Why will Movie Edit Pro and Movie Edit Pro MX not load onto my laptop?

Magix Movie Edit Pro worked on my computer, and suddenly stopped.  It won't load past initializing program layout.  I have been uninstalling and re-installing with no success.  I was in a hurry to do some basic editing, and so bought Magix Movie Edit Pro MX, and had no success with that program either, past the same point of "initializing program layout."  In addition, the appearance of the program screen has graphics and text lighter than it had been with a slight dot, halftone cast to it.

My laptop is an HP Pavilion with 8 g memory, less than a year old,  and I'm using Movie Edit Pro Premium 13.  As I said, I've used the program before and it worked fine.  The other program, purchased a few weeks ago, never worked.

Magix Movie Pro Premium had been loaded onto the desktop, which I seldom use.  On that machine, it continues to function but too slowly, as the machine is older, with much less speed and memory.

Hi,

After you downloaded the application, did you do a full reboot of your system?  Also have you tried cleaning your registry lately?  Worth a try especially if you have just been reinstalling over top of an existing installation if you did not uninstall it first.

Whenever you are going to reinstall any software, you really need to uses something like Revo Uninstaller to remove all registry entries from the previous installation before you reinstall the application, that way your system registry is clean from the previous version as if you choose the right option within Revo, it will remove all regisrty entries from the previous installation.

Hi

Magix have a specific cleanup tool for removing remnants of a Magix install - it is available here.

You must un-install the software, run the cleanup tool and then reboot your computer, before attempting to re-install.

I presume you means Movie Edit Pro 2013 and not Movie Edit Pro13 which is an old version of the program

As the software was working and suddenly stopped suggests the ini file for the program is corrupt - using Windows explorer search for (including hidden files and folders)  the file  videodeluxe.ini - you will find several versions on your computer - you need to delete or rename the one which is the largest in size.

@John,

The Revo app does a much better job of removing the traces and registry entries than the Magix tool does.  It is way more sophisticated, and works with virtually all applications.

Just so you know.
