Waveform graphic does not appear when recording for 2nd time in VIP

I have Samplitude Pro X 5 and when I first record in a VIP, the waveform graphic appears as I am recording. When I record AGAIN in the same VIP the waveform graphic DOES NOT APPEAR until you stop recording and then you can see the waveform. I can't figure out what is causing this or how to fix it. It's just disconcerting to see a blank while recording and then only see the waveform when you stop recording. Any solutions or recommendations out there?
