Why does Magix Pro 2013 cut off the last 10 seconds of my imported .MOV file?

Every imported .MOV file ends up missing the last several seconds.  Actually, I think the longer the file, the longer the missing portion at the end (not a fixed length, apparently).  The end is missing even in the preview, before I actually import...

Attempted with multiple files from multiple sessions.  Using Movie Edit Pro 2013, version 12.0.1.4.

Hi

MOV files are not a file format in themselves - they are a container file which can contain several different video and audio formats.

We need to know what the actual video format inside the MOV is.  You can use GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse a mov file to see what is inside it - if you use GSpot it will also tell you if the codecs are installed on your computer.

If you are unsure how to interpret the analysis  post a screen shot of the GSpot page or the results from MediaInfo.

Also do you have Quicktime installed?

I have run GSpot and here is a screen shot of the result on this file.

 

I do not know what to do with this info... please help!

Hi

The MOV files are standard H.264 HD video inside the MOV container.

The flag indicating your country is US are you in the US / Canada?

If this is correct -

     Is the project you are importing the clips into set to NTSC 29.97 or 30fps?

     The GSpot analysis shows that the video frame rate is 25fps.

I suspect if all the above are right then there is an error creeping in during the fps conversion which would tie in with your comment the longer the video clip the more you lose - IIRC this was a previous problem with an earlier version of MEP which was fixed.

I'm in the U.S. The project is set to NTSC 29.97 fps.  I tried a couple of the other settings, but I didn't keep track of which ones.  I don't think any of them produced a fix.  I did notice that the original file's frame rate was 25fps.

"IIRC this was a previous problem with an earlier version of MEP which was fixed." - By this, do you mean that a newer version now exists (newer than V 12.0.1.4)?  Can I access the updated version of the program in which this will function properly, as part of my trial?

I'm seriously considering purchasing the software - I really like it - but this would be a deal breaker for me if I can't figure out to make it work.
