VPX12 Import EDL file causes a crash

browj2 wrote on 1/29/2021, 11:49 AM

VPX12 18.0.1.89

File, Manage project, Import movie file, Edit Decision List (*.edl) - Shortcut Ctrl+D

I tried EDL's created by exporting to EDL from VPX12 and from Samplitude Pro X3. In both cases, the objects show up on the timeline and then the program crashes.

Of course, today is one of those days that the crash log does not want to be sent to Magix because the message falsely tells me that I am not connected to the internet.

Can anyone replicate this EDL problem?

Thanks,

John CB

Hi John

EDL issue confirmed - tested with one of VPX's own EDL exports (handing over objects), crashed part way through loading up the timeline, also had the same error when trying to send the crash log.

Hi John,

Thanks for confirming. This is the second last topic in my next tutorials on All Things Audio. I'll leave it as though it's working and raise a ticket with Magix. Could you please also raise a ticket?

Thanks,

John CB

Hi John

. . . . Could you please also raise a ticket . . .

Will do, I will also look at the edl file to see if anything is amiss.

Was this ever fixed in VPX12?

browj2 wrote on 7/13/2023, 10:21 AM

@Reyfox

Hi,

As far as I know, no. The issue was last raised on the Samplitude forum by a user trying out VPX14 but he didn't indicate with which version of Samplitude. Probably X7.

The issue is on my bug list recently sent in again to Magix.

I'll try raising the issue again on the Samplitude forum as there is a Magix employee there who hunts for bugs.

I really wish that Magix would make these things work properly. This is not the only case of one Magix program not working with another as advertised.

EDIT: I just tried again with an old EDL created with Samplitude Pro X3 Suite into VPX15. The files loaded into VPX but after a few seconds and trying to play back, crashed.

@browj2 thanks for the info. I was asked if VPX12 could import an edl, but it couldn't. So did the google thing and wound up here. For me, it's not a big deal, but I can see that if it is a feature, it should work.
