What Virtual Instruments?

dlt101 wrote on 3/3/2015, 11:21 AM

Considering purchasing Music Maker, but finding it VERY difficult to find answers about the features.

Where can I find a list of virtual instruments that come with Music Maker? Most everything I can find just says there are such things.

Where can I find a list of compatible plug-ins?

I am looking for the ability to create multi-layered orchestra type music, with lots of normal instruments, not weird synthesizer noises and bang bang sounds. Is this the right software? Or will I need to buy a ton of plug-ins on top of the base price?

Hi,

See my tutorial on getting started. There you will see some of the instruments and synths.

Read carefully the documention on the Magix.com site - look at the details and tutorials. Each time that Magix comes out with a new version of MMM, they include some new instruments in the Premium version. If you don't have any previous versions, you will only get the instruments included in the one being offered. Thus in the screen below, I have instruments that I obtained from previous versions, plus those with 2015 Premium.

Magix has more instruments available on their site, but for some reason the link does not work if I put it in a message here; it reverts to the Magix.com screen.

Each of the "Instruments" has other instruments. As far as I know, there is no complete list of instruments in the "Instruments." I started doing a video of all of them, never finished it; maybe some day. Instead, I may just make an Excel file of the instruments taken from the files. See below for screen shots of some instruments under Vita2 and all that are under Urban Drums.

Vitas - Acoustic pianos

Vita2 - Orchestral brass

Urban Drums

For what you are proposing, you may be better using Samplitude Music Studio and Independence. See the Samplitude Pro site for Independence. All of the instruments that I have with Music Maker are also with Samplitude Music Studio.

You may need to use more plugins if you don't find what you need

In case you can't see the Vita 2 screen very well, here is a listing of the Instrument components under Vita:

  • Orchestral Brass
  • Orchestral Strings
  • Orchestral Woodwinds
  • Vital Acoustic Drum Kits & Percussion
  • Vital Acoustic Guitars
  • Vital Acoustic Pianos
  • Vital Electric Basses
  • Vital Electric Guitar
  • Vital Electric Pianos
  • Vital Ethno Percussion
  • Vital Power Chords
  • Vital Soundtrack Percussion

Here is a listing of most of the synths/instruments that you see on the above image:

  • Analog Synths
  • Bass Machine
  • Celtic Harp
  • Century Piano
  • Drum Engine
  • Electric Piano
  • Jazz Drums
  • Pop Brass
  • Power Guitar
  • Rock Drums
  • String Ensemble
  • Urban Drums
  • Vintage Organ
  • Vita
  • World Flutes
  • World Percussion

For Samplitude Music Studio, under Independence, I have the 12GB version. Here are the main instruments or kits:

01 Acoustic Drum Kits
02 Electronic Drum Kits
03 Acoustic Basses
04 Electric Basses
05 Acoustic Guitars

09 World Percussion
10 Industrial Percussion
11 Pop Brass Section
12 Saxophones

14 Synthesizers
15 Arpeggiator
16 Groove Instruments
17 Arranger
18 Step Sequencer

There are more instruments or playing techniques under each of the above. For example, under 07 Pianos - Keys, there are:

  • (Acoustic Pianos).---
  • Acoustic Bar Piano.ytil
  • Acoustic Grand Piano.ytil
  • Acoustic Piano & String Resonance.ytil

What he said.. browj2... But, I'll be the first to applaud the classical instruments in the Music Maker

program.. Magix is imho the easiest to navigate, and  use composition software out there for making

musical compositions. They do make a lot of software I don't own, but what I have suits my needs.

The instrumentation in the synths in most cases is spot on, and with the controls you can shape these

sounds to suit your ears. More than enough options to Orchestrate your ideas from a digital sense.

Best of Luck with it..

Magix Music Maker 14, Samplitude 11, Audio Cleaner, is what I use for almost everything, Music.
