Hi

When you say it does not look as good when burned to DVD; do you mean on the computer or on TV?

If computer - this often happens as the DVD has been adjusted for playback on a TV.  Computers also do this with commercial DVD's.  The blurriness can be attributed to the monitor resolution being different from the DVD movie which is 720*576 pixel, also playback may exhibit slight jerkiness on the computer where there is rapid movement, this is due to interlaced video being played back on a progressive monitor.

From another time zone...

In the Burn window make sure you check the 'Encoder settings...'. The default is usual quality 10 and should be put up to the max of 15. The bitrate can also be adjusted -- the higher bitrate should give better images but the tradeoff is less playing time for the DVD. I think around 8000 is often recomended. Some DVD players my object if it is too high

Carl

Hi

Do as Carl suggest and on the burn tab, click the Encoder settings button, then  the Advanced button near the bottom left and select the tab as shown in the image below.  If the check box circled is checked - uncheck it, if not checked, check and try a burn again to see if this improves the video.  I am assuming you are burning NTSC in which case you are suffering from a common problem with NTSC systems.

If this fails then try reducing overall brightness or Gamma of the movie to compensate.
