Why is Magix Studio picking up the most minute sounds from my laptop and desk?

I am trying to record a simple vocal.  But Magix is picking up every tiny sound from my laptop and even any touching of my desk that it is on.  Why?  And how do I eliminate it so that it ony picks up what I speak into the mic?  BY THE WAY - THIS IS CONCERNING MAGIX MUSIC STUDIO, WHICH FOR SOME REASON IS NOT LISTED BELOW WHEN THEY ASK "WHICH MAGIX PRODUCT ARE YOU ASKING ABOUT."

You need to go into the Windows settings and disable the built-in microphone on your laptop.

Hi

In addition to Procyons answer - a lot depends on the type of microphone and stand/support you are using.

An external microphone often need some isolation between it , the stand/mount it is fixed to and whatever the stand/mount is on.

Search the Internet for microphone vibration isolation and you will find many examples of how mechanical isolation can be done, and search for microphone isolation for ways of isolating it audio wise.

An alternative to audio isolation is to use a very directional mic eg a super cardioid  - your sounds like it is an omni-directional.

Also placement if the microphone can have a big influence - if it too far away then the gain the gain must be cranked up high resulting in it picking up everything.
