So, just in order to close this topic (at least for me), I give you the answer I got from the MAGIX Support (MAGIX Sales Department, to be more precise).
My question to the support was this:
<< I have a (yet unused) license for "Movie Studio 2022 - Standard/Basic". As I don't need it (I already use VEGAS Pro), I would like to resell this license. I would like to be able to tell the potential buyer which upgrade options he or she would have with the mentioned licence.
I already tried to get an answer to my question through the forum, and it doesn't seem like I can get a clear reliable answer there.
To sum my question up: which of the 3 versions ("Standard", "Platinum", "Suite") of "Movie Studio 2023" could I purchase at the reduced upgrade price if I have the licence for the standard/basic version of "Movie Studio 2022"? >>
Well, at first I thought they got me wrong, because they talked about "MAGIX Video Deluxe" and not about "MAGIX Movie Studio". But then I realized that "Video Deluxe" is the name under which this software is distributed in Germany (where I am located). So I guess the same is valid for "Movie Studio".
But probably you cannot upgrade to a new basic/standard version during a special sale - because this version is cheap enough during the special sale so that the upgrade purchase option is disabled during that time.
That's how I understand MAGIX' upgrade purchase policy regarding "Video Deluxe"/"Movie Studio". Needless to say, I cannot personally guarantee this information to be valid, especially not for the future.
Btw, the web-link to get the according offer for the newest "MAGIX Movie Studio" is this:
And I would recommend very much to get the "Suite" version during a special sale. If you do it via upgrade purchase, it will be cheaper then buying the standard/basic version during a special sale.
Without looking back, I'm pretty sure that your question was answered adequately here.
There is a slight anomaly in your message:
...you can purchase all three upgrade versions. With the following link, you will get to the offer.
There is and never has been a possibility to Upgrade the basic version to a newer version as far as I am aware. Only the full price is ever indicated for the basic version and only Plus/Premium or Platinum/Suite have an Upgrade option and price.
Anyone who has a registered version, no matter which flavour, of Video Deluxe, Movie Edit Pro or Magix Movie Studio is eligible for the Upgrade Price.
Without looking back, I'm pretty sure that your question was answered adequately here.
Well, maybe you should look back, because I am pretty sure that it wasn't, especially when it contradicts the answer I got from MAGIX. Especially when those answers are uselessly vague, non-binding and just personal estimations without providing exact reliable information.

Well, that's the answer I got from MAGIX and I am pretty sure that one can upgrade FROM a basic version, BUT, as I said in my previous post, not in very case and not at every time TO a basic version. And I definitely have upgraded TO a newer basic version of "MAGIX Vegas Pro" (it's called "Vegas Pro Edit") before in the past, to give an example verified by my personal experience. This obvously can be different for cheaper MAGIX software, especially when there is a special sale.

@JuergenHrw This thread is funny, it just went around & around, & then why you've marked your own comment as the solution is unclear, your question was answered long ago, either you renew your licence for the basic version you have or you upgrade,
I'm curious why do you think anyone would buy your second hand Movie Studio 2023 (Basic) licence & risk the chance of not being able to upgrade, when they can buy Movie Studio 2023 Platinum brand new from the retailers for almost the same price with a receipt?
I am genuinely curious but good luck with your sale 👍

Because it contains the answer I finally got from MAGIX and nobody here would give a precise answer to my (pretty precise) question. Especially since I announced at the end that I was going to contact MAGIX and post the answer I would get from them here.

Well, this would be different than the answer I got from MAGIX. And no, this answer hasn't been precisely given as far as I can recall. And in any case it would be a wrong answer as you definitely can upgrade from a basic/standard version.

There is so much wrong in that statement - but I do not bother to elaborate in detail about that because that wasn't the question - the question was about the upgrade options with a license for Movie Studio 2022 (Basic/Standard). And no, there is no risk of not being able to upgrade if it's a valid not previously used license (it doesn't matter if the same is true for a merely non-activated license for me, as my license is/was completely new and not previously used and that is what I am/was going to sell).
Btw, I managed to sell this license months ago. I didn't get rich but I got a few bucks and the buyer got a cheap (to some degree upgradable) license. But thanks for worrying so much about other people's decisions ;-)
What I wanted to do is merely close this thread as the solution was still pending and I stumbled upon that when I was cleaning up my email folders today.

The answer I gor from MAGIX was this: << you can purchase all three upgrade versions. With the following link, you will get to the offer.
@JuergenHrw 'so much wrong in that statement' I was asking a question, no need to be snarky ;-), but the first three replies you got on this thread pretty much said the same thing as the minimal answer you got from Magix that I've quoted above,
(to some degree upgradable)
As you've been told by forum members & Magix, if you have a basic version it is fully upgradeable. Yeah close this thread,
