Why is there no visual?

I am really angry with this "Movie edit pro 2013" software. I hate buying programs that don't work. Some one help me fix it before I go throw it out a window. When I click play in the preview screen it's all black there is no visual. There is audio. So it is playing. But there is no visual. I had been working on the same project for about an hour and then it just up and breaks. Extremly frustrated someone help.

A couple of questions:

You write you've "...been working ... for about an hour and then it just up and breaks." Are you saying you get a proper preview image until then?

What is the format of your source material? does it play properly in any other editor or media player?

Is there any chance that you have inadvertently hit the mute button (big [M] icon at the left end of the track)?

Will anything else show up on this track eg another type of video of even a still image jpeg?

One suggestion is to check the settings on the 'Display options' tab of the program setting window -- [Y] key shortcut. There should be several options for video mode for the preview window. I've never heard on one that kills the video completely but some do prevent say picking a color from the window.

I would also be very angry if I'd purchased MEP 2013 and it didn't work -- did you have any problem with the free demo version?
