of the template, perhaps, or more likely, am I doing something wrong?  I'd like to be able to add voiceover for the entire duration of the template, which is a bit over 1 minute.  Thanks in advance.

Dave

Hi,

I am not sure how you are recording the narration track but I just tried it on the template and was able to record narration well over 1 minute without a problem.  Open your project, click the Record button in the preview monitor, then click audio.  When the recording window opens have a look at the picture below and see what the number is.

George, I'll do that later today.  For now, I should add that the "record" works without problem for me as well BEFORE I add my own images/clips to the template.  It is only after that I'm having this difficulty.  Surely something to do with what I've added: several still jpegs and a few short avi files.  Hmmmmm, thanks Dave.

Again, I'll check that number later.

Hi Dave,

I couldn't reproduce that here. As shown below, I made several edits between about 44 and 50 seconds on the MEP MX timeline. Then I made a recording around that section. All played back OK. I repeated with a recording from t = 0 to past 60 s, again with no gaps/stops on playback.

Is your issue reproducible? With different edits and different recording start/stop points? Are your settings in the Audio Recording dialog like mine? Is this a gap of one second, or do you mean the narrative stops permanently at around the 48 s point?

If the quirk persists (in a new project but with similar changes) I'd suggest you provide much more detail, including a screenshot.

Terry,a quick look at your jpg,(thank you for your detail) and things appear pretty much as I have them, but  I'll investigate more  later as not in front of computer now (re: reproducible et al), but as I've said, it does not occur if just adding voiceover to the unedited template.  That is, the template itself seems OK.

Anyway, for now, the recording stops altogether permanently at the 47 sec mark.  Curious?  thanks for your help, Dave

Hi,

I did the same thing as Terry, I filled in the template with material that I have so that the entire template was full, recorded a narration track from t=0 to t=the end of the template which in my case was about 1 minute 10 seconds then kept the narraton going for another 10 seconds.  The audio recorded perfectly for my narration.  By the way, I was using the MEP audio recorder, not an external recorder to do this, and I was using the internal microphone from my PC Track 5 is the narration/voiceover track.

To all concerned, oops, my fundamental, embarrassing misunderstanding.  I had inadvertently (???) set the area markers to 47 sec.   (I can hear the collective chuckle!)   Still,  I thank you for your help.  Knowing it was working for everyone else, I dug more deeply and voila.  So, your efforts were not in vain.  Thanks again, functioning OK,   Hopefully, my experience will help another.

Hi Dave

Collective chuckle - maybe a small one .

However it is even better that you find the solution and have come back with the answer which, as you say, will help others who may come across the same problem.

I think, on this occasion, I can speak for George and Terry as well,  and say a big thank you for coming back with the solution.

Best wishes

John

Hi Dave,

I clicked the thank you button on your last post because as one who along with John and Terry answers many questions, it is always nice to see the resolution to the problem.  Don't worry about the "collective chuckle".  We all have that happen at some time.  Good for you that you figured out the answer, and even better that you made sure you told the people who were trying to help you out.

Thank you,

George
