Hi

. . . . The you deativated it . . . . I am using Windows 10 . . . . It happens all the time

Without more information I would suspect that you upgraded to Windows 10 from 7 or 8 and now you are being asked to activate/register the software every time you start it.

In which case this is an issue with the Windows 10 upgrade - Magix do not deactivate your software.

To fix this you need to re-install the software following this procedure.

You will need to uninstall all versions of Music Maker in this order 2016, 2015, 2014 in steps 1 and 2.

When you get to the re-installation steps install and update each version completely in this order 2014, 2015. 2016.

Sorry for my typo on my message before. I am Brazilian,  I was tired  but I am not now. I am following step by step of your instructions. I guess I am totally cleaned of the ‘affected program’ so far. Now I am going to start dowloading everything again...going to grab my copy of MMM 2016 fresh and safe. Will tell you if it worked.

thanks you and cheers

It's not Windows it is Music Maker 2016 Premier that has the issue. I started with a Windows 10 machine after I had already purchased your product for a Windows 10 Laptop and my Desktop PC. Music Maker ran terribly! Now here we are several years later and you still do not have a patch for this? I purchased two of your top packages and I surely expect Magix to support their customers when it turns out that neither will operate on either of my Windows 10 machines now! The program will NOT open in Windows 10 now and no this is not an upgrade to Windows 10. This is the original installation!

Two years on:

- Music Maker 2016 is 3 versions behind the current version, so there will be no updates for the 2016 version.

- Have you asked for help since you purchased MMM 2016? I cannot find any previous posts relating to issues you have had with MMM 2016.

If you are still having problems please read this post and come back with your computer specification as deatiled in the linked to post and more details of the issues you are having.

When I purchased these programs I had one on my laptop Windows 10 and the other on a PC Windows 7. Halfway through the first year I purchased a new PC system with Windows 10 Pro so I removed the Windows 7 machine and added the new Windows 10 (Hammer). First off, your platform here does not allow us to upload files. In fact it is the single most limited Support platform I believe I have ever seen and does next to nothing in assisting your customers as it is extremely difficult to navigate in order to find anything remotely resembling a Support Ticket system as I get with Pro Tools and even Ableton Live!

So unfortunately due to the short comings of this platform I cannot upload my systems DXDiag file so I have pasted a portion of it below with the primary configuration details of my PC:

Machine name: HAMMER
               Machine Id: {17E94C1E-7E33-43C2-B005-27FA536AF5D1}
         Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063) (15063.rs2_release.170317-1834)

                 Miracast: Available, with HDCP
Microsoft Graphics Hybrid: Not Supported
           DxDiag Version: 10.00.15063.0000 64bit Unicode

Furthermore, after reviewing my account details on Magix I can see that my copies are valid indefinitely as it states UNLIMITED. Now if Magix is in the business of not maintaining their own software in order to sell more copies of it then we are done and I will never buy another of your products again. There is not a single producer of software that I deal with who does not maintain compatibility with operating systems and Magix will be no exception! I am hoping this is not the case as I have not been able to use it due to these issues which I previously mentioned along with the fact that your web site makes it virtually impossible for me to submit support tickets as there is NO link that drives your customers to it!

@Wineblue2

The support page for Magix is here. That is the route to use for raising a support ticket.

Also, despite the excellent advice that John EB gave you in his post, you have really not told us anything about the problem(s) you are experiencing with MM 2016. To post even a part of the DXDiag file here, which is a user-to-user forum, not a direct contact with Magix Support, is really not useful or even necessary.

In addition, the fact that your software is valid indefinitely, i.e. can be "used" indefinitely, does not mean that it is the manufacturer's responsibility to perpetually maintain compatibility with all changes/updates to operating systems released subsequent to the original release of the software. Your mention of

There is not a single producer of software that I deal with who does not maintain compatibility with operating systems and Magix will be no exception!

leads me to assume you use quite a limited range of software. A considerable number of graphics, photographic, video, DTP, etc., etc.. softwares I've used over the years are now redundant because the manufacturer has either ceased production or now, quite reasonably, expects me to update to a later version. It is not reasonable to expect that every piece of software one owns will ALWAYS continue to run "for ever".

Just one further point: your assertion that

Now if Magix is in the business of not maintaining their own software in order to sell more copies of it then we are done and I will never buy another of your products again

is, I assume, designed to provoke Magix staff into making some kind of "gesture" to appease your anger. Although a moderator on the forums, like ALL my fellow-moderators, I am NOT a Magix employee, I do not "speak for the company" but I'm pretty certain that you will not receive any sort of "official company" reply via this forum.

Did you not see the Contact link at the bottom of each page in the forum and the Support link on the main Magix website.

In addition to Jeff's comments - please stick to specifics asked for regarding your computer specification and describe the issues you are having and if and how it can be replicated, without these it makes it very difficult to help you.

First off I described this issue numerous times but hey what's one more time. Magix Music Maker 2016 Premier will not open in Windows 10. I have gone to the support site which as I also stated is utterly useless on this issue in that they have ONE post on with multiple people reporting the exact same issue and yet not a single person from Magix has bothered to provide any support whatsoever to all of these customers. So seeing the Contact or Support links was obviously what I attempted first. All I got was a link that took me to some file download which when installed opened with no other option than a GERMAN GUI and I don't read German! Every piece of content up until I hit that point was in English so I fail to see why anyone is trying to provide a solution that no non-German speaking person can do a damn thing with! There is NO links within the Support page that obviously allow me to click and go to their page from within this Issue statement which there should be if for no other purpose than to make Customer Service a top priority.

