vista & sampletude = static?

Experiencing large amounts of crackles and static sounds while recording in the multitrack of sampletude. The audio is there but is layed with static. I'm using an M-audio profire 610 with sampletude, while it worked fine with my previous pc (win XP). This PC has Vista 32bit sp1, 4 gig ram, Intel Core Duo 360 Hd and is way above min requirements so I'm pretty sure that I don't have to config Vista a power saving mode (even though I still tried which had same outcome).

I noted someone mentioning that Vista dramatically alters audio codes but I have no idea how to correct it or even if thats the problem?

Has anyone else experienced the same problem, if so what did you do?

I would look for the latest drivers for your Profire and install them, also make sure you're using ASIO withing Samplitude. Since your interface is Firewire (I think) then you can't use ASIO4ALL but the built in (preferably from M-Audio) ASIO should help.

Also make sure you bump up your audio buffers a bit from default.
