Thanks Johne.  I have the Premium version and I'm trying to add 'additional' virtual instrument... to be specific, the "World Flute" which it says I have to pay for but... before I can actually pay for it, it is requestioning a 'program computer ID"... now I've already tried my seriel number that I got from purchasing and activiting my already up to date version of 2016 Premium... so it doesn't want my program seriel number which I know how to find just fine..

so again.. where do I find this elusive number so I can purchase the additional instrument and are you guys going to make this process easier to do for other people in the future?

Which version of Music Maker do you have and is it Basic or Premium?

If you are using the trial version of the program, then not all instruments etc are available until you purchase the program.

If the software is purchased, registered and up to date, and is the Premium version, then activation should be automatic unless something on the computer eg Antivirus or Firewall is blocking the program accessing the Internet.

You only get the computer id, which is generated by the program, when you start the program activation process and select activate by phone or email.

This is a user forum provided by Magix where users of Magix software help each other with issues, how to's and other Magix software related questions. 

The World Flutes are included in the Premium versions of MMM 2016 and MMM2016 Live.

Have you downloaded and installed all the extras under Help, Update program/Upgrade functions, Download free synthesizers and sounds packages ?

The message you are getting may be caused by an issue with MMM connecting to the required servers. Check that the following protocols are turned on in Internet Explorer, Internet options, Advanced tab

Once the program has been registered there is no way (AFAIK) of getting the computer id other then deregistering and then going through the Activate offline route.  However this should not be necessary.
