windows 10 and Pro 10x comparability

Howard-Sandy wrote on 11/27/2020, 12:39 PM

I have a Pro 10 x purchase in 2017 but never downloaded at the time. That issue system requirement was in 2017 up to Windows 8.1. My HP Vista will be traded for a new HP Windows 10 Graphic 64 bit computer . Are there still additional downloads I need to purchase or get free to make this software fully perform in Windows 10 ?

Many thanks for the help.

@Howard-Sandy

Hi

Xara Designer Pro X10 was released in 2014 and while it may run on Windows 10 it almost certainly will not be fully functional, ie no access to the online content catalogue - this is due to a change in 2016 to an Update Service (subscription style) model.

I would suggest you purchase the latest version to ensure full compatibility and download the entire online catalogue.

If you renew the Update Service every year you get upgrades to the program and continued access to the Online catatlaogue including new additions. Stop the subscription - the program continues working, however you will not get any program updates to the latest version or access to the online catalogue, only what you have downloaded from the catalogue will be available to you.

Thanks John for the reply . May I ask your recommend on an HP computer that would be best suited for graphics for this new software. Also what is this new Designer Pro known as? I am in Toronto Canada so I assume it would be purchased through Magix USA.

The older Pro X10 has no value I assume unless it’s used on a Windows 7 .

Hi

. . . . May I ask your recommend on an HP computer that would be best suited for graphics for this new software . . . .

As far as HP go I am not a big fan of theirs at all.

I am also looking for a new laptop and the brands I am considering are Microsoft, Lenovo, MSI and Gigabyte, my needs are very different to yours as I need something with a lot of horsepower under the hood.

The current Xara Designer Pro X is here and the system requirements are here

Designer Pro X is not demanding software, however I I would look at a laptop with an Intel Generation 9 or 10 processor, 8 GB or more of RAM and one with 2 drives one SSD 512GB minimum for OS and programs and a hard drive of 1 TB or bigger - this will build in some future proofing.

Thanks again John. I will probably look for a computer rather than a lap top as I need a high rez monitor .
