White flash when opening Title Editor

terrypin wrote on 8/14/2016, 12:31 PM

Do others see this behaviour in MEP 2016 please?

Whenever I open the Title Edtor (either with the Title tab or KB shortcut) there's a single frame of white before the dialog appears. Unexpected, consistent, and rather irritating.

I couldn't capture a video reliably with either MEP Record or my usual CamStudio (probably should have increased the frame rate from its usual 25 fps) so had to use my iPhone camera:

EDIT: Is that YT upload playing OK for others? Not so here for me in Firefox. Doesn't show the correct thumbnail and won't play at all. But plays OK if I post the link to another web site (e.g. Firefox Forum) which implies it's a magix.info site issue.

I get a similar problem with this alternative link to the file on Dropbox. It plays in brief stutters and jerks from here. Yet plays fine for me in other players.

EDIT 2: It's definitely a Magix.info issue IMO, because I just tried another video link in this post

http://www.magix.info/uk/white-images-logos-have-a-grey-border-on-top.forum.1174166.html

and that gives the same problem as my YT link. But on reflection, hopefully my description hardly needed a supporting video anyway!

I've reported the issue via the Feedback tool top right.

EDIT 3: Hour or two later and both now working for me - at least on my iPad.

Hi Terry

I get the white flash too - it does sometimes vary in width depending upon which tab you are coming from.

. . . . Is that YT upload playing OK for others? Not so here for me in Firefox. Doesn't show the correct thumbnail and won't play at al . . . .

It is not playing in FF 47.0.1., Chrome or Edge

I have recently had issues with Firefox playing video and Ad blockers - sometimes you can be waiting up to about 1 min or more before the video starts.

I switched to Chrome for a while after slow loading issues with FF, however now back on FF after Chrome started having issues with a corrupt cache, blank pages and just not responding.

Hi Terry

After a little digging it looks like it is an issue with the Google API link if you post it direct into a browser

youtube .com/v/K0rYSk0leOs?border=0&enablejsapi=1&playerapiid=ytplayer&autoplay=1&fs=1&hd=1

does not play.

If you use the direct form of link ie

     youtube .com/watch?v=K0rYSk0leOs

directly in a browser it plays fine.

Note I have added an extra space after Youtube to get the link text to show rather then the embedded video.

Thanks John, appreciate your checking both the white flash and the side issue. I just used the basic YT URL, but I'll now try your neat trick of adding a space (although I don't understand why!)

But that now doesnt play! I think there's some intermittent server problem.

BTW, why do YT links here always intially appear in portrait mode, before using the full screen option? Looks like a bug.

Hi Terry

Sorry for the confusion - the reason I added the space was so the forum displayed the link as text so you could see the difference between the links.

. . . . Looks like a bug . . .

Never seen the image in portrait mode, however it may just be the slight delay as the browser builds the page and it receives the YT components.

The forum only has a link to the YT video and the embedded image also comes from YT so the issue is with YT or the browser.

The relevant code is this section of HTML

<a href="http://www.youtube .com/v/K0rYSk0leOs?border=0&amp;enablejsapi=1&amp;playerapiid=ytplayer&amp;autoplay=1&amp;fs=1&amp;hd=1" class="direct_youtoube_fancybox"><img alt="K0rYSk0leOs" src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/K0rYSk0leOs/1.jpg"/></a>

Side note: I have just read that, from next month, the new version of Chrome will be blocking Flash videos by default and will request permission to use Flash where a website is not HTML 5 compliant.

Grrrr: everytime you post a link as text the forum makes it a hyperlink
