Volume Envelope in SF 13

How the heck do you apply a volume envelope in Sound Forge 13??? In version 9 there was a check mark in the plug in chain window. I've been banging my head against the wall try to figure this out in 13. I can make the volume envelope but there seems to be no way to apply it. This SF 13 trial is not starting well...

This is another result of the re-designed modal plug-in chainer, which was implemented in Pro 11 by SCS..
Unfortunately there is no fast and easy way to directly apply a volume envelope / chain as with prior versions. Normally if "FX Favorites>Apply plug-in chain" is selected, the chain is applied to the file as before.. However, the volume 'envelope' cannot be used in the 'Apply plug-in chain' mode.
A work-around is to create the volume envelope and 'Save' or 'Save as' the file, which will apply the envelope and any other plug-ins in the chainer that are not bypassed..

It is best to save files in a uncompressed PCM format if a any additional editing is planned

Thanks for the answer... that's really strange. It kinda makes me feel like a blind man as I like to see the result before I save the file.

Can't you just insert the "volume"-plugin in the plugin chain and draw an envelope for this parameter? Or is this not what you want?

Yes but I can't seem to preview or apply it until I save the file. In SF 9 you can draw your volume envelope and preview how it will affect the sound by using a special play button in the transport controls and then apply it by pressing the check mark button in the plugin chain window.

Ok! I don't use the "Apply plugin chain"-mode unless I only want effects on a part of the audio file. I usually use the "View - Plugin Chain" window where all envelopes are previewed during normal playback but not applied until I save the file, just like any other DAW.

@osflaa Yes you can, but there is no automation, i.e., volume envelope option in the "Apply Plug-in" mode. Only fixed plus or minus volume (like selecting 'Volume' singularly in the 'Process' menu.

@marc-salvatore You should be able the hear the volume changes prior to saving. Are you enabling the envelope automation in the 'plug-in chain Volume window ? There is a small gold colored icon with a down-facing > , with a drop down menu to 'Show' and/or 'Enable' envelope options .

You're right thanks. Makes it more usable that it first appeared.
