Hi guys, this happens with Music Maker 2014 and 2015. If I use a sample that is a midi file for a track (e.g. one from the sound pool) I can apply a volume envelope in the editor but it is not honoured when playing back, i.e. cannot fade out a track that uses a .MID sample!
So in the top track the drums fade but in the bottom track the bass does not!
What am I missing?

Quick answer without checking, for midi I think that you have to modify the velocity curve using the midi editor.
Select ALL in the midi editer,the one you want to work the way you want it to.
after SELECT ALL then press NEW.
after pressing new you should have a empty midi track.
THEN press PASTE.
after the paste you can now edit the FADE IN AND OUT.
it works for me.
there is a few ways of doing it but i find it fast and effective.
You can also export just the MIDI file as an audio file, then import it back into the arrangement and apply the fade IN/OUT.

Thanks for that, sounds the most convincing! Will give it a try :-) As for velocity editing, i think velocity isthe attack on the note? And importing/exporting defeats the object of midi i think!

Use the VOLUME not the VELOCITY of the note.
select all then DRAW a pattern you want.
then after the draw you should see each note VELOCITY and i a different LENGHT each lenght is a differnet volume. FADE to your hearts content.

I must admit its not the easy way to to draw a pattern.
But it does work it might take a while depending on how complicated the pattern your making is.
