VPX13 doesn't show audio wave form

profilaxagm wrote on 3/18/2022, 3:55 PM

Hi All,

On VPX12 I could display the audio wave form of objects (Shift-E), but it doesn't work in VPX13.

I set the option in the Program settings /Video-Audio:

Timeline: Half-waveform display

Import: Automatically create waveform during import

What did I wrong?

Windows 10, I7-11700K, NVIDIA Getforce 1660 Super, 64Gb RAM.

VPX13 V. 19.02.150

Thanks,

Gabriel

Hi,

Update your message to be version 19.0.2.150 and not 10.02.150.

I have noticed this intermittently along with many other strange things. Try restarting, try in a new project, try video clips from various sources. Shift+E on a video clip should get the waveform.

Do you have video and audio set to be on separate tracks? If not, try that.

For the ones with no waveform, track down the associated temporary files, H0 and HDP. Delete them then reopen the project. The H0 files are the waveforms. Normally they're in the same folder as the video files, but they could be under C:\Documents\MAGIX\Video Pro X\AudioTemp.

@profilaxagm

Hi Gabriel

Can you correct the version number please - I believe it should be 19.0.2.150.

Works here for the following:

Video - audio codecs:

mpg (mp2 and AC3 encoded audio), AAC, AC3 stereo & surround sound, PCM, MPEG

Audio formats

.ogg, wav and .mp3 audio files.

We need to know the audio codec used in the video files that will not show the waveform.

If you have not got it download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required - in the Audio section of the data you should see what the audio codec used is.

I updated the erroneously written version number, Thank You

I didn't find the H0 file neither in the project folder, nor in the C:\Documents\MAGIX\Video Pro X\AudioTemp.folder.

I Will analyse the audio codec, as @JohnBaker proposed.

@profilaxagm

Hi Gabriel

Thanks for the MediaInfo data

The audio is standard AAC encoded so that should not be the cause of the waveform issue, however the frame rate mode is variable (VFR) and the range it varies is 'excessive' ie

Minimum frame rate                       : 5.131 FPS
Maximum frame rate                       : 30.960 FPS

This is known to cause audio sync issues and may also be why you are not getting the waveform.

Try converting a clip to Constant Frame Rate (CFR), which is the preferred format, using a video converter such as Handbrake and import this on to the timeline.
