Where'd the track options go?

Windows-user6314 wrote on 11/8/2024, 9:43 PM

I've been using Movie Studio 15 for a long time, only thing that made me update was the fact that it bogs down the computer and constantly crashes losing work. I just purchased Movie Studio 2025, now that everything is completely different the expected frustration has ensured, but the biggest question I have is where is the track motion button that allows you to size and position the entire track?? t seems like MS2025 has no track options at all.

@Windows-user6314 You have a completely different programme to your old Vegas Movie Studio 15. Magix Movie Studio 2025 is what was called Movie Edit Pro renamed. Vegas Movie Studio was discontinued by the Vegas team a few year ago, the last version being 17. This was done so the team could concentrate on Vegas Pro. Personally I consider it misleading of Magix to market what you have purchased as an update

@ericlnz Yep agreed, potentially libellous statement removed by Moderator. Magix know exactly what they are & were doing when they renamed Movie Edit to Movie Studio.

@Windows-user6314 Hi, there is no recent version of Vegas Movie studio -

Vegas Movie studio was a scaled-down version of Vegas Pro. It was developed by Sony for its first 13 versions. It was sold in Sony's larger 2016 sale of much of its creative software suite to Magix who developed Versions 14 to 17. Magix would later discontinue VEGAS Movie Studio in 2021, in favor of the unrelated Magix Movie Studio which is completely different program & has never had any relation to Vegas Movie Studio..

You can either continue with the lesser Magix Movie Studio that doesn't have an option to 'size and position the entire track', or consider upgrading to Vegas Pro which does have Track Motion & will look, perform & feel just like your old Vegas Movie Studio.

This is Vegas Pro 22 --

@Windows-user6314 Another option is to find out what is causing your problems with your VMS15 and continue using that.

Post over on the Vegas forum and we'll try to help you there https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-pro-forum/

Hi

Vegas Movie Studio (VMS) and Magix Movie Studio (MMS) have very different workflows.

MMS tracks are universal, ie you do not have defined video/audio tracks, and order of priority, ie track 1 is the 'background', video and images on lower tracks (higher track number) will appear on top of any lower track number.

There is a list of tutorials here to help with familiarisation and how to's for MMS if you decide to stay with MMS

@Gid commented:

. . . Magix Movie Studio that doesn't have an option to 'size and position the entire track . . .

Agreed, however the same 'animation' can be done by other means in MMS.

If the tutorials linked to above do not cover a specific 'animation effect' you are trying to achieve, post a new comment in the forum.

Hi,

@Windows-user6314  I used to use Vegas Movie Studio 15, then I updated to version 17 until they discontinued it. To this day, some say that it's Vegas' fault (Creative) and others say it's Magix's fault. I understand that it doesn't matter because this discussion is useless. Well, I migrated to Magix Movie Studio 2023 and then 2024. Since this change I've been grateful, because in our life, "nothing is easy". Learning more is always worth it because the angles are different and only you can say what's best (for you, of course, and logically we can't ignore what your colleagues say!). It will be worth it for you to make an effort and follow the MM2025 proposal at least for a while. I haven't stopped evaluating Vegas Pro content until this version and I can certainly repeat what they say: they are different proposals even though Vegas has many more copies sold. Magix is now relearning a new path, because it also has good software. In a few months, if you continue using the MM2025 for the price and benefits, there is no product on the market today that offers what it offers! Good work! I hope so!

Thanks!

@Roberto-Goncalves It was nobodys "fault". Who is stating this.

As has been stated many times on this forum it was the Vegas team, not Magix, who decided to discontinue VMS so they could concentrate on Vegas Pro as nowadays they are a much smaller team and didn't have the resources to work on both products.

As others have stated, while the software workflow might be different, you can usually achieve the same results but by different ways. That means learning the product, and if stuck, asking in this forum.

For the price, it is an amazing editing software, and at least worth giving it a try.

Or, you should be able to upgrade to Vegas Pro 22 at the Black Friday price. But it costs more than MMS 2025. If short on spending money, invest your time in MMS. You will be surprised at some of the features in it.

See this comment, hopefully it will put an end to speculation about the demise of Vegas Movie Studio.
