where is spectralayers pro??

Jason-B wrote on 10/31/2023, 10:38 AM

I just purchased Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite. I decided to go with the Suite version because it said SpectraLayers Pro 10 is included. But I cannot find it anywhere. During the installation process, Melodyne was installed (also included with the Suite package) but I was waiting for the SpectraLayers installation to happen, and nothing showed up. And I cannot find anywhere in the program where SpectraLayers is located. I need SpectraLayers on my rig. Where is it? Do I need additional serial numbers for it, as it's a Steinberg app? If so, where are these numbers? They're not in my product portal. If I have to go to Steinberg to purchase SpectraLayers separately, then I am officially requesting a refund of my purchase of Sound Forge Pro 17 Suite.

SLP (SpectraLayers Pro) would have a unique activation code which should be in the email Magix sent you after your purchase of the SFP Suite with the other activation serials. If you can not find it, first look in your spam or junk email folders. If you still cannot find it, email Magix customer service with your purchase info.

SLP needs to be downloaded directly from Steinberg,

btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Jason-B.

Yes, I found the email. Thank you for for the fast reply.

(As a side question - this is different from the topic of this post - who can I send suggestions to for improving the customer service experience? I wanted to suggest a web chat feature. Seems like something overdue for Magix? Thanks!)

The same email address AFAIK.
There used to be a live chat support option, but I have not used it or have seen it lately I can see the live chat for (Magix) Vegas Pro.

Interestingly, there is already a chat feature available here, but only for German speaking customers. The support staff of Magix is located in Berlin, or maybe Dresden, as far as I know.

Same problem but Magix sent no authorization for Steinberg Spectralayers 11 Pro or Reverb 3D - as they advertised in their Exclusive Offer.

@WayneF-Dorothy Have you checked the order confirmation thoroughly? Some people only read the first couple of lines. Usually it's much longer and goes on and on...

WayneF-Dorothy wrote on 8/28/2025, 4:03 PM

Yes checked thoroughly. All in the email are: Upgrade: SOUND FORGE Pro 18, iZotope RX 10 Elements, iZotope Ozone 11 Elements. Items listed as "Top features at a glance in their Exclusive Offer Upgrade are: Steinberg Spectralayers Pro 11, #00,000scock assets from Storybook, 3D reverb, and Text-To-Speech. Their AI bot referred me to Steinberg - who has no record of me at all.

@WayneF-Dorothy So, you didn't buy Sound Forge Pro 18 Suite(!!!) but Sound Forge Pro 18 (non-Suite)?

WayneF-Dorothy wrote on 8/29/2025, 8:20 AM

I bought their "EXCLUSIVE OFFER," as advertised. SpectraLayers and other features are advertised as part of this upgrade offer. Please see the attached picture-file.

As you can see, "suite" is not mentioned in their offer, nor did it appear in text or picture when I processed the upgrade. I don't see where I misunderstood their offer, do you? I have contacted Magix Tech Support and Sales by email, as they do not provide another way to contact them. I attached picture-files of their "EXCLUSIVE OFFER" and my invoice, which does not match their offer. If they cannot honor their offer I have requested a refund. I am awaiting their response.

@WayneF-Dorothy As I see it, their marketing team is to blame here. SpectraLayers and 3D Reverb aren't part of the non-Suite version of Sound Forge.

If you're lucky they will own their mistake and honor your purchase and you might get the licenses. Otherwise they might simply refund you.

WayneF-Dorothy wrote on 8/29/2025, 8:51 AM

Thanks, SP. Those are my thought as well. I had really hoped to experiment with the additional features. My fear is they will neither honor their offer nor refund me, in which case they will lose a long-time user of their software. I will post again when I find out.

I returned the SoundForge 18 purchase for a full refund. It wasn't just the Specralayers thing, the app itself was crashing everywhere. Magix support was no help at all (except to promptly refund my money).

I have SoundForge 12 Pro since it came out years ago and have had virtually zero crashes with it. Would be great if a better company with better resources and coders would consider buying these apps and do some proper engine work on them again (like Sony). This kind of app shouldn't be so bloated. It's for editing audio, nothing else. All other non-editing features should stay in their own lane. Until SoundForge and Acid are acquired by a more solid company and the issues resolved accordingly, I can't justify wasting money on them ever again.

There are other, better, more stable options that aren't bloated or crash-prone, and work fast and smooth (with much more intuitive interfaces). And this is coming from someone who has been using these apps exclusively since their beta version back in the late 90s early 00's.
