Why does screeching sound occur from the laptop speak when I open a new project for Magix Music Maker?

I have Magix Music Maker Studio 2016 on my windows 8 on a Dell 2000/Vision AMD.  I have just installed it.  As soon as I open a new project a screeching sound occurs from the laptops speakers and does not stop until I close the project. Interestingly the Demo sounds great on the laptop so this tells me I am set up correctly.  Can you tell me how to prevent this awful sound?

Hi

Is the laptop internal microphone turned on?

Also check the sound card settings that you do not have the hear what you record option (or similar) turned on - if the option exists.

Hi John,  Thanks a ton for your answer. Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.  I was able to shut the noise off by swtiching the Sound Card and Driver setting from "WASAPI: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)" to "ASIO Magix Low Latency 2016".  I'm not sure why that would do it it doesn't seem to make sense.  So I will also check the sound card settings for the "hear what you record" turned on and the internal microphone turned on (which I believe is still on).  Thanks again!
