Where's the Close-up Space Control? And Text label Paste

Kami_1 wrote on 10/29/2015, 11:30 PM

In MEP 2016?

I copied a text label and tried to paste it under a video object, just as I've done for years.  But now, even though I made sure the video and audio tracks were UNselected, the paste opened up the space where the video object was.

Then, as you can see in the s-cap, I noticed the controls to close or open a gap.... the ones which appeared on top of the "AB" Fade control, aren't there.

So, is it still possible to paste a text label UNDER a video object?  And where's the open/close gap controls?

Thanks.

Hi Kami

. . . . So, is it still possible to paste a text label UNDER a video object? . . . .

Yes providing it is going on the same track as the source you are copying from, there is space for the object and the timeline cursor is positioned at the insert point.

Also check the Insert mode you are using - see image below - hold and click the mouse on the ... under the icon shown in the image to get the dropdown to open

. . . . the open/close gap controls . . . .

The editing behaviour as in MEP 2014 and earlier was changed in MEP 2015.  See this post for the way it now works.

Hi John,

"Automatic" is highlighted -- I hadn't even noticed that dropdown menu.  But it's possible I might have been in multi-track mode at the time I tried to paste a label.  I was just able to paste one on the 3rd track, under the video & audio tracks.  But I got something on the video monitor that I never saw before.... "Press the 'Analyze' Button to update this area".  HUH?

I read your reply to the other, related, question.  I also copied it to a note file!

Thanks,