@Wineblue2

First, we still nothing at all about the actual hardware of your computer.  There is absolutely NO POINT AT ALL in posting to this forum with problems if you are not prepared to supply the information asked for by we fellow-users. You may not see the point of such information but very often, specific hardware/software conflicts ARE the source of problems. We don't even know which version of Win 10 you are running, nor the precise version of MM2016.

MM2016 is now, in computer software terms "old" but it can run under Win 10; I have previously run it on this computer but the version upgrades I've received more recently have, unfortunately, now removed it so I cannot check that it still runs.

As to the file you say you downloaded: was it one called SysCheck.exe, or similar name? That is the key file whose results Magix Support need to see. It is worrying if it opened with ONLY German displayed but it normally also includes an option to switch at least the greater part of its interface to English. What it is is a program whose entire purpose is to check through ALL the relevant hardware and software on your computer for problems or conflicts which might interfere with the operation of your Magix software. It then compiles that information into a report which is sent direct to Magix Technical Support, where it will be read and suggestions made to you as to how the problem might be resolved.

OTOH, it may well be that there is something inherent to MM2016 which renders it incompatible with the latest versions of Win 10. As I wrote before it is not reasonable to expect that software manufacturers should patch all their "old" software in order to maintain compatibility with newer OS versions. Indeed, it may not even be possible for them to do so.

Hi

The issue with your posts is that they are not concise and specific ie

. . . .  I described this issue numerous times but hey what's one more time . . . .

Where?  I have checked your previous comments in other posts and there is no mention of what the issue with MMM2016 is.

. . . . I fail to see how on earth you missed this ENTIRE post I made DAYS AGO which completely details my computers entire configuration! . . . .

Unfortunately not - the issue with the information you have given is it is incomplete, ie your entire post after whittling out all the DXDiag garbage we are left with the following:

    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 15063)
    AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Eight-Core Processor
    Memory: 32768MB RAM

There is no mention of your graphics card/chipset, the version number of MMM 2016, or any details of error messages you get when starting MMM, how far the startup progress as shown by the loading status on the opening window  or even if it gets that far, or loads and then closes/crashes.

From the data above it would appear that your Windows 10 is 4 versions out of date, ie you are missing updates 1709, 1803 and 1809.

I suspect your issue is with the Windows 10 build you are currently at and you need to update to the latest and/or re-install the software following this procedure.

One last time. THIS IS NOT AN UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10! This is a custom built Republic Of Gamers ASUS rig which has the Crosshair VI Hero Motherboard, Ryzen 7 1800X 8 core processor, 32 GB RAM (G. SKILL Flare X), ASUS GTX Strix 1080 GPU in it. So your procedure is for those who have an upgraded system which this is not. Bottom line here is that the Magix Music & Audio Lab Premium opens while the Magix Music Maker 2016 Premiumn does not. Clearly there is something wrong with the later!

As most people are capable of sending the complete DXDIAG file as an attachment in any ticket submissions with any other platform but this one you get what you get. The average person wouldn't even know where to go to get most of this technical info which is why we are pretty much stuck depending on someone being the Customer Service representative or in lack of that having a web site that is capable of offering suitable support! My system runs Pro Tools Live without issue! It runs Ableton without issue! Both of these are MAINSTREAM programs! What is wrong with Magix that it is now incapable of performing the same operational functionality as these two very well known programs? I did not have to contact anyone to make them work they just did what they were built to do without problems!

I understand why you say say your current computer is NOT an upgrade to Win 10 and, therefore, the linked tutorial is NOT applicable to your situation. When John EB wrote that excellent article he was actually attempting to help the large number of users who had experienced problems following an upgrade from Win 7 or 8 to Win 10.

However, the procedure detailed is also completely applicable to systems which are natively Win 10 and which need to uninstall and then reinstall ANY Magix program.

I'm not at all sure why you believe the DXDiag file is in any way relevant to this thread? We ask thread starters who are experiencing fundamental problems with their Magix software to post the details of their computer hardware, OS, etc. As John EB pointed out to you in his earlier reply, only some three lines of that file actually contain any information that could be useful to we fellow-users and much of what we need to know is not there! Clearly, your latest post DOES give additional information, but it is still not "complete".

There have been a number of other points/questions which you have, so far, failed to answer. If you really do want help from fellow-users, please respond to the issues raised:

There is no mention of ... the version number of MMM 2016

From the data above it would appear that your Windows 10 is 4 versions out of date, ie you are missing updates 1709, 1803 and 1809.

As to the file you say you downloaded: was it one called SysCheck.exe, or similar name?

We want to help you, but we are all fellow-users, NOT Magix staff and, speaking personally, I do not view your hectoring tone as being in any way designed to encourage others to participate. WE are not responsible for the problems you are experiencing.

@Wineblue2

Hi

. . . . One last time. THIS IS NOT AN UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10! . . . . So your procedure is for those who have an upgraded system which this is not. . . . .

The tutorial was originally written for a variety of issues which stemmed from Windows 10 upgrade, however it is still applicable to any installation of Windows 10 and update/upgrade issues.

The tutorial procedure includes steps for cleaning up the program leftovers, after un-installing, and a full check of the Windows 10 installation to fix update/upgrade issues which can arise.

We cannot help you further if we do not have the information requested as Emmrecs has stated.

. . . . Bottom line here is that the Magix Music & Audio Lab Premium opens while the Magix Music Maker 2016 Premiumn does not. Clearly there is something wrong with the later! . . . .

The bottom line is that there is something wrong with the installation - however you cannot blame the program entirely.

The cause may be due to a Windows 10 related issue or the program install had an issue. This is why I recommended, using the tutorial linked to, uninstalling MMM following the procedure and also check that the Windows installation does not have issues.
