DAVID-FEARY wrote on 7/9/2018, 4:15 PM

Windows 10, 64 Bit, 12gb Ram

New version of edit Pro Premium 2018 purchased from Magix, installed on 08/07/18, version number 17.0.3.184,

When importing HDV from video camera req Mpeg 2 codec, when using mpeg 2 video used from other computer using Edit pro 17 plus which works OK on that and Nero and will play on media player etc still cannot drop mpeg file into time line. Screen appears saying download free mpeg 2 codec (main concept), click on download to say yes but no action.

The file will play on windows 10 system media player etc , just not in Edit Pro

No problem importing or dropping AVCHD into time line, works OK, Its just mpeg 2 codec

Turn off, reboot system try again, no luck

Hi David

Maybe your Antivirus or firewall is blocking the download.....?

@DAVID-FEARY

Try starting Video Edit Pro Premium as an administrator (right-click an choose "Run as Administrator" from the context menu) when you will install the codec from within the program.

It should only be nesseccary for the installation, not for normal use.

Just to add..

I see from other posts on the forum that there was apparently a problem yesterday, July 9, with the Magix server. Perhaps that is why you could not download the Mpeg2 codec pack?

I gather the server problem is now resolved so it might well be worth trying again to download it.

Thank you to all who helped me.

Thank you emmrecs, this could account for my comments below

For some reason late last night after many hours and totally unexplained it decided to download the free mpeg codec.

Running as administrator and turning off the firewall made no difference.

I am also now able to import from the HDV vid camera and render with no problem.

If I find out what the solution was I will post back for future reference to help others in the same position. but I think emmrecs, has found the problem.

Many thanks David
